Chapter 335
A group of people, each with their own thoughts.
Serena cheerfully waved at Alexander. "Bro, come over here! I've saved you a seat next to me. Sit next to me, and later you can help me pick out fish bones."
"Oh, for heaven's sake, you're all grown up but still acting like a child. How busy is your brother be with work? Eat by yourself," Mrs. Harrington chided her daughter, but her eyes betrayed affection. Her children were her pride and joy.
Serena pouted and coquettishly said, "No. I want my brother to pick out fish bones for me. After all, he's the one who spoils me."Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
Alexander smiled and ruffled Serena's hair before taking his seat.
Tyrone gestured for the waiter to serve Quintessa a glass of freshly squeezed watermelon juice. "Here, drink this."
Quintessa nodded and sipped her juice, seemingly oblivious to the family of three.
Tyrone gently stroked Quintessa's silky hair and asked Alexander, "So, what's been keeping you busy lately? Haven't seen you around much."
Alexander looked up with a complicated expression. "Took on a case, and I've been running around."
Ever since Serena's coming-of-age party, the two hadn't been in touch. The childhood friends now seemed to have a rift between them.
Tyrone faced Alexander without a hint of guilt.
Nydia, in an attempt to regain her dignity and presence, chimed in, "With a top- notch lawyer like our cousin here, I bet you must be dealing with major cases. Any interesting stories? I'm currently looking for some inspiration."
Alexander replied indifferently, "There's nothing interesting. Just a bunch of grim stuff, not suitable for the dinner table."
He tried not to look at Quintessa, but the mere thought of her with Tyrone made it impossible for him to feign a smile.
Serena, resting her chin in her hands, nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I accidentally saw some photos in brother's briefcase the other day-they were terrifying. How about letting Quinn talk about her filming experiences? I visited their set last time, and it was so fascinating."
All eyes turned to Quintessa.
Quintessa leisurely drank her watermelon juice, as if she hadn't heard their conversation at all. Serena blushed awkwardly.
In such a situation, Quintessa wouldn't go out of her way to engage with people who disliked her. Why should she bother being polite to those who made things difficult for her?
Tyrone and Mrs. York seemed equally uninterested in joining the conversation, each sipping their coffee in perfect harmony.
Mrs. Harrington's eyes flashed with displeasure as she smiled, "Ms. Young is a celebrity; probably she's not used to interacting with us ordinary folks?"
Mrs. York turned away-Mrs. Harrington was accusing Quintessa of acting snobbish and putting on airs, and thinking she couldn't understand.
After a few sips of her juice, Quintessa set down her glass and replied slowly, "Yeah, I just came from the set. I'm not used to socializing. So I can't really keep up with your conversation. Filming 19
tedious affair. I don't find it a
particularly enjoyable, especially since it's my job. When I'm acting, I approach it Nydia on it with respect, just like Ms.
Nydia does with her designing. She doesn't consider her work as play, does she?"
Nydia was choked. She clenched her jaw and smiled, "Well, that's different. My work's nature is entirely different ve from Ms. Young's. I see all the drama in the entertainment industry online, every day's a buzz. I've even heard about certain
unsavory practices in your field. Do those happen on your sets?"
Quintessa chuckled. This person was quite interesting. Why not jūsðask directly if she had been slept with?
