Chapter 186 Who is Really Putting in the Effort
“Really?”
Upon hearing Eaton’s words, the two little ones were filled with excitement.
Girls are naturally fond of romance. Lyla immediately grabbed her daddy’s hand. She said with a sweet and childish voice, “I want to see!”
Her eyes stared intently, and she even shook her hand cutely. From NôvelDrama.Org.
How could Jason resist such pleading?
Seeing the excitement in his precious daughter’s eyes, and her proactive request, he naturally agreed.
“Then let’s go and see.”
Lyla’s face was filled with excitement. She pulled Lucas’s hand and held Alta’s hand, quickly walking ahead.
Soon, Jason led them to the riverside skyscraper.
This skyscraper was very tall, with dozens of floors. It was the largest tourist spot by the river. Each floor had a different theme due to it was a commercial building.
Jason took them to the café on the fiftieth floor.
There were floor-to-ceiling windows here. They faced the river, with an excellent view for watching fireworks.
As soon as the two little ones ordered their drinks after they were seated, they heard a swoosh sound.
Then came a loud explosion, “Boom!”
Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, a massive firework bloomed and illuminated half of the sky.
“It’s so beautiful!”
The two little ones leaned against the glass and exclaimed in surprise.
Alta followed the direction of the fireworks and felt a tinge of regret.
She wasn’t able to bring Otto and Nina along this time. Those two little ones had seen scenes like this even less than Lucas and Lyla. If they were here, they would probably be even more excited…
Jason clearly didn’t have the leisure or elegance to pay much attention to these things. He merely glanced briefly and was instead drawn to the woman beside him.
Under the lights, Alta’s face was outlined, gentle and radiant. The brilliance of the fireworks shimmered in her serene eyes.
Alta didn’t notice someone watching her. She was lost in her thoughts, gazing at the fireworks outside the window.
The fireworks display lasted for half an hour before it finally ended. However, the two little ones were still not satisfied.
“If only we could see it again next time,” Lucas sighed.
Jason could easily discern his son’s thoughts, but he saw his beloved daughter’s hopeful expression. He then spoke up, “I’ll bring you again next time.”
“Really?”
Lucas looked at Jason with some disbelief.
“Yes.”
Jason promised.
Instantly, the faces of the two little ones lit up with joyful smiles.
After finishing their drinks, it was already past eight o’clock in the night. Considering the children, the two of them prepared to go back.
As they descended the stairs, it was crowded with many people. Worried about getting separated from the children, Alta held Lyla in her arms. Jason noticed and also picked up Lucas.
One child was held in each arm. Lucas thought to himself, “Daddy is quite considerate.”
However, in this situation, pushing and shoving could easily occur.
While Alta was walking, she didn’t know who bumped into her. Thus, her body holding the child lost balance and almost fell forward.
Jason’s quick eyes and reflexes allowed him to catch her.
Due to inertia, Alta collided with his chest.
“Are you okay?”
Jason’s deep voice sounded in her ear.
Alta quickly retreated from his embrace, saying, “I’m, I’m fine.”
She held Lyla tightly. It seemed like there was a faint scent of cool cedar from the man on her nose. Her ears
inexplicably felt a bit warm.
“Be more careful,” Jason said.
His large hand left her waist, landing on her arm like supporting her…
Alta was momentarily stunned. Before she could react, she heard the man say, “Don’t just stand there, keep walking.”
“Okay.”
Alta responded and quickly resumed walking.
However, the place where he had supported her was burning hot…
Jason escorted Alta back to the Spring Villa before taking the two little ones back to the Hill Villa.
Upon entering the house, Jason saw his mother pacing in the living room with her arms crossed. She exuded an imposing aura.
His father, Jay Hill, was also present. He sat on the sofa with a cold and stern expression.
Jason furrowed his brows slightly and looked at Jenny in the hall. He asked, “Why haven’t you left yet?”
Upon hearing these words, Jenny immediately became furious. The anger she had suppressed tonight erupted directly.
“Why should I leave? If I leave, are you going to bring that woman back?”
Jenny insinuated Alta.
“Shepard, take Otto and Nina upstairs to rest.” Jason called the butler over to take the children away since he didn’t want them to hear.
Lucas and Lyla obediently cooperated.
They had no interest in acknowledging their grandmother.
After the children went upstairs, Jason took a seat and looked coldly at Jenny.
“I’ve told you before, I don’t need you to interfere in my affairs. Do we have to go through this commotion every time? When will it end?”
Jason’s attitude infuriated Jenny.
“What do you mean by ‘when will it end’? You’ve been enchanted and lost your mind because of that woman, Alta! Have you forgotten how heartless she was towards the child back then?”
Jenny’s words triggered Jason’s memories.
He remembered how carefully Alta took care of the child in the hospital. Even though she didn’t know the child was her own, she still treated them so tenderly…
Jason’s expression turned cold. He responded to Jenny, “Indeed, I didn’t know, but I remember quite clearly how you schemed to drive her away.”
Jenny widened her eyes in disbelief and questioned, “What do you mean?”
She clenched her teeth and looked at her son. She questioned him, “Are you blaming me now for divorcing your back then?”
Jason didn’t respond. Instead, he counter-questioned, “So, is it me who ask you to forge that infertility report?”
Jenny was speechless at his words.
Jason’s patience with his mother gradually diminished, He said, “Let me make it clear one last time. From now on, you don’t need to concern yourself with my marriage or the children. If you have the time, go back and tend to the flowers, enjoy some afternoon tea, and take care of my father’s health.”
“As a wife, you haven’t fulfilled any responsibilities. As a mother and grandmother, you haven’t lived up to expectations! Take some time to reflect on yourself.”
Jenny stared wide-eyed.
She never expected that right after Donovan lectured, her son would say the same thing. Her breathing became irregular. She asked, “So, now you despise me as a mother?”
Jason remained silent.
His silent attitude seemed to confirm Jenny’s words.
“Fine, fine! None of you in the Hills appreciate me. First, it was Donovan, then your father, and now even my good son no longer recognizes me as his mother! Fine, since that’s the case, then I’ll leave!”
Jenny cried in anger.
However, the father and son in front of her remained indifferent. Filled with resentment, she turned around and left.
This situation of crying and causing a scene, was not the first time it had played out in front of them.
Seeing her like this, Jason furrowed his brows even more. He coldly remarked, “Truly stubborn!”
