Chapter 34: If They Don't Leave, Call The Police
Chapter 34: If They Don't Leave, Call The Police
However, Henry was not at all remorseful. He looked at his watch and said coolly, "Your three minutes
is up. You'd better leave now, or I will call the police. I don't think you're here just for an interview."
After that, he looked at the security guard next to him and said, "If there's still here in 15 minutes, call
the police."
"Yes, boss."
The security guard was stunned. The reporters were just doing their jobs, but Mr Maynard wanted to
call the police on them. They were all in the same industry after all, was it wise to treat them like this?
After that, Henry walked to his car as if nothing had happened and drove away.
The reporters left behind looked at each other. Mr. Maynard said that he would give them 15 minutes to
leave. They weren't sure if he was serious about calling the police on them.
Luz leaned against the window and peeked downstairs. The reporters were gone. She double checked
for any hidden ambushes and heaved a sigh of relief. At the same time, she felt a little disappointed.
This was actually a good chance to become famous.
She packed up her things and went downstairs. Once she was sure no one was around, she waved
down a taxi. She took a quick glance around the parking lot. The Maybach was gone. She wasn't sure
when Henry had left. This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.
At the same time, the Maybach was heading towards the Boone family mansion. Soothing music was
playing from the radio. Henry smiled slightly.
Once the reporters were gone, she should be going home immediately.
The car made the last turn and was about to stop in a hidden corner, but he spotted a blue SUV parked
in front of the house. His smile disappeared as he pursed his lips and glared at the car.
The owner of the car really had the nerve to appear all the time!
He turned off the music as his mood soured before lifting his eyes to the second floor of the mansion.
Judging by the shadows cast on the drawn curtains, he could see a father and his child playing in the
room. He could also hear them laughing.
A storm quickly gathered in his amber eyes. In the rear view mirror, a taxi drove over to the house at
high speed.
Luz paid the driver and got out of the taxi hurriedly. She hoped that Logan wouldn't be too angry that
she did not pick him up after his first day of school.
As for Declan, she might be able to have a good chat with him today.
Taking out the key from her bag, she quickly opened the door and walked in. However, such a normal
thing became totally different in another person's eyes.
"Is she in such a hurry to go on a date with Declan?"
He muttered to himself coldly and narrowed his eyes dangerously.
"Luz Boone, don't expect to have a good life if I'm not having a good time myself. I'll let you know that
once you've married me, you will never be another man's wife!"
The cold voice scattered in the wind, leaving only the exhaust from the Maybach.
Inside the villa.
Luz put her bag on the cabinet beside the door and tiptoed upstairs. Halfway up, she heard Logan and
Declan laughing. The sound warmed her heart.
Usually, Logan was quite reserved and thoughtful when he was with her. He never asked about his
father, and never asked her to play with him like a father would, but she knew that he had expectations.
She recognised that the first time Declan visited them in the US. Logan was just seven or eight months
old at the time and didn't even know Declan, but he always laughed when Declan held him.
Because of this, she never turned down Declan when he came to visit, because she wanted her son to
have a good man in his life to accompany him, even though he couldn't have a father.
She had been able to comfort herself before, but after Declan's confession, she felt very selfish.
Her light footsteps became heavier. She went upstairs with a smile and pushed open the bedroom
door. When she saw the two of them rolling on the bed, a smile appeared on her face again. "Logan,
get off Uncle Declan. You're too heavy for this."
He was no longer two or three years old. He was quite heavy now.
Logan pouted at her jab on his weight, but still got off Declan obediently. "You promised to pick me up
after work."
Adults never kept their promises.
"Sorry, I had something to do at the company today."
Declan looked at her suspiciously and asked, "Luz, is it because of that thing?"
"No, I just have a business plan that needs to be changed. It's due tomorrow, so I stayed late to finish
it."
She quickly shook her head. She did not want Logan to know about that.
"That's good."
Declan wasn't quite convinced, but he smiled anyway and glanced at the window before saying, "You
haven't had your dinner, have you? You're too thin. you shouldn't skip any more meals. Is there
anything to eat at home? I'll cook something for you."
"That's alright, I can do it myself."
Luz refused in a hurry. She already felt that she had done Declan wrong. She should not keep leading
him on just because he was nice to her.
She wouldn't know how to repay his kindness if this went on longer.
An awkward and disappointed expression flashed across Declan's face. She had rejected him so
quickly.
"You don't know how to cook. Don't worry, I'll leave after that."
He composed himself and said firmly, not allowing her to reject him again.
"All right then."
"I'm too fat for more food. Enjoy yourselves."
Logan was already in bed and had no intention to get up. He had already had his fill at dinner just now,
so he didn't need to be a third wheel now. Maybe these two would have some progress if he wasn't
there.
Luz followed Declan downstairs. He busied himself in the kitchen while Luz thought about their
upcoming talk.
The beige style of decoration made the originally empty space a little warmer. The kitchen and dining
room lights accentuated this feeling further. The lighting was very condusive to the appetite.
Declan put on his apron and washed his hands before getting started with the cooking. The sound and
smell of sizzling oil made the space even more homely.
She took a deep breath and did not let herself get lost in this nostalgic feeling.
"You must pay attention to the temperature and the heat when you're cooking the noodles. The sauce
will taste better if you pan fry the tomatoes first. Your style of cooking is too plain, so it's all just looks
but no taste."
