Fell Into His Love Trap (Skylar and Tobias)

Chapter 667 The Joneses Owe You An Apology

Chapter 667 The Joneses Owe You An Apology

Avery drained the glass of champagne in her hand. “This is the quietest birthday banquet our family

has ever had. I hope you're happy. Your mother's actions have caused my parents to split up. Both of

you b*tches have caused enough trouble for my family.”

Skylar narrowed her eyes. “Takes one to know one. I didn't like having the unpleasant past resurfacing

as well, but some of us can't seem to let it go. It's a cruel irony for Irene, huh? Your mother had already

begun seducing my father when my mother was pregnant with me. Just because her family has some

money to throw around, she made my father leave my mother. Worst of all, you're already scheming to

hire somebody for kidnapping at the age of twenty. Don't you dare think you can frighten me by hiring

some punk. Your tactics are becoming more pathetic by the day.”

Skylar's knowledge of the matter took Avery by surprise. Despite her beautiful face contorting in fear,

she stuck stubbornly to her guns. “How dare you accuse me of such a thing? Where did you even hear

that? I treat you like my sister and you're calling me a kidnapper?”

Skylar took out her phone and showed Avery the receipt that Charles sent her. “You can't even get

someone reliable to do your dirty work,” she said with disgust. “He told me everything he knew for far

less money than you paid him. Stop pretending to be innocent, it's getting old. If you remain in denial

any longer, you might forget who you actually are.”

Initially worried that Skylar was secretly recording her, Avery knew that the former had nothing upon

seeing the receipt backed by nothing else.

Avery gazed at Skylar with her hand over her mouth and eyes brimming with tears. “Why did you have

to say such mean things?” she cried, enunciating every word so that all the guests in the vicinity could Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.

hear her. “I know you never really liked me because you think that I took away the fatherly love meant

for you, but you're wrong! I've always wanted to patch things up with you over the years yet you never

gave me the chance to! What do you want me to do so that you'll stop blaming me for all of these

claims? If it means reconnecting with you, I would admit to anything, Skylar.”

By that point, the chatter had quietened down so much that Avery's bitter sobs reverberated throughout

the hall.

Prior to the outburst, Avery had surreptitiously spilled some champagne on her dress. Coincidentally,

only a little remained in Skylar's glass.

A group of people, including Colleen, surrounded them. Based on her horror-struck expression, she

seemed to be under the impression that Skylar had thrown her glass of wine at Avery.

With her head on her grandmother's shoulder, Avery wept her heart out.

With the sudden realization of how incriminating the glass looked in her hand, Skylar placed it on the

table as a cold glint flashed across her eyes.

“What are you doing, Skylar?” scolded Colleen. “Why do you have to make everybody uncomfortable

on your father's birthday? Since yesterday, your sister couldn't stop talking about how excited she was

to see you and how you two have a lot to talk about.”

Skylar smiled grimly. Turns out they're all in this together. Why am I not surprised?

She recalled how she had been moved to tears when Colleen came to see her several days ago.

The old lady had apologized profusely on behalf of the Jones family and reiterated how she missed her

favorite granddaughter.
