Chapter 710 Alter The Screenings
Skylar took a sip of her coffee and turned toward Marcus as she asked, “How did you know? Is it that
obvious that I suffered losses?”
Marcus pulled up a chair and sat down in front of her. “I know that investment manager of yours. He
mentioned it while we were having a drink at the bar. He said you suffered the biggest loss among all
the female celebrities.”
Skylar felt speechless when she heard that.
My goodness... Why did he have to go around talking about that? Losing money isn't exactly something to be proud of! “It's fine! Losses are common in investments, after all! There's no such thing as a
perfect investment!” she said with a smile.
Marcus waved his hands. “You're right. I suppose you willingly let Tobias talk you into this. That cunning
fox sure is lucky to have found an innocent little bunny like you! Honestly, you two don't seem
compatible at all.”
“I think a fox and a bunny would make a pretty cute pair. There's even an animated film featuring that,
you know?” Skylar retorted with an awkward smile.
Marcus couldn't help but chuckle in amusement when he saw how well Skylar was taking it.
Skylar then lowered her voice as she continued, “That movie you're sponsoring has a very low number
of screenings. Aren't you afraid of losing money? I mean, you did invest a lot of money in it.”
Marcus simply handed her a list of screenings from the nearest movie theater.
That was when Skylar realized ninety percent of the movie theaters chose the commercial plazas
under Ford Group.
In other words, Ford Group had every right to alter the screenings at will. Her movie was given the late-
night slots at around eleven and twelve. As it was the holiday season, no one would be willing to head
out that late to watch such an ordinary film.
“The only way to save the film is to increase its screenings. All Tobias has to do is give the word.”
Skylar immediately understood what he was trying to say. Although Marcus acted as though he didn't
care, he was still concerned about the profits he would stand to make from the film.
After all, nobody would willingly give up on an opportunity to make more money.
Even so, Skylar pretended not to understand what he was implying.
“You can go talk to Tobias about this. Increasing the film's screenings should be a piece of cake for
him. It's as I said, all he has to do is give the word,” Marcus continued.
Skylar cleared her throat and said coldly, “No. You're his brother, so it would be more appropriate for
you to bring this up instead. There's no way he'd agree to help me out.” Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
“You make a good point. Tobias wouldn't have given you this screening arrangement if he really did
want to help you out. If this goes on, you're going to be labeled as a bane among filmmakers,” Marcus
replied.
Skylar simply pursed her lips and kept quiet.
Tobias' siblings are taking turns messing with me. He might not know this, but I have a holiday season
movie that's going to be released this year.
“Oh, well... It doesn't really matter to me. I've done what I could, so I'm not going to cheat by altering
the results,” she said with a casual chuckle.
Marcus let out a sigh as he realized his first step into the military film industry would end in failure.
The producers sent him the completed file a few days ago. Although that was a film that he had
sponsored, it turned out to be a total mess. That was why he had to resort to such means.
That was the first time Skylar had seen Marcus wait for her response.
As Skylar went on stage, Marcus saw that quite a number of her fans had shown up. His sister, Ingrid,
was standing right next to Skylar.
When he saw Ingrid standing right next to Skylar, he felt the urge to remind her that she should watch
her diet after starring in a movie. She had put on a lot of weight in just a short amount of time and could
easily exceed two hundred pounds if she didn't keep it under control.
As they did not turn on the heaters at the venue, it got so cold that all the journalists were shivering.
As if that wasn't bad enough, the building that the filming crew chose was old and hadn't been
renovated in ages. Even the paint on the floor had faded away.
