Chapter 715 Too Old To Be Throwing Punches
Chapter 715 Too Old To Be Throwing Punches
Skylar jolted awake from her dreams and switched on the bedside lamp. The first rays of dawn were
slowly filtering into the room, yet Tobias was nowhere to be found, and her WhatsApp showed no
unread messages.
Feeling parched, Skylar slipped on her slippers and made her way downstairs in search of water, as
the jug in her room had run dry. From the second-floor landing, she could see that the light on the first
floor was still illuminated. Tobias, dressed in a crisp white shirt, leaned against the couch. Several
buttons were undone, revealing a blood-stained collar.
She pinched her thighs firmly, the sharp pain confirming that this was not a figment of her imagination.
Regaining her composure, Skylar hastened down the stairs. Tobias glanced up upon hearing the
commotion. “Did I wake you?”
From her vantage point on the staircase, she noticed a large gash on Tobias' arm. A medical kit lay on
the coffee table, and he held a bandage in his other hand, attempting to dress the wound himself.
Skylar seized the iodine solution and asked, “What happened to you? Did you get into a fight? How did
you end up with such a nasty cut on your arm? You're too old to be throwing punches like those
youngsters.”
Tobias closed his eyes and replied wearily, “So, should I just stand there and let them beat me up
because I'm older? I have to defend myself.”
Skylar's head throbbed as his words sank in.
She couldn't fathom who would have the audacity to lay a hand on him. After all, he was not someone
to be trifled with.
Skylar delicately tended to Tobias' wounds, gently applying the cotton soaked in iodine solution.
Despite the obvious pain, Tobias maintained a stoic composure, displaying an impressive threshold for
pain.
It made Skylar wonder if he could endure the most intense levels of simulated labor pain with such
unwavering resilience.
“Who did this to you?” Skylar's voice carried a tinge of caution, wary of evoking feelings of shame
within Tobias.
In a gravelly voice, Tobias responded, “It was my brother. He got into a brawl at the bar. He reacted too
slowly, failing to dodge a bottle thrown at him. So, I stepped in and took the blow instead.”
Skylar wasn't entirely surprised by the revelation. Sheldon had always been a troublemaker, and she
had heard that Tobias raised him single-handedly. Concern for Tobias' future children began to weigh
on her mind, contemplating whether they might inherit any of Sheldon's poor attitude.
As she finished wrapping the bandage, Skylar voiced her worry. “Shouldn't we go to the hospital to
have this stitched up? It would be dreadful if the wound became infected. I recall a neighbor who—”
“No need. It's just a cut. Instead, I have a question for you.” His interruption put an abrupt halt to her
well-intentioned concern, indicating his aversion to further admonishment.
Skylar diverted her gaze, a sense of impending dread washing over her as Tobias' intense eyes locked
onto hers. From NôvelDrama.Org.
He motioned toward the couch, silently indicating for her to take a seat.
Skylar maintained a composed facade, summoning the courage to confront the issue head-on, despite
the apprehension gnawing at her from within.
Skylar flashed him an innocent smile as she adopted a sweet, gentle tone.
