Fell Into His Love Trap (Skylar and Tobias)

Chapter 730 Why Should I Help You

Chapter 730 Why Should I Help You

Skylar's schedule was jam-packed as the end of the year approached. She had been traveling to various cities to promote the movie. Reporters repeatedly brought up her relationship with Marcus, so she had to clarify the situation patiently.

Although she had been in Bellridge the previous day, she had landed in Gerton and was staying in Seasons Hotel for the last promotional activity of The Ballad of 1978 that night. After getting off the stage, she didn't want to say anything because she was exhausted.

In a restaurant at the hotel, Skylar chose a table near the windows. The dinner buffet was lavish, but she only chose a small piece of sea salt cheesecake. Due to exhaustion, she had lost her appetite. She used to long to travel to other cities but couldn't afford the transportation and lodging costs.

Now that she finally had the chance to travel, she was too tired and preferred to stay in bed.

Marcus sat opposite Skylar, holding a plate of meat. With his long legs stretched out from under the table, he could easily trip someone passing by.

Skylar cut a small piece of her cake with a golden fork and stated, “Don't you have a sense of decency? Are you trying to show off your long legs?”

Only then did Marcus retract his legs and sit properly. “Why are you eating so little? Are you trying to look like a skeleton?”

Skylar scanned her surroundings and noticed a few people staring at Marcus and her. She had tried to keep her distance from Marcus, but he would always approach her eagerly.

“If I were trying to look like a skeleton, I would have taken a plate of broccoli. Why would I eat cake?”

Marcus stared at her and thought her fair neck was missing something.

He took a rectangular box from his pocket and placed it in front of Skylar. “As a producer, I'm generous to my crew members. This is a gift for you. You can open it and have a look. It's not something valuable, and it's far less than what Tobias can give you. It's the thought that counts.”

Skylar opened the box to reveal a gold-encrusted jade pendant on a white gold chain. It was a piece of jewelry that would appeal to older women's preferences.

She closed the box swiftly. Marcus' smile widened as the lid slid shut with a snap.

“You don't like it? This necklace belonged to someone I knew. She loved it, but she's no longer here. I didn't want to throw away such a lovely piece of jewelry, so I gave it to you.”

A glint flashed past Skylar's eyes. Is Marcus giving me something that belonged to a deceased person? Is he trying to upset me at this late hour?

The sky outside the window had turned pitch black. Material © NôvelDrama.Org.

Looking cold, Skylar said sternly, “Mr. Ford, if you have something to say, just say it. There's no reason to approach me intentionally and beat around the bush. I don't have time to play games with you.”

Marcus smiled faintly. “You can pass this necklace to Tobias and see if he recognizes it.”

Skylar tightened her grip on the rectangular box. What's with Marcus and Tobias? She took the box. “What if he doesn't recognize it? Do I return the necklace to you?”

Marcus arched a brow. “He's a forgetful person, so it's typical for him to forget. Just pass him the necklace for me.”

Skylar mumbled to herself, “What a lunatic! Why don't you pass it to him yourself? I'm not a deliverywoman. Why should I help you pass it to him?”
