Chapter 735 Small Talk
Chapter 735 Small Talk
Allie was heartbroken by Sheldon's attitude. She had even considered refraining from such drastic measures if Sheldon would discuss things with her.
However, he did not even do her the courtesy of hearing her out. Worse still, he was parading other girls in front of her as if he had forgotten they had slept together not long ago and that she had carried his child.
“Aren't you afraid that I would tell your mother, Mr. Ford? I believe Mrs. Ford would want to know about her son's antics.”
Sheldon scowled. “Are you threatening me? Wake up! She's my mother, and she will take my side no matter what I have done. Do you really think she would take a servant's side over mine? I only slept with you from having too much to drink, yet you wouldn't leave me be. What do you want me to do?”
Allie did not bother to argue with Sheldon any longer. She decided to endure the humility as she needed the job. She believed Sheldon's heart would soften with time for her.
It's no use saying anything else. Sheldon would just think I'm forcing him.
Judy watched as Tobias lit a cigarette.
Then, he tossed the pack to her.
He expected a girl who had been on the streets since her teens to know how to smoke. True enough, Judy's fingers moved with the finesse of a veteran smoker.
Gripping the cigarette by its filter with her teeth, she waited for Tobias to light the cigarette for her, but he did nothing.
What the hell? Aren't you supposed to light the cigarette of whoever you're offering it to? So Tobias is like that. Although he's never showy, his bossy presence follows him around and makes him uncomfortable to be around.
Judy examined the layout of the study and found a bookshelf several meters tall behind him. Her neck grew sore from looking at the top shelf.
She pulled a face teasingly. “You big bosses like to have a huge bookshelf to come across very learned, but you never read them and actually know nothing.”
Tobias glanced behind him without offering Judy an explanation. He had read most of the books in his collection.
However, after he met Skylar, he devoted all his spare time outside of work to her and thus no longer had the time to sit quietly to read a book.
He had also become restless and irritable to reap much joy from perusing the written word.
Right then, Skylar called, and Tobias picked up. It was loud on her end.
She told him she would like to go home earlier and asked if he could come get her. Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
Tobias did not give her a definitive answer and instead only informed her that they had not begun their meals and their rituals.
I don't even know what time this will be over.
Judy's expression changed after he hung up. Seated across from him, she regarded him with a look that was less than friendly. “Was that your girlfriend?”
“Are you looking to make small talk, or are you curious?” Tobias asked.
Judy massaged her neck. “Neither. I'm more curious as to how well you know your girlfriend. Do you know what a nasty person she is? She is born to deceive men.”
That was the first time Tobias had heard somebody speaking poorly of Skylar to his face. Determined not to spare Judy any of his time, he started his computer and began addressing the growing pile of emails.
He had not managed to address many of them and he had accumulated a massive backlog as a result.
