Chapter 136
Chapter 136
The waiter took Estelle to the 8th floor. Upon opening the door, he respectfully announced, “Ms.
Macclain is here!
Positioned behind the waiter, Estelle struggled to discern the individuals within the dimly lit private
room, as it was occupied by a mix
of men and women.
Suddenly, someone approached the waiter and whispered something confidentially into his ear.
The waiter turned to Estelle with a smile and said, “The birthday person inside wants you to personally
hand them the cake and wish them a happy birthday.”
Estelle raised her eyebrows and asked, “Is the birthday person a young lady?”
Without any hesitation, the waiter answered, “Yes!”
Estelle thought that this girl probably fancied Manley and knew that she was sent by him, so she made
such a request.
Since she had already come so far, she saw no reason to decline such a small request. After all, you
gotta help people all the way!
She nodded, “Alright.”
The waiter communicated with the person by the door, and then gestured to Estelle to enter, “Please,
Ms. Macclain!”
Estelle took the cake out of the box and held it in her hands as she walked into the room.
The lights were off inside the room, and it was pitch dark, with the outlines of people’s faces barely
visible.
The person sitting in the middle of the sofa was wearing a glowing “Happy Birthday” hair clip. Estelle
recognized them easily and walked closer, close enough to see each other’s silhouettes.
Estelle stopped and looked at the person across from her.
The room fell into an eerie silence, as if only the two of them existed in that moment.
After a brief pause, the man chuckled and remarked, “Aren’t you going to wish me a happy birthday?”
Gritting her teeth, Estelle retorted, “Manley, do you find this amusing?”
Whistle sounds rang out in the room, followed by dim yellow lights turning on. People gathered around,
laughing.
Manley, with the hair clip on his head and his handsome face, looked at Estelle with a mischievous
smile, “Thank you for the cake!”
As a wave of anger surged within her, Estelle fixed a cold gaze upon him. The temptation to smash the
cake in his irritating face was
strong.
However, she refrained from acting on her impulse because she couldn’t bear the thought of wasting
the cake.
It was made by Emily personally, and she had paid for it. She couldn’t just ruin it!
Estelle had a stern face as she turned around and left, still holding the cake.
The nearby 8809 room on the same floor was filled with lively chatter and noise. Jonathan found
himself sitting in the lounge area, engaged in conversation with Charlie. Meanwhile, others in the room
played cards and sang, intermittently extending invitations to Jonathan to join them. However, upon
sensing his somber mood, they would awkwardly retreat, leaving him to his thoughts.
Charlie flipped through his phone and suddenly smirked, showing Jonathan the screen, “You said that
girl isn’t Manley’s person, look at what Manley posted!”
Ten minutes ago, Manley posted a message on social media, saying, “Thank you, my dear. I’m happy
with anything you give me!” Below were two photos. One was a picture of the cake with the words, “I
love you” prominently displayed. This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.
Another photo showed a screenshot of a chat conversation. The other person asked if he was satisfied
with the cake, and Manley replied with a “Yes!” and “Thank you, babe!”
Charlie laughed, “Look at the cake box. Isn’t it the same one that girl was holding earlier? Seems like
he really likes her!”
Jonathan’s gaze remained fixed on the picture of the cake, reading the chat messages repeatedly, until
his eyes settled on the words “1 love you.” His stare turned frigid and devoid of warmth.
A surge of emotions flooded his chest, causing his face to adopt a gloomy and somber demeanor, as if
it could drip with sorrowful tears. Within moments, he abruptly stood up and briskly walked away, taking
long strides that conveyed his determination.
