Chapter 2301

Was Sylvia able to keep her brother around?

She watched as Grandpa stepped out of the study, emerging from Jonathan Lamont's embrace, "Let's head back!"

Back in the living room, everyone resumed watching the evening show. At ten o'clock, Old Wade came over, handing Old Mr. Jarvis a box.NôvelDrama.Org exclusive content.

Mr. Jarvis pulled out four intricately carved mahogany boxes from it, chuckling, "Wade and I are off to sip some tea and chat in the room. These are your New Year's gifts. I'll leave them here. They're labeled with your names, so feel free to divide them amongst yourselves."

Sylvia Jarvis knew the gift was pricey the moment she laid eyes on the boxes and was hesitant to accept such an expensive gift from Old Mr. Jarvis. She was about to stand up and politely refuse when Gabriel grabbed her hand.

Holding her wrist gently, he whispered, "You must accept anything Grandpa gives. Don't upset the old man."

Sylvia didn't dare to object any further.

Old Mr. Jarvis, with a warm smile, stood up and addressed Sylvia, "This is our first New Year together as grandfather and granddaughter. It's a tradition for elders to give gifts to the younger ones. Gabriel is right, you must accept it!"

Sylvia felt a warmth in her heart and gratefully said, "Thank you, Old Mr. Jarvis!"

With a nod and a smile, Mr. Jarvis advised, "Wade and I are off to have our tea. You kids have fun but don't stay up too late. Get some rest early." They all stood up to see Mr. Jarvis off, who waved his hand and slowly walked out, with Old Wade waiting outside with a lantern. The two elders gradually walked away together.

Gabriel handed Sylvia her New Year's gift, "Let's see what Grandpa got you?"

Holding it in her hands, it felt heavy, and she was filled with an indescribable feeling. This was the first time she had ever received a New Year's gift in her life.

Back when she was with her foster parents, the family was poor, and only the biological children received New Year's money; she never did. So, for her, this was a very special gift.

She decided to keep the box closed, looking at Gabriel, "Since it's a New Year's gift, I'll open it tomorrow."

She was a bit reluctant to unveil it.

Gabriel responded, "That's fine."

Estelle Macclain chimed in with a smile, "Then we'll all wait until after midnight to open ours."

After a bit more chatting, Jonathan suggested, "We've got plenty of fireworks left. Let's go set them off!"

"Sure!"

"Let's do it!"

Estelle and Sylvia exclaimed in unison, sharing a smile before heading outside.

Mr. Justin and Tanner moved the fireworks out, laying them neatly in the yard.

Gabriel lit a match, igniting the first row of fireworks. In an instant, bursts of light filled the yard, illuminating everything like daylight. Estelle laughed, "Watch this!"

She took a box of matches, flicking

one with her finger. The match sparked against the flint, sending sparks flying directly to the fireworks on the ground!

The fuse lit, hissing as the firework soared into the air, bursting into a kaleidoscope of colors against the night sky.

Sylvia, mesmerized by Estelle's flair, exclaimed, "I want to try too!"

Gabriel chuckled, "People who haven't mastered the art shouldn't attempt to show off, it'll only bring embarrassment!"

Under the fireworks, Sylvia's

features shone brightly, her chin

slightly lifted, "I was taught by you,

so if anyone's embarrassed, it's you, not me!"

Gabriel smiled softly, "Knowing you're getting older, you've certainly become braver."

Sylvia's eyebrows lifted, her demeanor more triumphant.

Estelle and Jonathan exchanged glances, their laughter adding beauty to the moment.

Sylvia, attempting to mimic Estelle

flicked

Howe match with style. , the match flew out t

igniting, let alone lighting any fireworks.

She shrugged helplessly, looking at Gabriel, "Seems I did end up embarrassing you after all!"
