It seemed like she agreed while she was sleeping
Estelle frowned, apparently her reactions and alertness were gone this morning. Was it because she w
as too tired yesterday?
The gathering was on Saturday, and she needed to take a day off with Jonathan.
After class, Estelle called Jonathan. After two rings, someone answered, “Hello?”
“It’s me, Estelle!” Estelle said hurriedly.
Jonathan seemed to chuckle, “I know, you’ve called me with this number before.”
Estelle paused, realizing it was the night she went to Blue Dasis with Emily, wanting to call Magdalen b
ut accidentally called him instead. She couldn’t help but feel her face heat up.
The man asked, “What’s up?”
Estelle snapped back to reality, and said in a light tone, “I have something going on this Saturday and
won’t be able to teach Henson. I’m taking the day off.”
“Okay, no problem. I’ll tell him.” Jonathan’s voice was casual.
“Thanks, bye!”
“No problem!”
After hanging up the phone, Estelle was lost in thought. What exactly was their relationship right now?
A couple? Sex partners? Employer and employee?
It was so confusing!
The next day was Saturday, and it had been raining since early morning. Estelle took a cab to the
Macclain Mansion.
Estelle’s grandparents were both still alive Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
They had three sons: Corley Macclain, the eldest, married to Natalia with a daughter named Sabina Ma
cclain.
The second child was Bennett, married to Simone, with two daughters: Estelle and Carmella.
The youngest was Garrett Macclain, married to Leonie, with their oldest daughter Sallie Macclain, a 19
–year–old, third–
year student at the Art University in J City, and their second child Hans Macclain, 10 years old.
The Macclain Mansion was located in an old villa district in N City, filled with ancient European–
style villas. The people living here were all from old aristocratic families of J City.
Because of the rain, the taxi driver wanted to do this pretty young girl a favor, and drove a little further i
nto the mansion.
Ward, the old housekeeper, saw the taxi coming and pretended not to notice, turned around and walke d into the yard.
The only one who would come by taxi had to be Bennett’s eldest daughter.
Sure enough, he walked into the yard just as Estelle was getting out of the taxi. He couldn’t help but sn
eer.
Estelle walked through the courtyard towards the main house.
Maid Mae, holding a plate of fruit, looked over and sneered, “Miss Estelle is here!”
The people in the room were lively, with her third uncle’s family surrounding her grandparents, Terrence
Macclain and Mrs. Macclain. Hearing Mae’s voice, they all
went silent for a moment.
Estelle walked over and greeted them politely.
“Oh, Estelle’s here today too!” Leonie said exaggeratedly. “What a rare guest, we haven’y seen you in
a while!”
“Sit down, help yourself to some fruit, Mrs. Macclain glanced at Estelle and continued watching the vide
o of Hans participating in a television show.
Estelle had attended two family gatherings and was familiar with their tone and attitude. She found a co
rner to sit down.
Hans
ran over and showed Estelle his phone, asking.” Estelle, do you know how to play video games? Let’s
play together!”
Estelle glanced at it and saw it was the same game she usually played with Henson. She replied truthfu
lly, “I’m not good at video games!”
Hans was enthusiastic, Tll teach you!”
Estelle took out her phone, “Okay, let me get one more player”
Suddenly Ward ran in, and his excited voice pierced the entire hall, “Lord, Madam, the first lady and Mi
ss Sabina have arrived!”
