Chapter 759: I’m not running, really
Lucila and Neto spent the night at Alanzo’s house and the next morning, after breakfast, they set out to drive back to Ciudad del Cielo.
Before leaving, Alanzo gave Lucila a hug and said in a sincere tone: “Thank you.
He then added to Neto: “If something is difficult, let me know and maybe I can do something for you”.
After her divorce from Innocent, the Pastrano family resented her for a long time.
Perhaps it was wrong for Innocent to have an affair, but it was no great fault in their eyes, and they thought that if they apologised to her and said a few kind words, she should pretend nothing had happened and go on living with Innocent.
But Alanzo can’t do that, she has been managed by other people for the first half of her life, has done nothing wrong and doesn’t want to give up her ego and settle for less.
For a long time after leaving the Pastrano family, she was not allowed to see Marco and Neto.
He is ashamed of them, but has no regrets.
Neto had a slight flash of insight and then realised the meaning of Alanzo’s words.
As far as he remembers, after Alanzo’s divorce from Innocent, she never set foot in the Pastrano family again.
And this time, the implication of her words was that if the Pastrano family persisted in refusing to accept Lucila, she would intervene to resolve the matter.
Neto is still moved in his heart.
As a child, he had hated Alanzo, and then, as he grew up, he came to appreciate his feelings.
“Good.” Neto smiled, his bearing bore a slight resemblance to Alanzo’s, and added, “Mum, you’ve done enough for me, thank you.”
Alanzo was violently stunned and then burst into tears.
…
On the way back, Lucila asked Neto: “When you were a child, did you hate your . mum?”
“Of course I hated her.” Neto hooked his lips and a smirk spread across the corners of his mouth. “Especially as a teenager, I thought she didn’t love me, that I didn’t deserve to be a mother, that I was selfish.”
Lucila, however, could not laugh, and after a moment’s silence said, “I think the worst person is your father, who had to marry you when it was evident that he had a woman he loved very much. Mother, not daring to resist, failed both women”.
There was a tinge of anger in his tone, his expression was a little cold, his hands were clenched into fists, resting in his lap, and his whole person seemed to be angry.
Neto laughed at the look on his face and rubbed his head with his free hand: “Why are you so angry?
Lucila was tempted to say, “Everyone gets punished for being a bastard,” but she swallowed it when she thought it was Neto’s own father.
He turned his head and said: “If you ever do anything like that again, I’ll cut you to pieces and feed you to the dogs!
Neto growled coldly: “I think you’re more likely to do something like that!
Lucila glared at him: “Bullshit!
“You don’t believe me?” Neto raised an eyebrow, “So you intend to marry me?”
Neto jumped on the subject so quickly that Lucila was confused: “What?
…
Three hours later, the car stopped at the Sky City Civil Affairs Office.
Neto was the first to get out of the car, yanked open the passenger door, looked at a dumbfounded Lucila and said: “Get out.
Lucila not only didn’t get out of the car, but shrank further inside and frowned at Neto: “What’s the point of coming here?”
Neto was patient and asked: “What can the public administration do?
Lucila also answered with sincerity: “Marriage!
“So …”
“Then what are we doing here? We can’t be here to get married, can we?” Lucila looked confused.
Neto’s patience finally ran out and he bent down, picked up Lucila and headed for the Civil Registry.
It was then that Lucila realised that Neto was really here.
He struggled to get down.
“Neto, calm down, even if you want to get married, we don’t have a ledger!”
“You don’t have to worry about that”.
Lucila added: “Today is the week …”.
“Monday is a day of the week”.
Lucila no longer knows what to say.
The two of them had reached the lobby and Lucila noticed that people were looking at them from all sides.
A little embarrassed, she whispered to Neto: “Put me down now!
It’s a disgrace!
“No.” Neto is thick-skinned and determined.
Lucila said hastily: “I’m not going to run, really.
Neto then stopped and kissed her before putting her down: “I told you so”.
As soon as Lucila fell to the ground, he reached out and twisted her arm.
As if he didn’t feel the pain, Neto took her by the hand and went to the queue, full of joy: “Hurry up, there will be less people, we’ll get in the queue first”.
Lucila was dragged by him to the tail.
When it was his turn, Neto, as if by magic, pulled two account books out of thin air.
Lucila looked at him dumbfounded: “Where did you get that from?
“Your account book, eh?” Neto waved his account book and said, “He took it out of his bag before coming to Ciudad del Cielo. ”
Lucila then remembered that she had gone home earlier and brought her account book, she was going to get a pass and did not expect to be found by Neto.
“How did you find out?”
“What can’t a person find out if they have a heart?”
Neto grinned and was so excited that his hands were shaking a little as he filled in the forms.
Lucila glared at him, “Insidious! You brought me to Ciudad del Cielo just to trick me and come and get a marriage licence?”
“Half and half. Without looking up, Neto finished filling in his own form, and seeing that Lucila hadn’t moved her pen much, he held out his hand to hers, “You’re too slow, I’ll fill it in for you.”
With that, she took shape in front of Lucila.
“Hey, you …” Lucila wanted to take it back, but when she looked at Neto with a look of fear that he would back down and run away, her heart softened and she didn’t make another sound.
She had no idea that Neto had already moved to marry her when he decided to bring her back to Ciudad del Cielo.
She thought that Neto, with his nature, would not want to marry so soon.
After Neto helped her fill it out, she handed the pen back to him: “Quick, sign here in the affirmative and sign yourself.
Lucila looked at Neto’s impatient face, suppressed a smile and signed her name. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
Until the little red book was in her hand, Lucila continued to have a surreal feeling.
Married to Neto?
Shit, where’s the wedding?
Satisfied, Neto put away the red marriage certificate, took Lucila’s hand and said with a smile, “Honey, let’s go”.
Lucila withdrew it in one fluid motion, grunted and walked to the front.
He shook his head and sighed as he walked.
How did you get a licence with Neto so easily?
No proposal! No ring. He had never even met his parents.
I also wonder if his parents will skin Neto when they meet his parents.
Thinking about it, he began to feel a little sympathy for Neto.
Neto reached behind her and grabbed her hand in a death grip, his ten fingers intertwined as if he couldn’t pull it away no matter how hard he tried.
“Daughter-in-law, go home and let Aeneas cook you something delicious”.
