Chapter 93: I Only Want the Children
Chapter 93: I Only Want the Children
Kenneth didn’t reply to her question. Instead, he suddenly laughed as if everything was alright as he
adjusted his shirt and said, “You already said that I am an adult. If I can’t even handle this properly, how
can I be a father to my daughter and son?”
Rachel was speechless. She suddenly felt that all her anger and outburst had fallen on deaf ears. This
man practically disregarded whatever she said. Furthermore, it was obvious that he wouldn’t tell her
whatever he planned to do.
She didn’t want to have to experience again something that would catch her off guard.
“What do you…”
“Rachel.” He suddenly raised his head and his expression darkened considerably and looked very
serious, “Do you know what the consequences of doing are as you suggested?”
Rachel’s eyes lit up and was quiet for a couple of seconds. She then said, “I only want the children.”
What consequences could there be? Wouldn’t she lose the job and be labeled as an adulterer. She
was concerned about these but they were nothing compared to having the children.
Kenneth’s pupils constricted and his entire demeanor became chillingly cold. He felt a wave of feelings
as he looked at her but maintained his silence.
…
The ending was always unhappy whenever the conversation was about the children. This time was the
same. He didn’t lose his temper at her but turned to leave and didn’t return.
Rachel was able to guess why he was upset but she didn’t feel that she was in the wrong. She had no
one to depend on and naturally could only fight for herself. They had already divorced and the person
who she didn’t want to depend on was him.
She stayed in the patient's room till the night and Kenneth still did not return. Rachel was sure that he
had left the hospital. She was considering whether she should leave the hospital and return to the
hotel. However, she didn’t leave and although she was still angry, she calmed down and took out her
notebook, and prepared to do some work.
In fact, Kenneth didn’t leave but was outside taking a smoke as he was very frustrated. He had never
smoked but recently he seemed to be addicted. Each time he felt frustrated he would smoke two
cigarettes.
He waited for a while for the smell of the smoke to dissipate before returning to the patient’s room.
Unexpectedly, Geoffrey called and laughed mercilessly when he heard about Kenneth’s issues.
Geoffrey drove over immediately and dragged him to a nearby pub.
“Next time, can you take me to a place other than a pub?” Kenneth became even more frustrated with
all the noise around them and looked upset.
Geoffrey drank a mouthful and said without a care in the world, “There are desperate men and women
here. This place is very suitable for drowning one’s sorrows and perfect for your current state.”
Kenneth rolled his eyes at him and stood up to leave. He didn’t forget about what happened last time. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
“Hey, hey…” Geoffrey was stunned and placed down his glass and chased after him out of the pub and
yelled, “Then let’s go to another place.”
“Piss off!” Kenneth walked into the dark of the night without looking back. As he walked away, he took
out his phone to have a look. He came out for so long and she didn’t even give him a call.
Was she still angry?
Geoffrey caught up with him and could guess from his demeanor and laughed, “Since she didn’t call,
then just call her.”
Kenneth couldn’t be bothered with him and kept his phone. He looked at a nearby night market,
recalled something, and said, “Do you know Ogden Reed?”
“Ogden?” Geoffrey was stunned, narrowed his eyes, and said, “This name sounds familiar...”
“Director of F&R Group.” Geoffrey’s eyes lit up, “That’s him, I remember now. I saw him once when I
went with my father to a cocktail party. But at that time I was too preoccupied with chatting with the
beautiful women and didn’t pay attention to him.
Kenneth was speechless, rolled his eyes, and then said, “He had set his sights on City N and had
caused a stir. I wonder what his intentions are.”
