Heartstrings on Fire (Agnes and Jared)

Chapter 842

Chapter 842

Indeed, Agnes recognized the faces, but some names escaped her, so she could only offer a vague

"hello."

Agnes, however, left a lasting impression on everyone.

Back in the day, she was the talk of the town.

She was the celebrated Mrs. Whitfield, whose husband, the president of the Tim Group, was known for

spoiling her rotten throughout the city.

But then, word got out they had divorced.

"Agnes, how could we forget you? You were a star that shone so bright. I still remember 'The Magical

Romance of Cinderella' you filmed with Justin, right at our school. The whole place was abuzz. We all ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .

stayed at the dorms over summer break, just hoping for a glimpse of you two."

"I was hooked on that show too. It was a hit. But Agnes, with all that fame, why did you step away from

the spotlight?" The classmate who asked this had been studying abroad as an exchange student and

was out of the loop on recent events.

Amelia quickly stepped in to smooth things over, "Agnes had bigger dreams than show biz; she's a

journalism major with a love for the media. She went on to pursue further studies and now she's the

star host of a hit TV show."

"Oh, I remember now! You host 'The Primary Perspective,' right? I just watched your segment on the

hospital protest. Agnes, you were so on point, the reporting was top-notch."

In no time, all eyes were on Agnes.

Amelia chimed in, "Alright, let's take our seats."

After Agnes sat down, Amelia addressed her, "I hate to bring this up, but as you know, the government

is supporting a lot of professional schools right now, and our alma mater, Lakeside College, is on the

list of potential beneficiaries. Our school has always had a bit of a private edge, but this government

backing could make us one of the top institutions in the nation—a true legacy. So, could you possibly

use your TV connections to feature our school, to share the history and accomplishments of Lakeside

College, including its many distinguished alumni?"

No wonder Amelia was being so attentive; she had a favor to ask.

But for Agnes, it was no big deal—just a bit of her time and effort.

Besides, she held Lakeside College close to her heart and was more than willing to help.

Agnes responded, "No problem at all. Promoting our school is a duty for every Lakeside College alum."

Amelia's face lit up with joy, "I knew you'd be up for it, Agnes!"

Standing up, Amelia raised her glass to rally everyone at the table, "Here's to Agnes!"

Everyone stood, toasting in her honor.

Agnes, who couldn't drink alcohol, raised her juice glass in return.

But being at the main table, such a commotion drew the attention of other guests. Soon enough, more

people wandered over with their glasses, curious about the fuss.

Amelia, seizing the opportunity to showcase her, pushed Agnes into the limelight.

The toasts kept coming.

Though she was only drinking juice, Agnes felt overwhelmed by the attention.

She had intended to make a brief appearance and leave.

But now, surrounded by a crowd, escaping was not an option.

Before long, Cecile also came over with her drink in hand.

Inevitably, the expected encounters were inescapable.
