Chapter 554 The Ending For Lysanne
In a state of confusion, Lysanne was completely engulfed by darkness. By the time she woke up, she found herself lying in an unfamiliar place..
Surrounded by complete darkness, she was lying on a bed that was both hard and worn out. Accustomed to a life of luxury, she couldn’t tolerate such conditions. She immediately sat up and complained, “What kind of godforsaken place is this? Where on earth have you brought me?”
Accompanied by a soft click, someone flipped on the light switch.
Lysanne soon realized that the room she was in actually had a window. However, the outside was so dark that she couldn’t see her hand in front of her face. Thus, no light had been able to penetrate through earlier.
Carol walked in alone, her voice nonchalantly breaking the silence. “You’re awake.”
Subconsciously shrinking back, Lysanne asked, “When do you plan on letting me go? If I’m missing for too long, it won’t go unnoticed!” This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
As Lysanne spoke, she began to look around, attempting to find an opportunity to escape. However, the view outside the window was utterly unfamiliar, and the same was true for the room itself.
The room appeared to be a typical living space, yet the furniture was pitifully sparse. Apart from a wooden bed, there was only a table and a chair. Even the small window on the door was patched up with
newspaper.
Carol responded with a poker face, “From now on, this will be your room. Feel free to make yourself at home.”
In disbelief, Lysanne questioned, “What are you babbling about? How could I possibly live in a place like this? Holding someone in captivity is illegal, you know!”
Carol nodded. “I know, but for that to work, someone would need to know you’re here. As for calling the police, the law here doesn’t seem to work for you.”
Upon detecting the hidden meaning in her words, Lysanne quickly made her way toward the door.
The bodyguards in black who had escorted her earlier were stationed outside. Upon seeing Lysanne emerge, they didn’t immediately stop her. Instead, they allowed her to take a few steps down the corridor before she halted on her own.
Lysanne clearly observed the corridor, which was even more rundown than the room, and a few individuals with foreign features not far off.
Right then, she knew she a foreign land.
was in
Lysanne rushed back into the room, intending to confront Carol, but she was calmly sidestepped by the
latter.
The bodyguards outside the door immediately stepped in, positioning themselves between her and Carol.
Carol, with case, asked, “Is there anything else you don’t understand?”

Take me back with you. I promise I won’t cause any more trouble!”
“Ms. Thorne, I must remind you that I am no one to you and won’t believe a word you say. Also, this is not some godforsaken place. It’s an overseas orphanage that Mr. Guerra donates to every year. You grew up in a place just like this, so you should be quite familiar with it.”
Lysanne recalled the past. Before she was adopted by Howard and Molly, she was just one of the many children in the orphanage, waiting eagerly and hopelessly for a potential adoptive parent.
“No! You’ve got it all wrong!” Lysanne vehemently denied it, her emotions running high. “I’m the prominent young lady of the Thorne family, the woman Josiah has held dear in his heart for countless years. How could I possibly be familiar with a place like this? Move aside! I need to go back!”
Carol didn’t pay her any mind. Instead, she issued a final warning by saying, “You squandered your own opportunity. Since you claimed not to have begged Mr. Howard and his wife to adopt you, then don’t yearn for the good old days. Return to your original life. You were taken care of by the orphanage so that you could live a life as a prominent young lady later. Now, it’s time to give back to the community. Take care of the children here.”
After she said that, she left with her bodyguards. She didn’t even bother to close the door behind her, seemingly unconcerned about the possibility of Lysanne escaping.
Lysanne had a brief breakdown in her room. Seeing that they had no intention of returning, she hastily
ran out.
As Carol had pointed out, this was indeed an orphanage. However, the conditions were far from ideal. The place was in a state of disrepair everywhere she looked, and that wasn’t even the worst part. The few
seemed to have cognitive issues.
children she encountered were not only thin and small, but they?
Such a dreadful environment reminded Lysanne of experiences she had long since forgotten.
“No way! I absolutely can’t be stuck here, and I certainly can’t hand over the Thorne family’s assets to Lysander. If only she had perished out there! Why on earth did she have to come back and compete with me?”
Lysanne was talking to herself as she ran out of the orphanage’s main gate under the watchful eyes of a group of children. However, she was taken aback by what she saw.
In the depths of the night, the world outside was so dark that not even a single streetlight could be seen. Wherever the eye reached, there was nothing but tall, dense trees. Looking around, it was impossible to find a road. The only visible thing was the tree branches stretching out like ghostly hands.
The small amount of courage Lysanne had managed to muster up vanished without a trace. She tightened. her clothing around her and, steeling herself, ventured further into the forest while calling out, “Help!”
However, no one understood what she was saying
She switched to speaking Stounian, but still, no one paid her any attention.
When the passersby spoke, they all spoke in a language she couldn’t understand at all.
It seemed she had found herself in some obscure little country where she couldn’t understand their language.
All her money and communication devices had been taken away. The situation she was in was absolutely.

hopeless.
Gradually, the path around her became increasingly difficult to traverse. The light emanating from the orphanage grew incredibly dim, almost blurred. If one were to listen closely, one could hear the hooting of an owl.
Lysanne was scared out of her wits in an instant. By the time Alisha, the director of the orphanage, and her team found her, her legs had turned so weak that she could hardly walk.
Alisha was an older nun who didn’t sympathize with Lysanne at all. She had Lysanne half–dragged back to the office. Lysanne then found herself plopped down on the cold, hard tile floor, looking up at the nun.
“I’m Alisha, the director here. You’ll be working here from now on,” Alisha said.
That’s Stounian! The director is speaking in Stounian! Lysanne seemed to have grasped at a last strand of hope. “As long as you let me go, I will pay any amount!”
“No one’s keeping you here against your will. You’re free to leave whenever you want,” Alisha said. Seeing a glimmer of joy on Lysanne’s face, as if she had misunderstood something, Alisha quickly added, “But remember, you’re on your own.”
Lysanne’s expression changed instantly. She swallowed her pride and pleaded, “Could you buy me a plane ticket? I promise I’ll pay you back double.”
Alisha said sternly, “I’m sorry, but I’ve been warned about you. They say you’re quite the deceiver, so 1 won’t take your words at face value.”
Lysanne was so infuriated that she was on the verge of grinding her molars to dust. However, in front of this last strand of hope, she could only say, “It’s all a misunderstanding, and I can explain. If you insist on keeping me here, I’ll turn this place upside down!”
Alisha looked at her with a face full of sorrow. “It seems their decision to have you stay here for atonement is indeed right.”
