His Ex Wife Is A Billionaire

Chapter 108

Chapter 108

Chapter 108 The crowd’s eyes were as sharp as knives, making Glynnis feel like she was nailed to a target. “Glynnis, did you really do it?” Hamiltion’s eyes were filled with shock. Jareth looked indifferent, glaring at the flustered Glynnis. If it weren’t for Marilla accidentally drinking that gla** of wine, she would have been played by this cun ning woman. Evadne was calm, her eyes slightly drooping. A faint smile tugged at the corner of her mouth as if she had seen through all the schemes. “You wicked woman! How dare you slander me?” Glynnis roared, about to charge forward, but was stopped in her tracks by Elspeth. “I’m the heiress of the Abernathy group! Do you know the repercussions of framing me?” She talked big, but inside, she was freaking out. She couldn’t sell out Acacia. Wouldn’t that be the same as admitting she was involved in drugging the wine? Glynnis was sweating buckets. It was only then that she realized Acacia had duped her. “How could you be so vicious? The Abernathy family treats all their ser vants well, yet you tried to drug men and seduce them! And when you got caught, you tried to pin the blame on Glynnis. That’s way out of line! Glynnis just scolded you a bit, and you hold a grudge against her. Now you’re trying to drag her down with you? Dream on!” Elspeth clutched Frederic’s arm tightly, saying, “Call the police right now and have this wicked woman arrested! She’s slandering our daughter!” Frederic naturally didn’t believe that Glynnis would do such a despicable thing, so he ordered sternly, “Seize her and call the police!” “I didn’t, I didn’t! It was Miss Glynnis who told me to do it! She even promised to give me a large sum of money afterwards, so I could live a good life without taking orders from anyone anymore! Glynnis! How could you deny it? It was you who wanted to seduce Mr. Jareth! Speak up! Glynnis!”

The maid’s eyes were wide with anger as she yelled. Elspeth wished she could shut her up and quickly had the maid dragged away. She believed the woman had no evidence, or else she would have brought it out already. Things had escalated to this point, and Evadne had a grip on the situation. But she had a hunch that there was more to it. She had lived with the Abernathy family for three years and knew Glynnis pretty well. She didn’t think Glynnis, with her straightforward personality, could come up with such a scheme.

This seemed more like Elspeth’s doing, but Elspeth wouldn’t use her daughter. So, she suspected the real culprit was Acacia. Evadne also caught a glimpse of the sinister smile on Acacia’s lips. Anger boiled inside her, but she kept it in check. Without proof, making unfounded accusations would only make her look like she was barking at the wrong tree. She couldn’t afford to give Acacia any opportunity to counterstrike. “There have been severe management issues within the Abernathy family, allowing such a malicious person to infiltrate, causing you trouble,” Frederic said to Emeric with a serious tone. “We’ve indeed been negligent in our management. I sincerely apologize to you.” Emeric smiled but didn’t commit to anything. Frederic looked annoyed, feeling that Emeric was deliberately making him uncomfortable. However, Thaddeus wouldn’t accept such a vague explanation. His eyes were cold as he said, “This is clearly.” “Since Mr. Frederic has apologized to us and the one who drugged the drink has been dealt with, let’s put tonight’s incident behind us,” Evadne interrupted. “Dad, Cas sius and I are fine. The Ashbourne family and the Abernathy family are both prestigious. It would be embarra**ing for all if this incident blew up. Let’s be forgiving.”

Thaddeus looked at Evadne with surprise. Something was off. Ilana might have swallowed her pride before, but the current Evadne wouldn’t let things go so easily! He still remembered the fierce look in her eyes when Cas sius was in trouble like an enraged beast wishing to tear apart the mastermind. There’s no way she would let things go just like that! Or perhaps she was planning a more devastating counterattack? When Jareth heard Ilana call Emeric “Dad”, he was startled, and his mind went blank. How did he miss the fact that Ilana now had a powerful father? This made it even harder for him to catch up with her! “Considering Evadne’s wishes, Mr. Frederic, I’ll accept your apology,” Emeric said coldly, clearly reluctant to do so. Glynnis let out a sigh of relief, leaning weakly into Elspeth’s arms. Seizing the opportunity, Elspeth quietly led Glynnis away. The birthday party, which was supposed to be dazzling, ended awkwardly because of the family scandal. After such a disgraceful incident, Hamiltion didn’t feel like celebrating his birthday anymore, and Emeric and Evadne couldn’t possibly stay any longer. When the Abernathy family saw Evadne and Emeric off, Thaddeus silently walked beside Evadne, wanting to say something but hesitating. Emeric kept shooting glances at Thaddeus. If his eyes could shoot bullets, Thaddeus would have been dead already. This young man had actually married his precious Evadne! How unlucky! “Chairman Emeric!” Acacia, with an innocent look on her face, caught up with them. “About tonight’s incident, I’m truly sorry, I misunderstood. I had no idea Ms. Ilana was your daughter. I misunderstood her relationship with Mr. Cas sius…” 1/2 Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.

16:47 Emeric, full of anger, didn’t even pause his steps or look at her. “Ms. Acacia, are you implying that if Evadne weren’t my daughter, you could spread rumours and stir up trouble at will?” “.I didn’t mean that.” Acacia went white as a sheet, scared out of her wits. Thaddeus thought back to when Acacia had accused Evadne and Cas sius of having an affair in front of Chairman Emeric and Mr. Hamiltion. Her eyes were so cold and calculating like she was a stranger. His gaze was icy, and a wave of disappointment washed over him. “I’ve got advice for you, Ms. Acacia, don’t judge before you know the whole story. Words can cut like a knife, and the wounds run deep. How would you expect her to defend herself if it were any other girl? You’re just causing trouble, aren’t you?” Emeric shook his head and picked up the pace. Acacia watched resentfully as the crowd gradually faded into the distance. Even Thaddeus didn’t stop for her. She felt a chill run down her spine like she’d been doused in ice-cold water. Outside, four luxury cars were lined up. Jason, with a few bodyguards in tow, was waiting to usher them in, looking every bit the part of the big shot. “Ilana! Wait!” Hamiltion couldn’t help but tear up as he grabbed Evadne’s hand, “Ilana, why did you suddenly become the child of the Ashbourne family? Why didn’t you tell us? Why did you work as a nurse by my side?” Evadne sighed. “I married Thaddeus under a false identity because the Ashbourne family and the Abernathy family were once sworn enemies and couldn’t intermarry. Also, both families have always been business rivals. My identity was too sensitive. If I said I was from the Ashbourne family, I probably wouldn’t even be allowed to stay by your side.” Emeric and Frederic looked somewhat perplexed. Thaddeus was overwhelmed with a bitter taste in his mouth, his emotions in turmoil. “Silly child! You’re overthinking things!” Hamiltion, his heart aching, held her hand tightly, “What sworn enemies?! That’s all just some nonsense the old folks used to say! I never said that the Abernathy

family couldn’t marry into the Ashbourne family! If you’re good-hearted and you two are in love, why shouldn’t you be together? I fully support you and Thaddeus!” Evadne chuckled, finding the older man endearing. “Mr. Hamiltion, I’m not a good person. I’ve been lying to you for so long. Also, Thaddeus and I were not in love. So, we can’t be together.” Thaddeus choked up, his eyes filled with a profound sense of loss. “Mr. Hamiltion, your birthday has pa**ed. Thaddeus and I must fulfill our agreement and finalize the divorce proceedings.” When Evadne said these words, it felt like a stab to the heart, a raw pain surging up. Her eyes filled with tears as she hugged Hamiltion tightly. “Even though I won’t be llana anymore, you’ll always be my beloved Mr. Hamiltion. I’ll always love you. You must stay healthy and live a long life.” Hamiltion hugged Evadne tightly, his tears falling freely. Seeing Evadne about to get in the car, Thaddeus couldn’t hold back any longer. He rushed up, wanting to stop her. But she was no longer someone he could just casually approach. He wanted to reach for her hand but hesitated and withdrew. “Can you answer one question for me?” he asked. Evadne stopped and turned around, her expression cold. “Did you marry me under a false identity only because of the relationship between our families?” Thaddeus’s lips quivered slightly, his gaze intense as if he was seeing her for the last time. “Uh-huh.” Evadne sounded exhausted, giving a brief reply that seemed dismissive. “Why did you marry me?” Thaddeus asked, his eyes welling up with tears, “You’re the jewel of the Ashbourne family. You’re not short of money. When Mr. Hamiltion arranged for you to marry me, you knew it was a contract marriage, and you knew there was no future, so why did you still marry me?!”
