Chapter 83
Chapter 83
Chapter 83 After the guests had cleared out, Camille brought Evadne to her studio. The two of them were as thick as thieves. In their private space, they cracked jokes and laughed, creating a joyful atmosphere. Camille served Evadne some coffee and even brought out desserts from top local pastry chefs. These were treats that her guests never got a chance to taste. “Try this coffee.” “This is Colombian coffee. It’s smooth and full-bodied, with a refreshing and nutty flavor. It’s excellent.” Evadne sipped the coffee with a smile. Evadne’s demeanor was all grace and elegance, a testament to her refined upbringing-something not easily imitated. “I’m glad you like it.” Camille beamed. Normally aloof, Camille was like a carefree little girl in Evadne’s presence. Their acquaintance could be traced back to six years ago. Back then, Camille was a promising fashion designer with endless inspiration. But her early success made her a target of envy and criticism. Out of desperation, she joined a reality show where she was humiliated by a big-name actress and harshly criticized by the judges. Then, the globally renowned fashion genius Haron defended her online, criticizing those who attacked her and exposing their narrow-mindedness. Haron’s defense led other wronged designers to speak out against the industry’s unfairness. Their actions brought attention to Camille, the budding talent. Haron gave Camille a new hope. What happened next was like a movie. Those who attacked her publicly apologized under public pressure. But their apologies fell on deaf ears, and their reputations plummeted. The actress was lambasted online, and her dark secrets were exposed, leaving her dishonored. “Master, you’re Haron, the genius designer. Why don’t you reveal your true identity?” Camille poured Evadne more coffee, curiosity sparkling in her eyes. Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
“You’ve asked me this many times.” Evadne ma**aged her temples lightly. “I prefer working behind the scenes. I don’t like the spotlight. I don’t want to disturb my peaceful life.” “What a waste. If you revealed you’re Haron, Ms. Acacia would be scared out of her wits. She wouldn’t dare to attack you.” Camille fumed. “Just because she’s Thaddeus’ fiancée, she thinks she can mock you. She’s so arrogant and cocky! Who does she think she is?”
Evadne sipped her coffee leisurely, a cheerful gleam in her eyes. “She’s not worth knowing Haron.” “But Master, how did you end up clashing with such a person? Do you have any disputes with her? Do you need me to teach her a lesson?” Evadne paused slightly, then chuckled. “Never mind, she’s the future Mrs. Abernathy.” “So what? I’m your apprentice, and whoever offends you, I’ll deal with them!” Camille declared. Evadne felt a pang of guilt. Camille, though very close to her, didn’t know that she was the daughter of Skyrim’s wealthiest businessman, Emeric, let alone that she was the ex-wife of Thaddeus, the CEO of the Abernathy group. Sometimes, Evadne felt like she had multiple personalities. She had many identities, each with their own social circles and lives, none overlapping with each other. It was an odd feeling. “Master, do you still remember your promise?” Camille held up a heart-shaped pastry, her eyes full of anticipation. “Of course, I always keep my word. But have you found me a dance partner yet? If he can’t dance or isn’t handsome, I’m not interested,” Evadne asked nonchalantly. “He’s all ready! Tall, muscular, sexy, and charming! You’ll be satisfied, I guarantee!” The small interlude didn’t affect the party. Thaddeus stood emotionless, and his suit was outlining his appealing physique. His good looks drew everyone’s eyes, especially the women’s. Acacia glared at each lingering gaze, protective like a wolf guarding her food. If it weren’t for ordering
her wedding dress from Camille, she’d never have brought her boyfriend to such an event. That was like exposing him to all these women, a dangerously risky move! Thaddeus ignored everyone, his deep eyes searching the room. Who he was looking for was obvious. “Ah! It’s Camille!” Acacia noticed the previously missing Camille reappear and quickly tugged Thaddeus’ sleeve. “Thaddeus, let’s go talk to her. You’re the CEO of the Abernathy group, your status is high. If you press her, she’ll definitely agree to design my wedding dress!” Thaddeus frowned, pulled along by Acacia. “Ms. Camille, we’re actually here hoping you could design a wedding dress for me. Next month, Mr. Thaddeus and I are getting married. We’ll have a grand wedding, and even broadcast it nationwide.” Acacia leaned sweetly into Thaddeus, a smug smile on her face. “If your design appears on me, it’ll catch the attention of the whole country. What great publicity! As long as you design it, money is not an issue. Whatever your requirements, we can meet them. We’re very sincere!” “Money is not an issue? Ms. Acacia, you really are marrying a rich man. Quite generous.” Camille chuckled, raising a finger. “Ten million dollars, and I’ll consider it.” “What?! That’s way too expensive!” Acacia exclaimed in disbelief. “Oh, wasn’t money not a problem? So, ten million bucks is enough to scare the future Mrs. Abernathy?” “Ten million, I can handle it,” Thaddeus replied, deadpan. “Thad…” Acacia bit her lip, on the brink of tears. “Sure, you can, but I won’t,” Camille sneered. Thaddeus scowled, feeling duped. “My mentor doesn’t sweat the small stuff, she forgave you, but I won’t. Ms. Acacia, forget about your wedding dress and any future custom gowns from Rozabe. I won’t lift a finger.” With that, Camille turned on her heel and walked off, not even bothering to spare another word. 1/2 16:40 Chapter 83
Acacia was seething, her teeth grinding in anger. She despised this woman but kept up her victim act, “Thad… did Ms. Ilana say something to her? Why is she so hostile towards us? If she has a problem, she should take it up with me. Why drag innocent people into it?” Thaddeus replied uneasily. “After the banquet, I’ll talk to Ilana. I’ll ask her to convince Camille to design your wedding gown.” “Thad! You’re the best, I knew you loved me the most!” Just as Acacia was about to lean in for a kiss, the room suddenly erupted in cheers and applause. The lights in the hall dimmed, and a spotlight hit the stage. Modern, mysterious tango music started playing, and a handsome male dancer appeared. The next thing Thaddeus knew, he was taken aback! There she was, Ilana, looking stunning in a tight, se xy red dress, taking center stage. “Oh my go d! Is that the same woman from before? The transformation is unreal!” “She’s both beautiful and cool, wild yet tender! I’m totally smitten!” “Despite their closeness, their flawless dance moves exude no sexual tension, it’s all high-cla** artistry. Absolutely fantastic!” Thaddeus watched his ex-wife, enchanting and vibrant, on stage, with deep shock in his eyes. Since when did she learn to tango? Wasn’t she tone-deaf and clumsy? How could she dress so provocatively in public? How could she let that man touch her waist?! Just because they were divorced, could she now throw all decency out the window?! Thaddeus observed his woman, her slender waist and beautiful legs peeking out from under the red dress, his eyes ablaze with fury. Tango, after all, was a dance filled with ambiguity. Evadne’s expression was pa**ionate and provocative, her gaze filled with defiance, playing a game of cat and mouse with the male dancer. The music, reached one crescendo after another. Evadne twined herself around the man like a vine, her slim arms encircling his waist. Her captivating eyes, were fixed on Thaddeus in the crowd.
Thaddeus was triggered by her gaze, his feelings in turmoil, his face stern, and his throat involuntarily swallowing. He desperately wanted to rush onto the stage, shove the male dancer aside, strip off his jacket, and wrap her tightly in it! Even as her husband, he had never been so intimate with his wife. How could other men get such liberties?!
