Chapter 19: Plants
Chapter 19: Plants
"Um, Sir Kiro? Why are you here?" I was really surprised to see Sir Kiro sitting in the front seat of the car. Instead of looking at me, he turned to Kurt, the man who had brought me here. My drunkenness seemed to have disappeared. Sir Kiro raised an eyebrow at Kurt, then glanced at me before finally facing the steering wheel. "I think I should go now... Take care, Lyka," Kurt said briefly. I just nodded and thanked him quietly. Once he left and walked away, probably back into the bar, silence filled the car. No one said a word. I sneezed and tried to fix my disheveled hair, letting out a sigh. "Umm... Why are you here, Sir?" I managed to ask, my voice uncertain. "Am I not allowed to be here?" Sir Kiro responded seriously, his gaze fixed ahead. I sneezed again. "N-no, that's not what I meant, Sir," I replied, finding it difficult to deal with his seriousness. "I told you to drop the formalities. Do I look old to you, Lyka? I'm still young," he remarked, challenging my habit of always calling him ‘Sir’. It's true, I used to refer to him as a ‘demon’. I guess I've changed my perspective as I got to know him better. "You drink a lot, huh." I was sure he could smell the alcohol on me. Damn this strong smell. I remained silent, swallowing nervously in his presence. Leaning back, I just wanted to sleep. After waiting for a few hours, I heard Joday and Doday making noise. Finally, they were finished with their flirting! Joday was surprised to find Sir Kiro in the front seat. "Sir? Why are you here?" she asked. Kiro didn't answer her question; instead, he got out of the car. I even saw him talking to the driver. Joday quickly took the opportunity to sit in the front seat, but when I looked at her, she turned away, avoiding eye contact. "Arghh. My head is spinning so much, I feel like vomiting," Doday exclaimed, surprising me with her words. I couldn't believe her accent—it sounded like she was a professional English teacher or a British person. Even Joday turned around and burst out laughing. "The alcohol affects you differently, Doday! You
suddenly sound so posh with that accent! HAHAHA!" Joday laughed and playfully kicked Doday. The driver started to drive, and that's when I heard the snoring of the two. I guess they were quite tired from their make-out session. I couldn't sleep during the trip, wondering why Sir Kiro had been at the bar earlier. Why was he out of the mansion? Wasn't he forbidden to go to public places? Or maybe he had been given permission? I took a quick look at the side mirror and noticed Sir Kiro's car, which I recognized. It made me wonder why he was here. Was he picking up the maids? I couldn't help but think he's a good boss, looking out for us like that. But, for now, I decided to push those thoughts aside. My head was still spinning wildly. It felt heavy, as if a dense fog had settled in, making it hard to think clearly. Meeting Kurt earlier was a surprise, and my behavior towards him was totally unacceptable and unexpected, too. I couldn't help but blame it all on the alcohol. We made it home safely. Getting Joday and Doday into the maid's quarters will be a real challenge. They're completely passed out from all the alcohol they drank. Earlier, all I wanted to do was sleep, but now I find myself wide awake, unable to stop thinking about Sir Kiro showing up earlier. I quickly changed into my pajamas, but the alcohol was making me feel sweaty and uncomfortable inside the maid's quarters. So, I decided to step outside for some fresh air. "Oh, Lyka! Where are you going? Aren't you tired after going to the bar? You haven't even slept yet," Miss Linda asked me two different questions at once when she ran into me as I was leaving the maid's quarters. "Um... Yes, Miss Linda, I am tired. But I just need some fresh air before going to bed," I explained, letting her know that I was going to the garden. In Madam Gustavos' garden, a tranquil atmosphere fills the air, creating a haven of peace and serenity. Lush greenery surrounds every corner, with plants of all shapes and sizes thriving in their designated spaces. The garden is a symphony of vibrant colors, as flowers bloom in various shades, painting the landscape with nature's own palette. As expected, the night greeted me with cool, fresh air. bar and it was exhausting. So, I really needed the garden to ease and calm myself. I reallylove this particular part of the garden. It's where I'm assigned to do the cleaning. Since it's located at the back of the house, there's only a small decorative light illuminating the area. I went straight to visit my plant friends, the ones I watered every morning. I even gave them names. "Hey, Datdat, how are you doing? Are you comfortable in your pot? You plants always stand so tall. Aren't you tired?" I asked, as if expecting a response. Yes, you heard it right. I gave my plant the same name as my sister. I just miss her. And I named this particular plant Datdat because it's unique—a pink daisy among all the other colors in the garden. It was the only pretty pink. I let out a sigh as my headache and dizziness intensified. Drinking too much was really a bad idea. I tried to push aside the discomfort and focused on talking to the orchid I cared for the most. "Hey Dodong... Your sister had some alcohol tonight. I was just hanging out, but it affected me differently," I shared with the orchid I named Dodong, after my brother. It's pretty cute, don't you think? The names? Suddenly, I felt a twinge in my stomach. Oh no! These must be the effects of drinking too much alcohol! My stomach started to churn, and I felt like I might throw up, but I took a deep breath and pretended to be fine. I still wanted to talk to the plants. "Oh, by the way, one of your bosses went to the bar... Kiro was there earlier. I have no idea what he was doing—" I was interrupted by a voice from behind. The voice sent a shiver down my spine. "Who are you talking to over there?" Did he just hear me talking to my plants? How embarrassing!
