Howling Hearts

Chapter 53

"Lucian im pregnant and carrying the future alpha of this pack", I heard her say between the beats of my heart that was like a drum in my ear.

I looked over at Lucian and his face wasn't shocked. He placed his alpha mask on, making his emotions disappear into thin air. "Riley, me and you both know that child isn't mine", he said coldly.

"Oh Lucy, no need to hide from it anymore. I know you've planned the ceremony and we don't have to let it go to waste. I'll walk down the isle next and we can mark each other." My jaw dropped to the floor. Was she really this delusional? As I was looking around the room, trying to find the missing pieces to the story.

I realized no one was saying anything, the birds were no longer chirping and the whispers outside had died down.

I looked at them again and saw that time was frozen. Did I do this? "No my dear child, I did", the all too familiar voice said from behind me.

I looked down the hall and saw her beauty radiating from her. Her skin was normal this time round, her hair still long and lushes but this time put into a braid that fell just below her waist.

She was dressed in a lavender knee-length dress with pumps that matched. It had lace and appliques of the moon that I found quite beautiful and a strong hint of her rank within our society. I smiled, feeling relief.

I knew if anyone could fix this mess it would be the moon goddess. I don't know what came over me, but I ran over to her and hugged her so tight.

She was hesitant at first but soon wrapped her arms so tightly around me with a breath that escaped her mouth in the form of a relieved sigh.

"Thank you so much for coming to fix this" She pushed me away with a protesting look. "No, my dear child, I have come to show you how to fix it yourself."

I turned my head at her words trying to read if she was joking. She giggled a little before she led me towards Riley.

She placed her hand on Riley's cheek and a light glowed from her palm while her eyes took on a pale grey, removing any color that she had. After a few minutes, her eye color returned and the light from her palm no longer glowed.

I turned my head to the side again with a questioning look. She took my hand and placed it on the other side of Riley's cheek. "Now concentrate"

"On what exactly?" She smiled warmly at me.This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

"Her mind, my dear child", She said in an enthusiastic way.

I closed my eyes trying to do what she asked of me.

"No my child, open your eyes like you are trying to see for the first time. Closing your eyes closes your sight within her mind and yours."

When I opened my eyes expecting to see her, I saw that I was stuck within a white hall with a few gold doors, red doors and black doors.

"Good my child", I heard her voice echo through the halls. I turned around trying to see her but she wasn't there.

"The gold ones represent her favorite memories. Red means her intimate ones and black means her dreadful ones". I nodded my head and looked to the right where I saw a golden door.

"Choose a memory for now and open it".

I walked up to the golden door and placed my hand on the knob. I could feel her giggle and joy from the door knob.

I opened it and saw myself within the dress shop where I got my mate-ball dress. I saw myself enter into the shop looking around the massive elegant shop.

"Oh she's perfect for the dress", I heard Riley's thoughts. I watched her approach me and I could feel her emotions throughout the memory.

She liked me and she was happy when we exchanged our numbers. I also realized now that she was the owner and head designer of the shop.

"Now take my hand and show me the memory you chose". I felt her hand touch mine and walked through the memory again. I couldn't help but wonder where her feelings towards me had changed and what had caused it. "Well done my child, you can leave her mind now". I found myself within the white halls again, but saw a clear door that showcased the reality world.

When I opened it, I was again within my own mind and body. I blinked my eyes a bit to relieve the stress that had covered them.

When I stopped blinking, I saw a bright smile on the moon goddess's face.

"You truly are prodigious". She said in awe,

"Now my child. You can fix this problem while I wait for the ceremony to commence."

turned and walked away.

"Wait, who are you?"

"You already know Scarlet", She said, without stopping a step or turning her head to look at me.

"I mean who are you.... to me?"

She stood still for a moment not saying a word. She turned slowly on her heels and a sad look covered her face.

"I'll tell you after the ceremony", she said before she turned again and walked out of the pack house.

Just then, I heard the arguments continue, as well as the whispers from outside and the chirps of the birds. "Scarlet", the elder asked, since I wasn't facing them anymore.

I turned to face them and everyone was quiet. "What do you want to do?" The elder asked me. I looked at all of them and walked up to Riley again. When I tried to place my palm on her face, she slapped my hand away. "Have you lost your mind?" She said with fear in her tone.

"No Riley, I'm going to find the truth in yours."
