Chapter 33.
“Thank you very much. It was not that i was scared actually, but i was so carried away so much that i did not know what came over me, ” marco said, scratching his head with the right hand.
“Just take it easy, Just know that if things are not that great today, tomorrow will be better” the postmaster said with a smile.
He handed him three envelopes and discovered that one had his name and address written boldly on it, he knew that the letter came from no other place but the company he had written an application letter to two weeks earlier.
His instinct told him to drop the other two letter in the letter box first before he settled down to read the content of his. And behold, the contents of the letter brought back life and vigour into his body, forcing his countenance to change instantly.
Initially, he did not want to tell Diana the good news and why he was suddenly excited but because he knew that he would have to give Fred the news, there was no way Fred would not disclose it to her, if that happened, it would look like they were playing games with him. So, in order not to present himself like a crook, he decided to break the news to her.
“I want to know what is making you happy, you walked out of this house few minutes ago pissed off, simply because i want to have you and here you are smiling as if you have won a jackpot,” carolyn said broodily.
“It is almost like a jackpot, i have just received a letter asking me to report for an interview, that Is what excites me. And it is the only thing that can make a young and promising man like me happy, not a whole like you” marck snorted.
” What! You-you call me a whole? Anyways, I am wiling to forgive you if you offer an apology “.
” I will not, I repeat I will not, and mind you, I don’t have any regret calling you a whole because that’s what you are.”
“I don’t blame you, it’s because of my heart, it’s only my heart I blame for having feelings for you,” Carolynsaid with a feeling of indignation.
She walked out of marco into the room and spent about ten minutes there, Marco sat back going through the letter once more to relieve his anger.
When Carolyn reemerged from the room she had changed from the long skirt she had on previously, she was now dressed in a micro-mini skirt and a body hug that revealed her curves.
As she walked majestically into the parlour, she whistled to attract Marco’s attention, but he ignored her completely.
To marco, the while saga seemed to be an indistinguishable stupid obsession of a woman who was worse than Jezebel, this made her name sound like a symbol of feminine wickedness whenever he heard it.
Carolyn sat cross-legged directly opposite marco and pretended to be reading a magazine but she glared at him intermittently, Marco’s eyes neither twitched nor blinked.
Even when he became increasing bored from the constant reading of the letter, he could still not drop it because it was the only thing that prevented him from looking at her direction.
At a point, when Carolyn felt that her antics were being frustrated she go up and walked up to him, she stood in front him for a while and bafter a while she went to sit beside him putting her right leg on his lap.
“Stop it! Stop this Nonsense! What is the meaning of all these for goodness sake?” Marco shouted as he stood up, feeling highly irritated.
Carolyn got up as well and moved closer to him, using her two hand to caress his chest slowly in a seductive way.
“Get away from me now and don’t you ever try this kind of nonsense with me again” marco pushed her away violently and she fell on the floor.
” How could you?…” he continued, “my friend’s wife of all people, listen Carolyn If you promise to behave yourself henceforth, then i would pretend as if this never happened”
“Marco so you have the audacity to push me to the floor? All right, we shall see, you think you are an angel. Not to worry, you are soon going to become a devil, iam going to teach you the lesson of your life, let me tell you, nobody antagonizes me and goes scot free, and you shall not be the first” Carolyn said angrily.
Marco stared at her for a while and wanted to counter her statement but he was so dispirited that the words stuck in his mouth, he took the letter, pushed it into his pocket and went out, banging the door after him.
He was undecided where to go, he contemplated sitting outside till late in the evening when his friend would return from work, Marco waved that idea aside, because if he did that, passer-by might want to know why he was sitting there alone, and that would worsen his state of mind and mood, he wanted to be left completely alone so that he could sort things out in his mind.
After a careful thought, he decided take on a stroll and to return when it would be very dark knowing fully well that by the time he returned, Fred would have been back from work, and by then he would only need to go to bed and prepare for the next battle.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
