Chapter 509 The Ancient Times
Chapter 509 The Ancient Times
After Rhiannon handed over a storage ring to Jonathan, Jonathan promptly placed the Polychromatic Mirror and God's Eye inside it.
God's eye didn't have to breathe. Despite its physical form, it was not truly human. That body couldn't be referred to as flesh and blood as it was just a body.
The Polychromatic Mirror could still function even when stored in a ring. This made Jonathan feel much more at ease.
To repay her, Jonathan asked, "Rhiannon, you can't actually breathe inside your ring, can you?"
Rhiannon said, "Exactly. If we want to breathe, we'd have to construct an air-purifier magic formation. It's incredibly difficult. There are hardly a few people in Pollerton who are capable of doing this."
Jonathan said, "I can do that. As long as you have a good gem, I can make one for you."
"Really?" Rhiannon's eyes were filled with surprise and delight.
Jonathan gave a slight smile and said, "Of course it's true." As he spoke, he stood up and added, "I feel that this place is no longer safe. Let's change our location."
Rhiannon said, "Sure!"
Subsequently, the two of them stowed all their equipment into their storage rings.
In Moranta, possessing a high cultivation level still offered numerous advantages and conveniences.
Take, for instance, the possession of a storage ring – it essentially allowed one to carry a whole house wherever they went. Furthermore, one could effortlessly soar to their desired destination without worrying about tolls or refueling, promoting eco-friendliness and a pollution-free environment.
Of course, this was merely Jonathan's wishful thinking. In Moranta, how many people could reach the level of cultivation he and Rhiannon had achieved?
In Moranta, especially within Paradiso, the emergence of a Magician was equivalent to the level of a university student from Yaleview University.
And even among Magicians, how many of them could possess such abundant mental strength?
Many people would consider it quite an achievement to fly a certain distance. After such a flight, one's mental energy would drain away like flowing water.
All in all, in Moranta, those who could fly as freely as Jonathan and Rhiannon were considered billionaires in the main world, with a net worth of at least ten billion.
After packing up, Jonathan and Rhiannon were full of energy as they had rested for a night.
"How about we have a little race to see who's faster?" Jonathan suddenly proposed to Rhiannon with a smile.
Rhiannon said calmly, "Don't get too carried away with joy. If we end up too far apart and the Polychromatic Mirror can't cover us, you won't be laughing when Narma and the rest find us."
Upon reflection, Jonathan agreed with her and thus dismissed the idea.
Soon after, the two of them soared out of the forest, freely roaming in the blue sky.
"Rhiannon, you're more familiar with Pollerton than I am." Jonathan started a conversation with Rhiannon while flying. He now found it quite natural to call her Rhiannon.
"Yes, so?" Rhiannon said.
Jonathan asked, "Narma has the Heavenly Compass, and Lynn has the Holy Scripture. What kind of magic item should I seek if I want to oppose them?"
"Within Moranta, the Holy Scripture and the Heavenly Compass stand as two unparalleled spiritual treasures. Particularly, Lynn's Original Holy Scripture can be deemed the very essence of Moranta, encapsulating its entirety. It holds countless treasures and possesses the astonishing ability to foresee both the past and the future. It's truly awe-inspiring! With the Holy Scripture by her side, she can never be defeated!"
Jonathan couldn't help but feel a chill run down his spine. He said with a bitter smile, "If she is invincible, doesn't that mean I'll forever be under her shadow?"
Rhiannon sighed slightly. "To be honest, your chances of defeating Lynn are really slim."
Jonathan then asked, "So, is there a magic item that can go against the Holy Scripture?"
Rhiannon hesitated. "Well..."
Jonathan remarked, "Within the cosmos, there exist both positive and negative energies, just as there are male and female aspects. Every entity's existence is intertwined with and exerts influence over another. Surely, there must exist a treasure capable of containing or countering the power of the Holy Scripture, right?"
Rhiannon replied hesitantly, "There might be, but I can't be sure."
Jonathan immediately became interested and said, "I'm just chatting with you casually. Go on, tell me about it."
Rhiannon said, "It is said that in ancient times, Roland possessed three magic items. In ancient times, Roland was invincible in the world because of these three magic items!"
"Roland from ancient times?" Jonathan had encountered the name Roland on multiple occasions. He was harboring a keen curiosity about this individual. However, he refrained from delving into the specifics at that moment and instead mentioned, "I am aware that there is a sword named after Roland, known as Roland's Sword, which is referenced in Lynn's Holy Scripture. It possesses considerable power. Are there any other magic items associated with him?"
Rhiannon disclosed, "Roland's Sword, the Flaming Divine Armor, and the Netherworld Map." She paused briefly before continuing, "You've already had a glimpse of Roland's Sword, so there's no need for further explanation on that. As for the Flaming Divine Armor, this armor absorbs the very essence of heaven and earth, harnessing nature's creation. Once worn, it grants the ability to glide through the skies and plunge into the depths of the sea, wrestling with dragons. Even an ordinary person donning it can take flight and traverse through the earth. Moreover, the Flaming Divine Armor, once worn, renders the wearer invulnerable to swords, spears, and resistant to magic items. It can even utilize the fire
clouds imbued within to condense a Fire Divine Pill for lethal combat, making it an incredibly potent weapon. Nevertheless, formidable as Roland's Sword and the Flaming Divine Armor may be, they pale when compared to the Netherworld Map. The Netherworld Map is the sole super divine weapon that can rival the Original Holy Scripture. Within this Netherworld Map resides a miniature realm, encompassing a vast river known as the Netherworld River!"
Jonathan's heart skipped a beat as he exclaimed, "The Netherworld River alone can rival the Holy Scripture?"
Rhiannon nodded. "That river is not just any river. The Netherworld Map was once buried deep underground but was later transported into the Netherworld Map by a powerful deity. The netherworld river water of the Netherworld River possesses a strong corrosive power, and there are many strange creatures living within it. Once you master the Netherworld Map, you become the master of the Netherworld River. If you can truly hold the Netherworld Map in your hands, you will understand the power of this magic item."
Jonathan asked, "Where exactly did the Flaming Divine Armor and the Netherworld Map end up? Could they also be stored in the Holy Scripture?"
"This is utterly implausible!" Rhiannon burst out, her voice incredulous. "The Holy Scripture could never house the Netherworld Map. Furthermore, if it were truly within Lynn's possession, it would have become widely known. The conflict between Lynn and the dragon clan was no minor encounter. During that confrontation, she refrained from employing these two magic items, a clear indication that they could not have been in Lynn's possession."
"There are so many people!" Jonathan exclaimed, "Even if I wanted to find these treasures, I'm afraid it's probably impossible."
Rhiannon agreed, "If they were so easy to find, someone would have discovered it long ago. In all likelihood, these two magic items are probably inside the Pollerton Tomb."
Jonathan gave a bitter smile. "But the Pollerton Tomb is also extremely hard to find."
Rhiannon concurred, "You're correct. Pollerton was once desolate as well, until a multitude of individuals flocked there in pursuit of the Pollerton Tomb. Despite the passage of numerous years, Pollerton has evolved into a distinct entity. Yet, the elusive Pollerton Tomb remains elusive." She paused briefly before continuing, "A Divine Master once devoted two decades to scouring the entirety of the Dead Sea with his spiritual senses. Yet, despite exploring every nook and cranny of the Dead Sea, the Pollerton Tomb eluded his grasp."
"Why has it turned out this way?" Jonathan couldn't help but wonder aloud, "Wasn't it said that the Pollerton Tomb is located within the Dead Sea? The name 'Dead Sea' itself is derived from the tomb."
Rhiannon said, "You should know, the Pollerton Tomb was once a battlefield of gods and demons. Those people are beyond our comprehension. If they set up formations, like the Polychromatic Mirror, or illusions like pocket dimensions, who could possibly find them?"
Upon reflection, Jonathan agreed. He said, "It seems like what I'm trying to find is akin to finding a needle in a haystack. Actually, it's probably even harder than that."
Rhiannon nodded. "There are so many people in Pollerton, and they've been searching for hundreds of years without success. This just goes to show how difficult it is."
As the two of them were chatting, they spotted another abandoned island ahead. The island was also
filled with numerous mountain peaks.
"Let's find a place to rest and grab a bite to eat. There are a few things I'd like to discuss with you," Jonathan said.
Rhiannon gave a curt nod. "Okay!"
After landing on the island, the two of them moved the wooden house and bed up into the trees. Afterward, Rhiannon prepared a simple breakfast for Jonathan.
By then, it was already ten in the morning, and the two of them had traveled over three hundred miles from the island they had left earlier.
The vastness of the Dead Sea is boundless, stretching as far as the eye can see. No wonder even a Divine Master needed twenty years to explore it with his spiritual sense. Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
After settling down, Jonathan said, "I believe we can't blindly search for the Pollerton. We should start from the ancient battlefield of the gods and demons."
Rhiannon replied, "Everyone has already considered all the solutions."
Jonathan sighed and said, "Never mind, I'm not holding out much hope. Can you tell me what was the landscape like here in Moranta during ancient times?"
A look of longing flashed in Rhiannon's beautiful eyes as she revealed, "The ancient times were the most glorious era of magical civilization. The three Sacred Sovereigns ruled Moranta. Many of our current divine weapons and magic items were passed down from that era. If it weren't for the Divine
War that happened later, our magical civilization wouldn't have declined to its current state."
"Is this what you call decline?" Jonathan commented, "I think it's already pretty good."
"You're not from Moranta, so you wouldn't understand our longing and reverence for the ancient times," said Rhiannon.
Jonathan asked, "And who are those dark magicians?"
"The dark magicians, as the name suggests, encompass those who delve into dark magic," Rhiannon explained. "All the elder figures of the demon clan, including the Dark Sovereign, aspired to dominion over Moranta. Subsequently, the Sacred Sovereigns rallied the gods to oppose them, triggering the Divine War! This conflict inflicted substantial devastation upon the entire realm of Moranta. Following this, all the Divine Masters, Sacred Sovereigns, and Dark Sovereigns mysteriously vanished. The precise nature of the battle that transpired that year remains shrouded in uncertainty. We can only fathom the enormity of that clash through the sporadic relics we chance upon," Rhiannon's voice trailed off.
