Chapter 1046: Can We Start Over?
Upon hearing Brandon's response, Olive's elegant brows slightly furrowed. She stared intently at
Brandon as if trying to decipher his thoughts.
Just as Brandon was about to say something, Olive's voice rang out again, "If I hadn't left Viteto back
then, would we be together now? Maybe even with a child who's three or five years old?"
Brandon gazed at Olive. "There are no 'what ifs.'"
His words cast a shadow over Olive's eyes. She continued to lock eyes with Brandon for a while before
speaking once more, her voice tinged with emotion, "Brandon, if I told you I still loved you, could we
start over?" NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.
Upon hearing Olive's words, Brandon rose to his feet. "Olive, the past is behind us. We can't go back.
I'm content with how things are now."
As he finished speaking, Brandon hesitated for a moment before adding in a softer tone, "I have
something to attend to. I should head back."
After uttering those words, Brandon began to walk away.
However, just as he had taken a couple of steps, Olive suddenly stood and closed the distance
between them, wrapping her arms tightly around Brandon from behind.
"Brandon, I still love you. Can we start anew? I promise I won't ever leave you again."
Olive's embrace was firm, and Brandon couldn't free himself from her grip.
Taking a deep breath, Brandon said in a hushed tone, "Olive, please let go."
Olive shook her head. "No, if I let go, you'll leave, and I'll never have a chance to see you again."
Brandon had grown up alongside Olive and understood her persistence well. Yet, why had she left him
back then, despite being such a determined person? That was something Brandon still hadn't figured
out.
But at this moment, he no longer cared about the reasons behind Olive's departure. He had Sandy in
his heart now, and she was enough for him.
"Olive, I have someone I love now, and we even have a child together. We're getting married soon,"
Brandon spoke deliberately, each word clear.
However, Olive's grip tightened even more. "Brandon, that's not true. You only think she resembles me
in some ways. You're substituting her for me. The person you truly love is still me."
Olive's words caused Brandon's brows to furrow, and he finally pried her hands from his body, speaking
in a low voice, "I've made it clear. You are you, and she is she. She's not a replacement for anyone."
"No, Brandon, you've always loved me deep down," Olive exclaimed with a hint of excitement. "You
love me, you truly love me."
Confronted with Olive's emotional outburst, Brandon tightened his brows. He chose not to voice what
he had been thinking and, once again, distanced himself from her, saying, "I should head back now."
Just as Brandon began walking toward the door, Olive suddenly laughed and produced a fruit knife
seemingly out of thin air. "Brandon, you don't love me anymore, do you?"
Upon hearing Olive's words, Brandon turned to face her.
As Brandon looked over, he spotted the fruit knife in Olive's hand. Due to the light, it glistened and
dazzled his eyes.
Brandon's heart clenched, and he stared at Olive. "Olive, what are you doing?"
"Brandon, tell me, do you love me?" Olive's eyes were teary as she looked at him, her voice pleading.
"Tell me, do you love me or not? Are you just using Sandy as a replacement for me?"
Brandon continued to gaze at Olive, a moment of silence passing between them.
After a prolonged silence, Brandon finally spoke, his words gentle but firm, "Olive, I haven't treated her
as a replacement for you, and I haven't been unable to move on. I care for Sandy, love her, and it's not
about anyone else."
Though Brandon's words were meant to reassure, they stirred something within Olive, causing her grip
on the fruit knife to tighten even more. "Brandon, you don't love me anymore, do you?"
Brandon took a step forward, extending his hand toward Olive. "Give me the knife."
However, Olive stepped back, creating more distance between them. "Answer my question first."
Even for the sake of calming Olive, Brandon couldn't bring himself to speak insincerely.
So, before Brandon could respond, Olive, her voice trembling, pressed the fruit knife against her chest.
"Don't you love me at all?"
Brandon maintained his silence. "Olive, please calm down. Give me the knife."
"No!" Olive's rejection resounded loudly. Her voice had risen, and it caught the attention of Mr.
Longman and Mrs. Longman downstairs.
Both rushed upstairs, horrified to find Olive holding a knife.
"What are you doing, Olive? Put the knife down!" Mrs. Longman's face was etched with concern as she
tried to placate Olive.
However, Olive's attention remained fixed on Brandon, completely disregarding Mr. Longman and Mrs.
Longman's presence.
Brandon also kept his eyes on Olive.
In his memories, Olive had always been a person who understood propriety. Yet, at this moment,
Brandon found himself struggling to comprehend her actions. Perhaps it was due to how much they
had both changed since their separation.
Finally, Brandon spoke up, his voice gentle and calming, "Olive, put the knife down. Let's talk things
through."
"I have only one question," Olive interjected before Brandon could finish. "Do you no longer love me at
all?"
Brandon found himself unable to respond to Olive's question truthfully. He couldn't utter words that
contradicted his true feelings, nor could he deceive her. Such lies would only harm all three of them.
So, even as Olive looked at him with anticipation, he refrained from saying anything that went against
his heart.
As seconds turned into minutes, Olive's patience wore thin. Her gaze at Brandon burned fervently,
passionately, causing Brandon to momentarily drift back to the time when they had first started their
relationship.
Yet, in the intervening years, Brandon had experienced his share of trials and tribulations.
Consequently, he quickly snapped out of his reverie, back to the present.
And it was in this moment that Olive, with a forceful thrust, drove the fruit knife into her own heart.
"Olive!"
The exclamation escaped Mrs. Longman's lips, her voice filled with shock.
Mr. Longman's response was similarly frantic. "Olive!"
As Mr. Longman and Mrs. Longman took a step forward, Olive's stern voice halted them in their tracks.
"Stay back!" she ordered, her tone forceful.
Both Mr. Longman and Mrs. Longman came to an abrupt halt due to Olive's words.
With Mr. Longman and Mrs. Longman staying put, Olive's attention shifted back to Brandon.
"Brandon, do you truly no longer love me?" Olive's voice carried a hint of a sob.
In this moment, Brandon couldn't risk speaking without caution. His tone softened, and he gently tried
to soothe her. "Olive, please don't move, okay?"
"Answer my question!" Olive, however, seemed to have lost control, shouting at Brandon.
Brandon's step forward froze in its tracks, and after a moment's hesitation, he cautiously took another
step forward.
But Olive, overcome with emotion, retreated several steps until she reached the window, leaving
Brandon standing there, not daring to approach any further.
