Chapter 37
Chapter 37
Lilith's hands clenched tight. However, on the surface, she still wore a seemingly obedient look. "I understand, Mr. Mason."
Mason got up and left.
Lilith's parents appeared outside the door, wanting to initiate conversation when they saw Mason. However, Mason had already entered the elevator before their mouths could open. Ava gave them a stern look and followed him in.
Only Mason and Ava were in the elevator, and the red numbers on the screen continued to descend.
Suddenly, Mason asked, "Why was Lilith sent to Samphia Hospital? I remember Zoe's father is being treated in this hospital."
Ava's heart skipped a beat.
Immediately, she explained, "Mr. Mason, this really wasn't my idea. When I arrived at the airport, the ambulance had already taken Lilith to this hospital. Mr. Mason, will you come to visit Lilith after her surgery tomorrow?"
As the elevator doors opened, Mason walked out, saying, "I'm not her doctor."
Ava followed him.
Mason got into his car, a black Bentley, and rolled down the window. He turned slightly to Ava and said, "Arrange a dinner with Aurora when she arrives in Brookesville."
Ava knew he intended to introduce Lilith. She could not help but add, "Mr. Mason, I heard that Aurora has a student she admires... I'm afraid this might not work out."
Mason, still engrossed in his phone, seemed indifferent. "Who has caught Aurora's attention?" he asked nonchalantly.
Ava forced a smile. "I don't know the specifics but Aurora has publicly expressed appreciation for a violinist. She even mentioned wanting to cultivate her."
Mason looked up at Ava. After a moment, he spoke calmly, "Then let's test Aurora's integrity."
At 7:30 AM, Mason returned to Lockwood Manor. The opulent dining room was filled with the aroma of breakfast.
Lisa, dressed in an elegant outfit, sat at the dining table directing the servants. Her gaze swept over her son, who was about to go upstairs, and she called him with a bland tone, "She's already gone."
Mason paused his steps. Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.
He turned and walked to the dining table, taking a seat. A servant attentively set the table for him.
Seeing that her son did not intend to say anything, Lisa spoke, unable to contain her anger.
"I heard you went out to deal with Lilith last night. Mason, I usually don't want to meddle in your private affairs, but now there are rumors that you and Zoe are getting a divorce."
She paused and continued, "No matter how bad Zoe is, she's still way better than Lilith."
Mason took a sip of black coffee and said to the servant, "Next time, remember not to add cream."
The servant hastily agreed. Mason then looked at his mother calmly. "I'm not planning to get a divorce. Besides, I have no such ulterior motives with Lilith."
"But she does with you!" Whenever Lilith was brought up, Lisa showed disgust on her face. "She's trying to shoot for the stars."
Mason remained silent.
Lisa also did not want to strain her relationship with her son too much.
She picked up an invitation card and lightly pushed it toward Mason on the table.
"On Thursday, Mrs. Rosemary is hosting a banquet. Regardless of the situation, you have to bring Zoe and show some affection to discourage the divorce rumors."
Mason took a look.
It was indeed an invitation from Rosemary Abbott, the wife of the Abbott Group's chairman.
Mason was currently bidding for a project with a fifty percent chance of success. At this crucial juncture, this banquet became particularly important.
Without much thought, Mason said, "I'll take Ava. There's a project I need her for."
Besides, Mason did not want Zoe to be involved in business.
Lisa disapproved. "Ava might be competent, but she's just a secretary. It's not suitable for a man to bring a secretary to a banquet."
However, Mason had already made up his mind. He was determined to win that project.
