Independence 303
Chapter 0303
Sam suggested, “Maybe things like… You’re so handsome, I’m head over heels for you, let’s give dating a try, or be my boyfriend…”
Miranda laughed. “All your suggestions are more conceited than the last.”
“My best quality is that I dare to dream, and I put it to action.”
Miranda quipped, “Then, you’d better just stick to dreaming.”
Sam seemed to gloss over her subtle rejection and smiled. “I’ll think about it first. Then, I’ll go for it.”
“Well, you might not succeed.” Miranda tried to dampen his enthusiasm.
“That’s alright. I won’t have any regrets as long as I try. Who knows, maybe I’ll succeed?”
Miranda didn’t respond to that.
Sam escorted her to the stairs. “Go on in.”
“Thank you.”
“Feel free to call me if anything comes up. No matter what time it is, I’ll be the first to turn up.”
“Alright.”
“See? You’re brushing me off again. I bet you’re thinking of just agreeing for now, but you still wouldn’t call me if anything happens,” Sam said.
Miranda’s lips twitched.
“I get that you’re an independent woman, and you’re used to living alone. However, I hope you’ll think ofNôvelDrama.Org © content.
me if you ever need help. I don’t have to be the first person you think of, but at least remember that I’m an option, okay?”
Miranda chuckled. “Alright.”
“Go on up, then.”
Sam watched as she went up the stairs. He only turned to leave when the light in her room lit up.
Meanwhile, Ingrid had been resting in the mansion for almost two weeks. Her pregnancy was quite stabilized now.
She had people waiting on her hand and foot. Since Hansel didn’t return home, no one was around to berate or humiliate her. As a result, Ingrid was living a comfortable life.
After getting through her morning sickness, Ingrid gained five pounds. Moreover, her complexion was glowing with health.
In contrast, Evelyn was worked to the bone. On top of that, she had to endure Ingrid’s constant antics and mischief.
Although Evelyn hadn’t lost weight, her exhaustion was evident by her haggard appearance. She
experienced severe hair loss and couldn’t sleep well at night.
The reason was none other than Ingrid. Whenever she fancied eating something or doing anything, she would call Evelyn to wait on her regardless of whether Evelyn was asleep or not.
She could tolerate it a few times, but after repeated occurrences, Evelyn developed insomnia and anxiety. Even when Ingrid didn’t summon her, Evelyn would be startled by her dreams and wake up. After that, she was unable to fall back asleep for the rest of the night.
In contrast, Ingrid ate well and slept soundly. She went out and shopped without restraint, swiping her card whenever she liked.
Evelyn felt so irritated that she left Ingrid behind in the mall and returned to the mansion on her own.
When Ingrid finally emerged, Evelyn was nowhere to be found. Upon her return, she saw Evelyn lying comfortably on the couch and eating some watermelon.
Ingrid sneered, “You left me alone at the mall to come back here and enjoy yourself? What a caring grandmother you are! What if something had happened to me outside? It’s fine if you ignore me, but are you going to neglect your grandchild too?”
Evelyn felt speechless at the accusation as she barely had any time to relax. “There are so many security guards at the mall, and you have Martha with you. What could possibly happen?
“I think you’re just being paranoid! I’m only looking out for my grandchild, not you. You must be dreaming if you think I’m going to follow you around 24 hours a day. Who do you think you are?”
After saying that, Evelyn scoffed and rolled her eyes. She couldn’t be bothered to say anything more. Ingrid’s eyes burned with anger, and she clenched her jaw tightly.
Suddenly, an idea came to her. Ingrid quickly composed herself and instructed Sarah to wash a bowl of cherries for her.
Then, she strolled toward the backyard to sunbathe in the gazebo. “Oh, I almost forgot. Martha, bring me my sunscreen.”
Just then, the doorbell rang.
