Chapter 29
Wilbur frowned. He was indeed wearing casual clothes and did not exactly blend in well with others. However, that guy was being rude with his words.
Wilbur glanced at Faye, expecting her to provide an explanation, but Faye was in the middle of a conversation with a man and a woman, and the three were heading upstairs. It was clear that they were going to talk about things.
Wilbur said to the man, “I’m Miss Yves‘ driver.”
“I don’t care whose driver you are. We have no place for people dressed like this in here! Get out right now, “the man said unceremoniously.
Wilbur’s expression darkened. “And who are you?”
The man responded haughtily, “Me? Remember this. My name’s Mike Cannon, and I own this place. Only upper–class guests are welcome here. Drivers should go where drivers belong.”
Just then, a muscular man in a suit around thirty years old walked in.
Behind him were two pretty women, also wearing body–hugging suits and white gloves.
Wilbur could tell, however, that the two girls knew a thing or two about martial arts.
However, in Wilbur’s eyes, they were hardly a match for him. The guy had some skills too, but he was too green.
Mike walked up to the man at once, bowing to him respectfully. “Mister John, you’re here.”
still
The man called Mister John merely nodded and said, “Did you bring that precious thing you mentioned? Don’t let me down.”
“Don’t worry. Master Jose said that it was a priceless treasure for sure,” Mike said.
John nodded. He caught sight of Wilbur and frowned. “Why are you letting just anyone in here?”
“He’s someone’s driver. He was trying to freeload off the food here. I’ll chase him out right now,‘ Mike said.
John scoffed and walked past Wilbur.
Wilbur found it funny. He had just met with lan the day before, and now he got to meet this Mister John right after. Things were getting interesting.
Just then, a man in his fifties clad in traditional wear came in carrying a box.
Mike noticed it and said to Wilbur at once, “Get out of here right now, or I’ll have to kick you out even if it embarrasses your boss.”
With that, he rushed up to the elder man and greeted, “You’re here, Master Jose! Everyone’s been waiting for you.”
“I’m sorry for making you wait,” Master Jose said with a smile on his face.
Mike led Master Jose to the main dining table in the hall. Mister John and two other people were also seated at that table. They were obviously people of power.
Wilbur shook his head. He got himself a plate of food before sitting down in a corner to eat.
The food there was pretty d’mn good. All of them were top–quality ingredients, which definitely suited the type of people there.
In the hall, everyone scrambled toward the main table to greet Mister John and Master Jose. The pair were clearly the center of attention in the room.
After greetings had been done, Mister John said, “Master Jose, please show them your treasure. Everyone’s long been looking forward to it.”
“Alright. There’s no point in hiding this any further, not when the Owens have asked to see it,” said Master Jose as he began opening the box.
Just then, a strange smile appeared on Wilbur’s face. First, it was lan Owens, and now it was John Owens. What a small world!
Just then, Master Jose opened the box to reveal an item.
It looked like an incense holder with mysterious ures carved on it. The item let out a faint blue glow, making for a curious sight.
Its appearance drew everyone to crowd over at once, marveling in shock and amazement after looking at it.
Master Jose appeared haughty as he uttered, “This is a treasure I came across while I practiced
cultivation deep in the mountains. It has a magical energy that is able to prolong one’s life and wellness if kept at home.”
“Wow! To think that magical items like that exist!” “Amazing! You sure are something. Master Jose.”Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
