Redmption 278
Redmption 278
"What are you thinking? I'm sure Keith likes you," I said with certainty.
Keith's gaze at Lisa was full of affection, but right now, she was unconfident.
I wouldn't blame her though. After all, she had a crush on Keith for so many years without ever confessing because
she thought he was too outstanding.
This showed her insecurity. Perhaps only Keith's direct response could heal her. As an outsider, there was no way I could make her understand this, so I didn't want to waste time convincing her.
"I'm heading back. Tonight, make sure you dress up nicely and get ready for your date. Also, make sure to switch your shifts ahead of time. No matter
I nagged her like I was her mom. She laughed, echoing my sentiment.
"Even my mom doesn't worry this much." That was because her mom didn't know about her crush.
"Good luck, Liz," I said, giving her a fist bump as encouragement. "I'm leaving now."
"Wait! Don't go yet. Come with me to the office," Lisa demanded, holding me back.
"Why? I need to get back and discuss Brandon's sister's matter,” I reminded her.
Lísa held onto me, saying, "This won't take long."
Not knowing what she was up to, I followed her into the office where she pulled out a tube of ointment from a drawer and handed it to me. "What's this?" I asked, examining it.
Before I could figure out what it was, Lisa had already started explaining how to use it. "When you get home, clean yourself down there and apply this.
I instantly realized what the ointment was for. Even though she was my best friend who had seen me naked in the bath, it still made me blush.
My mouth moved to protest, "I don't need this."
"Stop p
pretending. It's obvious," Lisa gave me a knowing, professional look.
I fidgeted with the tube in my hand. "Is it really that serious?"
*Absolutely! Especially for the first time. It's easy to get tears, bleeding, or even inflammation. If you're not careful, it could lead to
gynecological issues. In severe
cases, even damaging the uterus and affecting your fertility," Lisa said ina tone that sounded exactly like a doctor talking to a patient. Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
I cleared my throat awkwardly. "Doctors sure know how to scare people."
"I'm only looking out for you," Lisa replied and nodded at the examination table. "Go lie down. I'll give you a quick checkup."
My eyes widened and I took a step back. "Thanks, but no thanks."
I quickly made my escape, with Lisa calling after me, "Don't forget to use the ointment. If you feel uncomfortable, come see me."
1 didn't give her any response. Lisa's words keep echoing in my ears, making me flustered and distracted.
I wasn't paying attention to where I was going until I bumped into someone.
"I'm sorry..." I immediately apologized, but when I looked up, I froze.
Chris was holding onto me. He had grabbed me when bumped into him. Now, he was staring at my face and asked, "Are you not feeling well?" "No." I replied while trying to pull my arm out of his grasp.
But Chris didn't let go. Instead, he lifted his other hand and placed it on my forehead. My face had turned red, probably from the things Lisa had just said, but Chris assumed I was having a fever.
Whenever was down with a fever in the past, he would always check my forehead and compare it to his own. He was doing exactly the same thing now. Was it out of habit?
"I'm not running a fever," I said, taking a step back to avoid his hand.
Chris frowned slightly. "Then why are you..."
"I'm just feeling hot," I quickly replied and pulled my arm away from him.
His hand froze in midair for a moment before he lowered it. Then why are you here at the hospital?"
"I came to see Lisa!"
He responded with a simple, "Oh." Then, he continued to study my face before saying, "If you're not feeling well, see a doctor. Don't push yourself.'
That was another phrase I was all too familiar with. He used to say it every time I got sick.
