Love's Redemption

Redmption 324

Redmption 324

Ellie was adamant that Brandon should leave, but I was worried about leaving her alone.

I had no choice but to ask Lisa for help, even though she was on the night shift.

"Mrs. Howell, I'm here to work, fot to look after Ellie. You're asking me to do something outside

my job. Aren't you taking me for granted?" Lisa teased me deliberately.

“It's not about looking after her. It's just that if you have time, check on her to make sure she's sleeping well," I explained playfully.

Lisa huffed. "After all these years, I feel like my bond with you pales in comparison to how you treat Ellie."

"Don't be jealous. You're irreplaceable in my heart. Even Brandon can't compare," I said while giving her a thumbs-up.

"I'm not Brandon. You don't need to flatter me," she said as she examined the ring on my finger.

"It's an old model and an old piece. It's not worth much, but it's precious because Brandon gave it to you, unlike Chris," Lisa mentioned.

I was already indifferent to that part of my past and even joined in the jest, "Maybe I'm just not worth it in Chris' mind."

"It's not that you're unworthy," she said with a sigh. "It's more like you being around gave Chris the illusion that you couldn't leave him, so he didn't prioritize your feelings."

I gave a cynical smile. "It doesn't matter anymore. It's all in the past, and he's gone far away now."

"Where did he go?" Lisa asked, picking up on the conversation.

"I don't know. He seems to be missing deliberately," I said, recounting how Bree and Jewel were looking for Chris.

Lisa looked pensive and said, "I saw Chris coming often to the hospital recently. Could it be that he's in some trouble?"

Thinking back to when I was in a coma here after the car accident and saw Chris, I gave a mocking smile. "He's probably here with Jewel. After all, sh "That's possible. But each time I saw him, he seemed to be alone," Lisa said just as the office door opened.

"Come in!" She straightened up.

A man in a delivery uniform walked in. "Are you Dr. Carline?"

"Yes!"

"This is your delivery, and here are the flowers," the delivery man said, holding out a bag and a bouquet.

I immediately sensed something was up and looked at her. Her expression remained calm as she replied, "Sorry, şir, but I didn't order any delivery." "Someone ordered it for you," the delivery man said while checking his phone. "It's from a person named My Heart Longs for Lisa.""

Upon hearing that, I couldn't help but smile and whisper, “Is it a suitor?"

"It's from a family member of a patient in labor."NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.

"A married man?" I asked in surprise.

"No. He's the patient's brother," Lisa explained.

"Dr. Carline, I need to move on to my next delivery. I've left the food and flowers here. If you don't want them, you can contact this gentleman," the delivery man said, leaving the items and walking away. Content belongs

I walked over to check the receipt on the food box and noticed a new detail. "There's a note."

"What does it say?" Lisa remained indifferent throughout, which hinted at her feelings.

"Liz, I know you're working hard tonight. Since I can't be with you, I hope my affection will accompany you through this long night. Your Missed Lover," I read aloud, trying to hold back a laugh.

After reading it, I looked at Lisa. "Your Missed Lover? How cheesy."

Knock! Knock!

The knock on the door made me turn, and I saw Keith standing there.

The door had been left ajar when the delivery man left, so I wasn't sure how long Keith had been there. However, he was clearly looking at the flowers and the food.

"Mr. Marrow," I greeted him.

He nodded and walked over to Lisa. "I've already discussed the surgery with the patient's family." "Thank you for your hard work, Keith," Lisa responded politely. She was stillin her rote role as a junior. "You should

know who I'm working hard for." His words suddenly changed the atmosphere.

I straightened up instinctively, and Lisa, surprised by his unexpected comment, stammered, "I've caused you trouble, Keith. I won't do it again. I won't-"
