Redmption 327

Redmption 327

Brandon rubbed his forehead against mine. “But I really miss you. I miss you so much…”

He took my hand and pressed it against his warm, intimate spot. All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.

I pulled my hand back sharply and quickly hid it behind me. Seeing my panic, he chuckled softly. “Don’t you want it?”

“I don’t. Not at all. I’m tired and just want to sleep.” I pushed him away and fumbled for the keys.

I couldn’t find the keys in my flustered state, so after a while, he retrieved them for me.

“You’re such a little scaredy–cat,” he whispered close to my ear.

I felt a flush spread over my body. It was as if his warmth was contagious.

Brandon unlocked the door, but just as I was about to go in, he pulled me back. “You really don’t want me to come in?”

“No, I don’t.” I couldn’t even look at him.

But before I could finish speaking, he had already pushed his way inside. I glared at him. “Brandon!”

“I won’t stay,” he said as he checked each room and inspected the windows before finally coming back to me. “I’ve checked. The doors and windows are secure, and there’s nothing unusual in the house.”

At that moment, my heart clenched, and I felt a strange sense of things settling into place.

“You’ve had a long day, rushing for flights and then going to the hospital. You must be exhausted. Take a shower and get a good night’s sleep,” he said, patting my head and pinching my cheek.

Seeing him like this, I suddenly didn’t want him to leave or to continue punishing him.

After all, his behavior in his hometown was partly to set an example for Ellie and partly to avoid making me feel awkward, especially since we weren’t married yet.

“Good night,” Brandon said before releasing me and turning to leave.

I held him back. I couldn’t find the right words to say at the moment, but he should understand what this gesture meant.

However, he just looked at me without moving and pretended to be puzzled.

He was definitely playing with me.

Brandon might be inexperienced in romance, but he was a master in practice.

I had no choice but to speak up, “I’ve changed my mind.”

“Hm?” he responded.

pinched him lightly. “I want you to stay.”

This time, he didn’t play along but let out a soft laugh. “So, you’ve decided you want me after all?”

I couldn’t admit it, so I played it cool. “No, I’m just scared.” To cover my embarrassment, I added, “You made me anxious with all that checking. Everything was fine before.”

“I’ve checked, and everything’s okay. You can sleep peacefully. Besides, I’m just across the hall. If there’s any danger, just shout.” Brandon really knew how to tease me.

I couldn’t compete with his teasing and gave up. “What if I just want you to stay?”

His smile grew even brighter. “You’re not angry anymore?”

“Brandon.” I was at my limit. “I’ll reall get mad if you keep messing with me.”

His fingers brushed my face gently. “Mae, don’t be angry.”

I thought he was agreeing to stay, but the next second, he said, “I’m just next door. Don’t be afraid or overthink things. Just get a good night’s sleep.”

I wasn’t naive. I understood that he still intended to leave. After all that heated interaction and desire in his eyes, why was he backing off now?

Even if he was teasing me, there should be a limit!

I let go of him, pretending to be annoyed. “Go on! Just go!”

I pushed him toward the door, but Brandon sensed my emotions and reached out to hold me. With a resigned sigh, he whispered in my ear, “What am I supposed to do with you?”

His words conveyed a deep weariness, and my heart ached. I hugged him back. “Brandon, go get a good night’s sleep, and don’t overthink things.”

I still pushed him away, wanting him to go and get some rest, because I knew that we wouldn’t be able to keep things calm if he stayed.
