Redmption 54

Bree and Zack paused noticeably at my words. They weren’t surprised but were clearly tense. This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.

“Maddie, we already know. It’s not your fault. It’s that rascal Chris‘ fault. I scolded him. I’ll make him come back and apologize to you…” Before I could say anything, Bree started blaming Chris

She was trying to prevent me from saying the words they didn’t want to hear.

Zack was more rational and interrupted her, “Let Maddie speak.”

Bree gripped my hand tighter, looking at me with eyes full of pleading. I lowered my gaze slightly, trying not to let myself be swayed. “Bree, Zack, I’ve broken up with Chris.”

The room fell into a deep silence. Bree held my hand even tighter.

“Why?” Zack’s voice was firm and strong. I knew I had to give them a reason. that would make it difficult for them to stop me. Otherwise, this would drag on endlessly,

So, instead of saying Chris and I weren’t suitable, I decided to tell the truth. Because of Jewel. His care for her has surpassed that for me, his fiancée.”

Bree pulled my hand closer to her. “What did he do with that woman again? Maddie, tell me. I’ll go deal with that woman. Why does she keep clinging to my

son?”

Zack’s face was extremely dark. “Maddie, we aren’t fully aware of his affairs. outside. Tell us, and we’ll stand up for you.”

Really unaware? They had heard about the rumors, yet they didn’t inquire or ask? From what I know about Zack, that was impossible.

Chris might be running Gildon Corporation now, but it was a company Zack had founded. Zack was still the chairman even if most of the authority had been passed on to Chris.

Chris still consulted Zack on many matters. Zack was the true master. He appeared to ignore everything, but he was actually in control because he understood everything.

Chris having a scandal with a window was widely talked about in the company. It was something Zack couldn’t be unaware of. Now, he was just pretending to be clueless, waiting for me to speak up.

Since that was the case, I decided to say it outright, “He gave Jewel his

secondary card to use. He let her move into the house meant for me and event bought the bed linen she likes. Most importantly, he’s been secretly

accompanying her for prenatal check–ups.”

The prenatal check–up part was what Lisa had told me. Chris was smart. He hadn’t set up Jewel’s prenatal check–up file in Lisa’s hospital but in a high–end private hospital in Hilcord.

However, he didn’t know that Lisa was a special consultant there. On the day that Chris and I were supposed to register for our marriage, he had lied about the auspicious time calculated by the fortune–teller to delay it as he needed to accompany Jewel for her check–up then.

Lisa had happened to be performing a surgery at the other hospital that day and she had seen everything. She didn’t tell me immediately because she thought that we’d already registered for our

marriage, and she didn’t want to upset me.

But after she heard that we hadn’t registered, she still didn’t say anything to avoid rubbing salt into my wounds.

It wasn’t until today that she had finally told me everything. When she knew. ne to give me one more that I was going to meet Chris‘ parents, she had told reason to condemn Chris.

“He did that? That bastard!” Zack exclaimed and slammed his palm on this

table in anger.

It was frightening. He was usually gentle and rarely got angry. Even though his anger wasn’t directed at me, it still startled me.
