Married At First Glance: I Am Not Ugly

The Ball In Your Court

He laid back and closed his eyes, hoping to get some sleep.

As he drifted off to sleep, he thought about what he should do. Should he continue with the fake marriage and keep his relationship with Jessie, or should he risk everything and pursue a relationship with Marissa?

He wasn’t sure what to do, but he knew that he had to make a decision soon. He couldn’t keep living in this limbo state.

He finally fell asleep, his mind still swirling with thoughts of Jessie and Marissa.

When Alexander woke up the next morning, he knew that he needed to talk to someone about what he was feeling. He decided to call his lawyer, Anderson

“Hey, what’s up?” Anderson said when he answered the phone.

“Hey, I need to talk to you about something,” Alexander said.

“Sure.” Anderson said.

“We got the contract.” He said.

“Oh! Congratulations Alex.”

“Thanks, but that’s not what I want to talk to you about,” Alexander said. “There’s something else that’s been on my mind.”

“Of course, what is it?” Anderson asked.

Alexander hesitated for a moment, gathering his thoughts. “It’s about Marissa,” he said. “We’ve gotten close over the last few weeks, and I’m starting to have feelings for her.”

“Really?” Anderson said, sounding surprised. “That’s definitely a development.

“I know it’s complicated,” Alexander said. “I have a girlfriend, and I don’t want to hurt her. But I can’t deny the connection I feel with Marissa.”

“It’s definitely a tricky situation,” Anderson said. “You need to be honest with yourself and with Jessie about what you’re feeling. It’s not fair to string either of them along.”

Alexander knew that Anderson was right, but he still felt conflicted. “I know, but it’s not easy,” he said.

“I understand that it’s not easy,” Anderson said. “But if you care about both of them, you need to be honest. It might be hard in the short term, but it’s the right thing to do in the long run.”

Alexander sighed, knowing that Anderson was right. “You’re right,” he said. “I need to figure out what to do.”

“And I’m here to help you figure it out,” Anderson said. “I’m always here to listen, and to give you honest advice.”

Alexander felt grateful for his friend’s support.

“You know I have always liked Marissa. I feel she compliments you more than Jessie but I know you are still in love with Jessie.

But you need to make a decision soon because Marissa is just a contract and Jessie is your actual girlfriend. So the ball is in your court Alex.” Anderson said.

Alexander sat in silence, trying to process everything Anderson had just said. He knew that his friend was right, and that he needed to make a decision soon.

“You’re right,” he said. “I need to figure this out, and I need to do it quickly.”

“That’s the spirit,” Anderson said. “And I’m here to help you in any way I can. But ultimately, this is your decision to make.”

Alexander took a deep breath, knowing that the next few days would be difficult.

“Dude I gotta go. Will talk to you later.” Alex said.

“Okay, take care of yourself,” Anderson said. “And remember, I’m here if you need me.”

“Thanks, man,” Alexander said, and then hung up the phone.

He sat on the couch, feeling a mix of emotions. He was grateful for Anderson’s support, but he was also overwhelmed by the decision he had to make.

He closed his eyes, trying to clear his mind and focus on what to do next.

Just then Marissa opened her room door still wearing her pajamas.

She smiled and greeted Alexander.

“Good morning.”

“Good morning,” Alexander said, returning her smile. “Sorry if I woke you.”

“No, don’t worry about it,” Marissa said. “I was already awake.”

There was an awkward pause, as the two of them stood there, not knowing what to say next.

“Um, I was just about to order some breakfast,” Alexander said, breaking the silence.

“Oh, that’s a good idea,” Marissa said. “I’m getting kind of hungry, too. What do you feel like having?”

“Well, I was thinking maybe some eggs and toast,” Alexander said. “But if you have any other ideas, I’m open to suggestions.”

“Eggs and toast sounds good,” Marissa said. “I was also thinking about getting a cup of coffee.

“The meeting is at 11:00 a. m.,” Alexander said. “But we should probably leave for the restaurant around 10:00 so we have plenty of time to get there.”

“That sounds like a good plan,” Marissa said. “And we can have breakfast first, so we’re not rushing.”

“Definitely,” Alexander said. “I don’t want to be stressed out when we get there.”

“Plus, I think it’ll be nice to have a chance to relax before the signing.” She said,

“You’re right.”

“Let me call so they would send our breakfast to our suite.” He said

Alexander picked up the phone and dialed the number for room service.

“Good morning,” he said when the person on the other end picked up. “I’d like to place an order for breakfast.”

After placing the order, he hung up the phone and turned back to Marissa.

“Okay, breakfast will be here in about 30 minutes,” he said.

“Great, that’ll give us a chance to get ready,” Marissa said. “I’m going to go take a quick shower and get dressed.”

“Sounds like a plan,” Alexander said. “I’ll get ready, too.”Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.

After Marissa went to take her shower, Alexander went into the bathroom to freshen up. As he was getting ready, he couldn’t help but think about how much had changed in the past few days.

A few weeks ago, he had been a man who was single but now he was fake married even though it all started with hate, he was beginning to feel that something special was growing between them but doesn’t quite understand what yet.

He didn’t know what the future held, but he was looking forward to finding out.
