subtitle: getting to know him
written by: marvy hyacinth
“Hey, ain’t you gonna go cook dinner?”
Anderson asked standing behind Alexa.
he had waited for Alexa’s tears to stop flowing before tracing her and going in search of her.
he eventually found her at the back of his house and watched her for some time before speaking to her.
“I’m not,”
Alexa replied and walked off, away from him.
he watched as she walked off on him for the second time today.
he felt hurt and wanted to make it up to her, but not knowing how… he walked into his house.
“hey, buddyy,”
Anderson called out immediately after he saw Jace jumping on the couch, then an idea crept into his mind.
Jace stopped jumping on the couch and turned to face him as Anderson took steps toward him. Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
“hi.”
he greeted back.
“I trust you’ve been enjoying your arrival here so far?”
Anderson asked.
“not really.”
“what?!”
Anderson screamed
“yes. why were you screaming?”
Jace asked him.
“I mean, my house has everything the house you used to live in doesn’t have.”
Anderson said pompously.
“So why would you say it’s fun?”
he added as a question.
“I don’t know…”
“what?! you don’t know?”
Anderson yelled once again and Jace shivered in fright.
Anderson calmed down a bit.
“Hey… are you feeling cold?”
he asked worriedly.
“Were you trying to kill me?”
Jace asked and watched as Anderson’s jaw dropped.
“omg, no! why would I do that?”
Anderson questioned, surprised as hell.
“because I keep getting the feeling that eventually, you’ll kill me or Alexa.”
Jace answered truthfully.
“oh, boy… I’d never hurt my family.”
Anderson cooed.
“but Alexa and I ain’t related to you.”
Jace pointed out.
“that’s what you think.”
“so we’re family now?”
“of course, Alexa’s my wife, and you… my brother-in-law.”
Anderson said as he ran his hand through Jace’s hair, ruffling it sibling-like.
“That reminds me. where’s my sister?”
Jace asked.
“honestly, I was gonna ask you that too,”
Anderson said glumly.
“my sister isn’t with you?”
Jace questioned and Anderson nodded in the affirmative.
“wasn’t she with you earlier?”
“the thing is Jace, I annoyed your sister a little and she ended up walking away.”
Anderson explained, making Jace form a big ‘o’.
“I ow what to do to make her less angry.”
Jace plastered a smile on his face and gave a small laugh.
“just make some good fruit salad and trust me, she’d lick you into forgiveness.”
Anderson smiled at him.
“Thanks, Thanks
“anytime.”
Jace grinned, making Anderson ruffle his hair cutely.
Anderson went into his kitchen and pulled open the fridge.
he took out some apples, half a watermelon, some grapes, cucumbers, mangoes, pawpaw, an avocado, then some lemons to give the salad a little bit sour taste.
“can I help with anything?”
came Jace’s voice.
Anderson fixed his eyes on him for some seconds, contemplating on what to reply.
“ughm, sure… if you want to,”
Anderson replied and took the fruits to the sink to wash them.
Anderson cut the cucumbers open, and ed them over to Jace to go peel off the yucky part inside while he cut other fruits into several even parts.
“get me the cream in the fridge.”
Anderson gave Jace a command as soon as he was done cutting the fruits, rewashing, and putting them in a clean, washed, white ceramic bowl.
“Alright.”
Jace said and headed towards the fridge to get the salad cream.
moments later, he was back with the cream in his hand.
“here you go.”
Anderson collected the cream jar, opened the lid, and scooped up some cream with a scooper and onto the fruits in the bowl.
“get some plates. three to be exact.”
Anderson said as he focused on stirring the thick cream and sliced fruits into an even mix.
“here.”
Jace said and dropped the three chinas on the kitchen table gently.
Anderson gave him a warm smile and Jace smiled back.
he grabbed some spoons by the side and handed Jace one.
when Jace looked at the spoon and then back up at him, his eyes holding a question, Anderson gave a small chuckle.
“I want you to check how it tastes.”
Anderson smiled.
“Not that I’m a bad cook, I just want you to be the first to taste my cooking.”
Jace gave a small ‘o’ before nodding and digging the spoon into the bowl, then put in his mouth.
“hmmm….”
came a delighted moan from Jace.
“how’s it?”
“This is great… very good.”
Jace complemented truthfully.
“you likey?”
“I lovey!”
Jace exclaimed, making Anderson smile.
‘he might not be as evil as Alexa had described him to be, after all. ‘
Jace thought inwardly.
Anderson scooped up the even mix unto the three plates until they were filled, and the bowl empty.
“carefully take the food to the dining table, while I go in search of Alexa.”
Anderson instructed.
“ok.”
Jace said and Anderson left.
? Anderson ?
I have no idea where in this huge house Alexa might be, so instead of stressing… I decided to check the security system upstairs in my study.
I imputed my code lock-in, and the door to my study opened. I walked in, making the door close right after me. I went to sit at the desk in the middle of the bookshelf’s enclosed walls.
My study was a combination of a mini library, a small bedroom with a toilet inside behind a door, and a security system on the computer and was watching them.
I had about 10 – 15 cameras installed in my house and I had only gone through three.
I was on the seventh when I saw Alexa walk past it and into a door I didn’t know what it held inside.
yeah!
you heard me right.
I live here, but there are too many rooms and turns in this room, so most times I forget what a certain room holds in it.
I click on the eighth camera, but still nothing.
ninth, tenth, then eleventh.
Alexa was on the balcony upstairs!
why didn’t I think of that?
of course, she would be there.
after crying, she’d need fresh air, goddammit! I’m such an idiot.
I rushed out of the room, not bothering to even turn the computer off, and climbed up the stairs till I got to the balcony.
I stopped running when I saw her, she’d stopped crying by now, but her eyes were so puffy… like the first day I met her.
she seemed to notice my presence and turned to look in my direction.
she sighed and stood up.
“what do you want?”
she asked, her voice drained of life.
“Alexa, I’m…”
“Sorry?”
she completed before huffing.
“haven’t you said that enough already?”
“I just want you to know that…”
“know what Anderson?! you fucking hurt me all the time, apologize and think all is well?”
she yelled all mad.
“I’m so sorry. I prom…”
“oh no! I ain’t doing this shit no more.”
she said and made to leave through the staircase by the other side that led straight to the backyard.
I rushed after her, caught her wrist just at the right time, turned her around, and pulled her towards me as I wrapped my hands around her and let her head rest on my chest.
“I love you.”
