Master Odell’s Secret Ex-wife

Chapter 1856

Chapter 1856

Caprice was weirded out but paid no mind to it.

Shortly after that, Moses showed up again.

“Caprice, can we talk in my office?” He gestured in the direction of his office.

Caprice nodded and followed him into the office.

As soon as the office door was shut, Kenneth and several other snoopers clambered outside the office. Inside the office, Moses sat Caprice down and poured a glass of water for her.

Caprice stated solemnly, “Moses, please just tell me what's on your mind. You don’t have to be worried about hurting my feelings.”

“That’s not what I’m doing. | just feel guilty because | let you down.” Moses took a deep breath, and a troubled look surfaced on his face. “Caprice, | heard from Jonathan that a man took you away last night. Could you tell me about your relationship with that man?”

He was talking about Liam.

Caprice replied, “He’s something like a brother to me.”Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!

Moses fixed a look on her. “He’s not your real brother?”

Caprice shook her head. “No, he is the son of my mother’s best sister.”

“He...” Moses stammered as he spoke, “Is he a particularly influential man in Westchester?” Caprice eyed him suspiciously. “Moses, why are you asking me this?”

Moses exhaled tiredly before continuing, “President Michael, the one who was harassing you last night has been fired after a joint decision by the board members at Swift Tech Corporation. | don’t know the details, but it seems like all of the employees who were at Elysian House with him last night were laid off as well and even fled the city.”

The news came as a shock to Caprice.

Could it be a coincidence? After what they had done to her last night, all of them were suddenly fired and even fled the city overnight!

Could Liam be the one behind this? He must have punished them for what they did to her! Something gleamed in her eyes. “Caprice, were they... Was the Liam you mentioned the one behind this?” Moses asked curiously.

Swift Tech Corporation was one of the most reputable companies in Westchester, and President Michael held a significant position inside the company that put him among the top three in terms of authority. For someone of his stature to be fired overnight, someone very powerful must have been at work to orchestrate these events.

Caprice was afraid of drawing unwanted attention and answered hazily, “I know that Liam runs a business, but he’s always very busy. | don’t think he has time for something like this.”

It sounded very convincing the way she put it.

Moses looked at her again.

When he thought about it, Caprice probably would not have worked for him if she knew someone so powerful and influential in the city.

With this in mind, he breathed a sigh of relief before continuing, “Alright, that’s enough questions from me. Are there any questions you have for me? | promise to do my best to answer whatever questions you may have for me.”

Caprice had come in here expecting to be fired, but now that events had developed into what they were, it could hardly be said that she caused any trouble at all for the company. She looked intently at Moses. “Moses, I’m fine. You don’t have to offer me any kind of compensation for what happened.”

“Is there anything | can do for you?” he asked sincerely.

Caprice was very blunt about her intentions. “Moses, thank you for being so kind to me, but | don’t think | should continue working here.”

She should have never been here in the first place.

It was a start-up company, and all of its employees worked very hard and put everything they had on the line. What they needed was a driven and qualified member, not someone who was still in university with no experience to speak of.

Besides, she wanted to find a job that she was interested in and could offer her a chance to develop herself.

The administrative assistant position Moses assigned to her was a rather simple, even monotonous job, and she had hoped for something more.

She rose from her seat. Moses rose as well and approached her as he looked into her eyes. “Is this because of what happened last night?”

“No.” Caprice smiled apologetically. “Moses, you of all people should know that I’m not someone that your company needs or is looking for. I’m just wasting your resources.”

Moses grimaced as he felt his voice lodged inside his throat.

Caprice had nothing to add after this. She lapped around Moses and stepped outside.

As soon as she opened the door, she saw Kenneth and several other employees crowded nearby. They smiled politely at her. Caprice returned a polite smile, then she returned to her seat and began packing up

her

belongings.
