Chapter 1870
Chapter 1870
A large group began swarming toward Isa Tower.
Freya tugged at Caprice's hands. "Come on. Let's check things out over there too!"
Caprice had no objections to the sudden detour. She knew that Freya was a big fan of a certain TV show that Isabel starred in.
Many people flocked in the same direction. It seemed like it was public knowledge that the famous Isabel Ross was shooting a scene outside Isa Tower.
A large crowd formed out of nowhere on the street that was empty only moments ago.
After arriving at Isa Tower, Caprice accidentally tripped over a stranger's feet and lost her balance.
Just as she was about to tumble to the ground, she felt a hand seize her arm and save her from falling. Caprice thought it was Freya who saved her from the fall, but she looked up to meet Moses instead. He looked into her eyes. "Are you okay?"
Caprice stood upright and thanked him, "I'm fine. Thanks for helping me, Moses.*
He smiled warmly. "You're welcome. Glad I helped."
Freya hurried to Caprice and was relieved to see that Carrie was unharmed. She then turned her attention to Moses. "Moses, why isn't Kenneth with you?"
"He went somewhere else with Jonathan," Moses informed before suddenly apologizing solemnly, "I'm sorry about what happened back there."
Freya would not have it. "Moses, you've done nothing wrong. Don't apologize! If you want to make things up for us, I just need you to tell Kenneth that the ticket we used was perfectly legitimate. The owner of Carter Tech City said so himself. We were not trying to use counterfeits. We would not do something disgraceful like that!*
Because of Freya's flamboyant look and voluptuous figures, people always assumed the worst of her. The truth was that she abided by a strict set of morals and ethics, and she would never do something as foul as using counterfeit tickets.
Moses turned to Caprice as if to seek verification.
Caprice backed Freya up. "Frey is telling the truth. Our tickets were legitimate."
Moses gave his word. "Okay, I'll talk to Kenneth."
Freya was relieved to hear this.
Moses continued to regard Caprice with a troubled look on his face.
Caprice noticed something was off. She initiated, "Moses, do you have anything on your mind?"
Moses nodded gravely. "Could we talk for a moment?"
Caprice turned to Freya. "Frey, could you give me a minute? I'll be right back."
Freya glanced at Moses and told her warily, "Okay, be careful."
Moses quickly assured her, 'Don't worry, I'll keep her safe. You can trust me."
Freya was only mildly assured but kept her opinions to herself.
Caprice and Moses stepped away from the crowd and stepped under the shade of some trees by the roadside. Moses spoke in a heavy voice. It looked like he had been rehearsing this dialogue in his mind. "Caprice, it was my fault, I should have stopped Kenneth back there. I should have gone up to you to help you."
Caprice was delighted to hear that it was not some terrible news. "Don't worry about it. Kenneth is just all bark and no bite anyway. Besides, you couldn't come to me anyway. There was nothing you could have done to help."
"But I... I shouldn't have stood there helplessly and let them treat you like that."
"I don't blame you. You already passed through the gate. You couldn't have come back outside to help me."
Moses grimaced tightly.
Caprice remarked briskly, "Frey is waiting for me over there. I think I'll join her if you don't have anything else to tell me."
"I..." Moses had to strain the words out of his lips. "Can we... Are we still friends going forward?"
Caprice smiled and answered brightly, "Of course!"
Under the hazy streetlights, her radiant smile seemed to illuminate the space around them. Moses was smitten by her beauty. He found himself smiling like a fool without being able to explain why.
Caprice walked into the crowd to look for Freya.
Moses remained rooted in the same spot and watched her.Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.
