Chapter 1944
Caprice made a show of collapsing into Sherry's arm and pretending to fall asleep.
John and Sherry exchanged a weak smile.
After driving for another half an hour, they arrived at a restaurant. It was one of Caprice's favorite restaurants. They entered a box and had a wonderful dinner, stuffing their stomachs with delicious food.
After the meal, they all went home together.
On the way home, Caprice fell asleep halfway through the drive. A combination of her relaxed mood after finally being finished with work and her exhaustion made her sleep like a log. She was squeezed between Sherry and John and slumped against John's shoulder, using him as a pillow.
Sherry gently brushed the side of her daughter's cheeks with her fingers. After making sure that she had indeed fallen asleep, she smiled and turned to John, speaking in a low voice, "How was her performance at work?"
"She did a great job." John looked dotingly at her daughter's sleeping expression and elaborated, "She's very serious about her work and is a very organized worker. She knows how to deal with people, which makes up for her lack of experience. It's all about being adaptable and knowing how to communicate with others. So long as she’s willing to put in work, I'm sure she will fare well going forward."
Sherry had to admit she was a little surprised by John's favorable feedback.
Growing up, Caprice had always been a soft-spoken girl and tended to be a little on the slower end at times. Sherry did not expect such tall praises, especially coming from John of all people.
Perhaps Caprice had only been too lazy to put her brains to work this entire time. When she was willing to put in the effort, she was rather formidable.
She looked at Caprice's sleeping face and chuckled to herself.
Something occurred to her as she turned to John again. "By the way, Syl just called me this afternoon. She heard about Caprice making up with
Liam and was calling to ask if we should let them get engaged to them this year."
As John frowned, he promptly leaned back against the seat and closed his eyes. He looked like he was going to fall asleep. Sherry did not speak. She just sighed deeply.
If it wasn't for fear of accidentally waking up the exhausted Caprice, she would have smacked John right on the head.
The next morning, after having breakfast, Caprice said goodbye to her parents and Madam Stockton. Then, she put her luggage into the car and began her journey back to Westchester.
There was another week until the official start of the next semester, but she was already itching to go back because she had not seen Liam for almost two weeks.
During these two weeks, she dedicated the entirety of her attention to work. Since Liam was just as, if not busier than her, they barely had time to talk. She missed him dearly.
The car merged into the highway linking the two cities.
Three hours later, the car was parked outside the gate of the Sparkrow University dormitory. She hopped out of the car and carried her luggage into the dormitory.
Both Freya and Piper were working while Lana was lazing around the dormitory playing games.
After dropping off her luggage, Caprice briefly unpacked everything before leaving again. She planned to go to Carter Tech City to visit Liam.Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
As soon as she walked past the gate, she saw Heather who was draped in branded goods and had a cool pair of sunglasses on. Her entire demeanor screamed dignity and made her seem difficult to approach.
Although there was another week until the start of the semester, many students had returned to the campus. Many passersby could not help stealing glances at Heather.
Heather seemed to be enjoying the attention as well, and there was a shadow of a grin hanging by her lips. Caprice immediately grew suspicious.
Why was Heather here? Was Heather here to see her?
