Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 192

Selena propped her chin on her hand, staring for a good ten seconds before bursting into laughter. "Looks like there's been a mix-up. After today, I'm not celebrating our wedding anniversary anymore. It'll be our divorce anniversary." "Selena, I flew over ten hours just to be here for our anniversary, and you're talking about divorce?"

That familiar voice sent a shiver down her spine. Selena instinctively looked up.

Emerging from behind the cake was a man with striking features, dressed to the nines in a sharp three-piece suit. He was the picture of elegance. From NôvelDrama.Org.

He pulled out a chair and sat across from her, noticing her wide-eyed stare. With a smirk, he asked, "Weren't you expecting me? What's got you so surprised?"

How could she not be surprised?

Selena even wondered if she'd had one too many drinks and was imagining things... But after blinking several times and seeing him still there, she finally accepted that Everett was really there.

Catching the playful glint in his eyes, she snapped back and instinctively denied it. "I wasn't waiting for you! Don't get ahead of yourself."

Everett's smile didn't falter, unfazed by her words. He began to eat with grace, picking up his knife and fork like he owned the room.

She had gotten used to his cheekiness over time. Swirling her wine glass, she couldn't help but tease, "Weren't you supposed to be in America at some fancy event?"

Everett took a bite of his steak, glancing up with a warm smile. "What event could be more important than our anniversary?" His voice was low and smooth, enough to send a shiver down anyone's spine.

Selena bit her lip, trying to keep her composure. Everett really knew how to turn on the charm. Trying to steady her racing heart, she replied casually, "But I heard Paul's daughter is quite the looker. Don't you think you're missing out?" Everett paused mid-cut, his dark eyes locking onto hers. He casually twisted the wedding ring on his finger and replied with a lazy drawl, "If memory serves, I'm a married man."

Selena glanced over, feeling her heart betray her by speeding up.

They had skipped the wedding ceremony, he hadn't even shownzup to sign the paperwork, and he was a no-show on their wedding night. A wedding ring was out of the question-until now.

Josh had pushed him into buying one, so Everett had dragged her to the store to pick it out. But for three years, he hadn't worn it, leaving her to wear hers alone.

Now that he had put it on, was this his way of finally acknowledging their marriage and publicly claiming her as his wife?

She felt her defenses crumbling.

After dinner, they went back to Moon Bay.

As Selena stepped into the bedroom,

she was taken aback by what she

saw. The room was decked out with

streamers and balloons, the bed

was covered in heart-shaped rose

petals, and a soft, romantic glow

filled the air.

Suddenly, he wrapped his arms around her from behind, his deep voice murmuring in her ear, "Tonight, let's make up for our wedding night." Before Selena could react, Everett scooped her up, taking long strides to the bed and gently setting her down at its edge.

Then, he knelt on one knee, his hand holding onto her delicate ankle. He lowered his head, planted a kiss on her calf, and slowly moved upward. It was both beautifully tender and intensely passionate.

Selena felt goosebumps rise all over her skin, and though she tried to pull her leg back, his grip was firm. Her voice came out in a shaky whisper. "Everett, please, don't do this..."
