Mistake with the Alpha

POV

Ain't you going to free that poor woman from the prison?"

Brock and I were at the construction site. We were seated under one of the completed buildings but no one was there with us. It was a nice place to sit so we could see those working at every corner. "What woman?"

I didn't seem to remember who he was talking about. Brock gave me a frown.

"Have you forgotten that you sent your girlfriend to one prison like that?" "Oh you are talking about Sam?"

I asked when I remembered that he's talking about Sam. Well it's not totally my fault for not remembering for a while because my own Sam is not in prison. She sleeps beside me every night. "Are you hiding something?"

The way Brock looked at me made me know that I was already showing my happiness. This could get me into trouble. I quickly gave a straight face.

"What is there to hide?" I said blankly.

Brock's face was really suspicious and I know if he wants to find out, he will so I decided to distract him.

"You said you were going to tell me about my mate. Is it too much if I ask you to tell me now?"

Brock looked at me for a moment before he finally shook his head.

"What do you want to know?"

I felt relieved. I had thought he would pester me in Sam's issue.

"Do you think I have two mates?"

Brock chuckled. "Do you know the history of the mating bond at all?"

"Who wouldn't know that?" I frowned.

Since ancient days it has been said that the mating bond was a curse from the moon goddess to the werewolves especially we males. Every wolf is tied to just a mate and the soul and body is both tied together. "How then will your wolf be tied to two mates?" He asked with a mocking look.

"I'm a hybrid. Moreover everything about me seems mysterious. So it's possible" I said as if I'm assuring myself.

Brock shook his head in disagreement.

"I'm the only hybrid without mating," I argued.

My life is a mystery and I've accepted that.

"Not true," Brock said.

"Well that shocked me. "What do you mean?"

"Haven't you ever wondered why lycans didn't take immediate possession of you when you were found?"

"That's because I'm a hybrid. Vampire at that".

My father had told me this story.

Brock smiled." That's not the whole story, friend. The truth is that, a long time ago, there was a lycan hybrid whom they discovered seven years after his birth. Everyone was scared and thought him to be evil because then vampires and wolves were sworn enemies. The then Alpha King didn't know what to do so he ordered the child to be killed. So Jaylen, father didn't accept you but didn't want to get you killed. That's why you came back to your family".

I didn't know Brock could be this calm to explain things to me. He's not even with his usual domineering look.

"So you are saying I can't have two mates?" I asked to confirm my thinking.

"Jaylen, check your heart. Do you really think you have two mates?"

I was so confused. "I don't know".

"If you think you have two mates, shouldn't the two powers in you confirm their mates. If you've found your werewolf mates, your vampire should be able to tell you the other mate. Isn't it?"

I nodded but then I remembered that my vampire is under subjection.

"I don't know if my vampire is dormant," I told him.

"If you really want to be sure, activate it".

I shook my head. "I can't live without my mate. If I picked the wrong woman, there would be trouble".

Brock didn't say anything for a while that I even thought that our discussion had ended.

"Had it been that female who claimed to be pregnant for you is saying the truth, the sight of your baby can relax your wild side".

His words made me see a solution to my problem. I knew Sam's pregnancy was mine. Then I should use that. That's what I was going to do tonight. I looked at Brock without saying any words. I don't know if I could fully tell him my secret.

"And again, you can use your mate. To lycans, it doesn't usually mean "until we mark our mate before we claim our mate".

"Please explain more".

I know this will be very useful for me so I concentrated.

"Once a lycan finds a normal werewolf as a mate, the male or female begins to transform from that moment. The time they would fully transform varies but he lycan shouldn't mark his mate until the full transformation happens. It's in the mist of the transformation that the lycan will mark his mate. That's how we know our true mate. So have you noticed any changes in your mate?"

That question is one thing I can't answer. I've never had time to really be with Allison. Now I feel I've done bad. "I don't know".

"Well it's not too late. Since you've found your mate, she should be in her final stage of transforming. You'll soon see it".

After speaking with Brock, I was really looking forward to Allison transforming. I then thought to treat Sam to days of enjoyment with me. If Allison transforms, I wouldn't have any choice than to let Sam go as soon as she has my baby.

If she then seems to be my vampire mate, I will then get to keep the two women. Well that wouldn't be something happy because Allison and Sam are cat and rat. Sam is calm but then Allison would kill her.

I took Sam to the human land and we really enjoyed ourselves. I kept looking at her. Tearing away from this female is really painful. She's just like peace in my heart.
