Chapter 57 She's As Enchanting As A Poppy
Chapter 57 She's As Enchanting As A Poppy
She sneered wildly and wantonly, looking charming.
Euan was shocked and angry and had a bit of a headache at the same time. In three years, she had
not only grown in ability and boldness, but also in thorns.
Well, Euan would slowly pull the thorns out of her body one by one.
She had saved herself from undergoing the sufferings of flesh with provocation and sarcasm. And
Euan had gone into the bedroom wrapped in a blanket after taking bath and never said another word to
her.
She was practically out of her wits. If she continued to argue with him, she was bound to be unable to
cope.
Wasn't it just sleeping on the sofa? She wasn't so pretentious.
But lying on the couch, she was sleepless. Fumbling with the ring she had picked up shamelessly,
Riley pursed her lips. Of course, she had to keep something so valuable. It would be a great weapon to
use during their divorce.
Only, as soon as the word divorce came to mind, Riley's frown never unfolded.
Thinking about the cocktails she had bought, she simply got up barefoot, opened the fridge and took
two of the fancy cocktails out, and took several sips from the bottle.
Heh.
As she drank, she laughed to herself. Heart?
Of course, she had a heart. Her heart was all in him. From the first meeting until just now, every beat of
her heart had screamed out her attachment to him.
He was the one who didn't have a heart!
Riley wrapped her fingers around the bottle of wine. The red wine stained her lips, making it look as
enchanting as a poppy.
‘Euan, let's play a game. I don't believe I can't have your heart. Even if we divorce, I'll take your heart
with me!’
It had been three years, no, five years in total, and she had been totally devoted to him, only to receive
the word "bitch" from him in return.
So she would let him have his way, let him see how he fell under her skirt as a bitch!
Putting down the wine, her face was tinted cherry pink from the low level of alcohol. Cuddling up to her
pillow, Riley fell into a deep sleep.
Of course, she wouldn't know the look on the face of the man who had walked out of the bedroom at
midnight, stopping by the sofa and seeing the crimson on her face by the moonlight.
Nor would she know how the blanket she had kicked away had returned to her.
Riley woke up early the next morning, feeling a little light-headed. She had a real cold.
With her clothes drying on the balcony, she returned to the bathroom to change her clothes and tied
her hair behind her head with a rubber band. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
She made a simple, light, and delicate home-made breakfast. It was a nutritious and appetizing
Chinese meal, consisting of freshly ground soy milk and yellow fried eggs. She set the breakfast on the
table with grace and elegance.
There were boxes of toothbrushes in the trash that had been thrown away. It looked like he'd found a
spare toothbrush from home last night. The corners of Riley's mouth curled as she took a sip of the soy
milk.
Euan was a human being, no matter how good he was. He must have the basic needs of life.
Shedding all his pride, didn't he still get sick and feel hungry?
‘Just be arrogant, don't eat for a while if you can!’
After breakfast, Riley grabbed the spare key and went out.
When Euan got up, there was no longer Riley in the house, only the smell of breakfast filling the small
living room.
Euan's brow furrowed at this sight.
Did she just go away after leaving breakfast?
"Elijah, come here now."
Where the hell did Riley get the nerve to challenge his authority!
When she arrived at the hospital, Riley had changed into a brand new white coat and was walking
briskly down the corridor with her heels clicking. It was as if the events of the last few days had not left
a mark on her face. She was Dr. Watson again, aloof and unapproachable.
"Dr. Watson."
She had just finished her rounds and was exchanging treatment options for a patient with her assistant
when William came out of the lift and called out to her.
Riley smiled at him of course, "Mr. Hardesty, can I help you?"
The assistant and several other doctors greeted William. He nodded symbolically, but his eyes
remained on Riley, "Mary's surgery was successful. Do you want to go see her?"
"Really?"
Riley could not hide her joy, and watery eyes glowed with a faint light.
"Really, the patient is out of danger before I came to see you. Come on, let's go see her together."
William's invitation was so course, and although there was an indescribable intimacy, onlookers could
not see the slightest hint of ambiguity between the two. They just envied Riley for getting on so quickly
with Mr. Hardesty.
Inside the intensive care unit.
Mary was lying quietly. Her husband and mother stood by, thanking William and Riley again and again.
The image of Riley, trampled into the mud, rose.
But -
Riley asked in a low voice, "Mr. Hardesty, did you ... really promise the family and save the adult?"
Because Mary's big belly was gone, and it was flat under the covers. Her heart ached. That was a
forming child!
Seeing her nervous look all of a sudden, William smiled, and the cleft in his chin showed slowly. He
smiled so warmly, "I promised you that I would save them both. How could I go back on my word?"
"Where is the ... child?"
"Come with me."
A few minutes later, Riley saw the tiny baby in the incubator. Just seven months old, the baby seemed
to be able to be picked up with one hand. He was so small that one's heart melted at the sight of him.
Riley moved closer to the incubator and looked at the tiny creature inside with fascination. His little
hand wiggled gently as if he was still lying in his mummy's tummy, and his tiny pink fist clenched. That
tiny, pink little baby was like a spring of water flowing through Riley's parched heart, touching the
softest tip of her heart.
The baby ... this magical little creature was the baby.
Riley couldn't help but press her hand against the glass and wrap the baby's fingers through it, "Baby,
how are you?"
William, who was tall and warm, stood behind her. He smiled abruptly as he sensed her strong
affection for the baby, "He's fine, but he was born prematurely and will be here for half a month. You'll
be able to hold him in half a month."
"How amazing! Have you ever noticed how amazing life really is! From being so small and slowly
growing into a man! It's really amazing."
There was a love for the child in her eyes and brows. She loved children and wished so much that she
had a child of her own! She and Euan's child.
Why was she thinking of him again!
Riley's love for her child infected William, "You love children. You'll be a good mother in the future."
"If I had a child of my own, I would love her." Riley couldn't take her eyes off the baby, as if he had
become her own.
"I love children too. Having children of my own and watching them grow up day by day is the greatest
happiness a parent can have. I've always longed for such a day."
Riley nodded her head obliviously, "Me too."
After saying that, she snapped back to her senses. Riley immediately adjusted herself to hide her
embarrassment, "I still have something to do. I have to go."
Riley frowned. How could she be so unprepared to show her true feelings in front of William?
She couldn't be falling for him, could she?
No, no, no! This was ridiculous!
She walked out quickly on long legs. Without waiting for the man behind her to speak, her slim white
figure had already disappeared out the door.
William couldn't help himself and giggled at the empty door. ‘Riley, you're so cute! What am I going to
do?’
Riley returned to the office to find Serena and Margot and Teddy all looking at her. All three of them had
the wrong look on their faces, so she wondered, "What's wrong?"
Serena pointed inside to where her office was located. With his back to her, a man sat in the chair. He
was tall and thin, very young, dressed in casual clothes and with tangled hair. He wasn't sitting
properly, either, and his legs were swaying.
"Why are you here again?"
Noted the word again.
Hendrix turned the chair to face Riley. He hooked his fingers in the keychain and twirled it around. With
his eyes narrowed, he grinned, "Dr. Watson, it's been a long time. I've been sick again."
The key in his hand was hers.
So, he had all her things.
"Say, what's bothering you this time?" Riley drew a pen from his pocket, ready to take notes, "Heart,
liver, spleen, stomach, kidneys, small intestine, brain and blood vessels. Would you like me to give you
a full-body check-up?"
Hendrix, "... Dr. Watson, do you have to be so mean?"
Riley threw away the pen and paper and whispered, "Give me the stuff and you can go."
Hendrix stroke his eyebrow in displeasure, "I worked late into the night last night to deal with the
aftermath for you and my brother, and I came over to deliver your stuff in person. Shouldn't you have
given something to me?"
Riley put her hands back in her pockets and frowned, then laughed, "I give you my sympathy."
"You ... you are intolerable."
"That's fine. I'm not trying to talk to you either. Give me the stuff. And what do you think the
consequences will be if your brother finds out you've come to the hospital to look for me over and over
again?"
Hendrix wailed inside and the anger he was holding back nearly broke his handsome face, "You're so
unlovely when you're being ungrateful. Sister-in-law, you're so strong, no wonder my brother is
obsessed with Lydia."
The three people next to them stared in disbelief as they watched the two muttering. Hendrix's more
and more courageous approach to courtship was really respectable.
Riley snatched the keys out of his hand, "Where's my phone?"
Hendrix looked around the office at the doctors waiting to watch the fun and smiled cheekily, "Sister-in-
law, if I handed you the stuff in front of them, it would be a big misunderstanding. Why don't we go
outside? "
Damn you, Hendrix!
"Put the stuff on the table, Mr. George, I'll only give you a minute. Don't push my limits. "
Hendrix suddenly covered his stomach and yelped, "Dr. Watson, I think I've been poisoned. I've eaten
a poisoned apple by mistake."
Riley gritted her teeth, "Dr. Rose! Take him to a gastric lavage and enema. The patient has food
poisoning!"
Hendrix, "!!!"
Blasting Hendrix away, Riley picked up her phone to find that Sarah had sent her dozens of voice
messages and had been asking about what had happened at the party last night.
"Great or not? Was it awesome?"
"Great, awesome. A class A from appearance and physique, from stature to skill."
Sarah exclaimed, "Next time something good happens, bring me along! Mwah! So how are you getting
on?"
Riley rubbed her eyebrows and replied, "I failed."
"Crap! So, you failed again?"
"The spirit of the pursuit of success would always remain, and we have a long day ahead of us. But
Sarah, your necklace actually looks exactly like Lydia's."
"... Damn it!"
Riley put her phone down and noticed that there was someone else in the office. The woman was tall
and slim, and the disinfectant couldn't hide the smell of Givenchy perfume on her. It was none other
than Jeanne.
It couldn't be good that she was here.
As it turned out, Jeanne had come for her.
"Dr. Watson, you seem to have a lot of time on your hands."
"On the contrary, I'm very busy."
Jeanne's red lips curled. "Well, I don't care what you're busy with, put your work down for now. There's
an assignment that you're going to work with right away?"
"What's the assignment?"
"The AIDS Village Medical Aid Team is short of a cardiologist. Our ace specialist, Dr. Watson, of
course, is the first choice!"
Oh, God!
Jeanne had assigned Riley to volunteer in an AIDS village? That kind of place ... To put it nicely, she
was there to be an angel in white, but who didn't know how much risk was involved in treating them
and what if ...
Serena and Margot were afraid to speak. Teddy tried to say, "Ms. Pouchain, Dr. Watson is the
backbone of our internal medicine department. It's not right for her to go, is it?"
"What? You want to go?"
Riley smiled faintly, "Since Ms. Pouchain trusts me so much, I'll be obliged to do so. When am I
leaving?"
"Since you're obliged to do so, then get ready. You’ll leave at three in the afternoon!"
Serena couldn't help but squeal, "It's almost twelve o'clock now!"
