Given Moses” character, there was always the risk of him inadvertently revealing the truth. As long as there was a chance for Joshua’s recovery, they had to keep this matter concealed. They could not let anyone know.

“Alright.” Cynthia agreed.

Nonetheless, Cynthia boarded the vehicle and headed for the airport. The extent of Joshua’s future recovery would depend on both his luck and Sean’s abilities. The situation weighed heavily on Cynthia’s heart, and Felix was far from controubled. After seeing Cynthia oft, he sat alone in the car, pendering Joshua’s current state and massaging his furrowed brow.

It was undeniably hard to bear when he leamed of his son’s predicament. Apart from the emotional strain, it was also difficult because Joshua had always been a source of pride and never a cause for worry. He was always a paragon of excellence, the child others often spoke of in envious terms. However, now the situation was dize. With severe damage to the central nervous system, a variety of symptonss could potentially manifest. The worry was all too real.

If Joshua’s condition did not improve and if his mental faculties were impaired, that was a burden they could bear. However, the potential for paralysis, loss of speech, or even sensory impairment was what truly scared Felix. He feared Joshua would not be able to cope. The young man had always been proud, and such a blow might be too much to handle. As for Cynthia, Felix never held her at fault. How could he blame the very person his son would risk his life to protect? He only hoped Cynthia would understand that Joshua’s decisions were his own and that she had no need to live her life burdened by guilt.

With this though: in mind, he lit up his phone and sent Cynthia a message. [Don’t carry any guilt. You did what you could ] After sending the message, be deleted part of his chat history with her. Even

Upon arriving at the old house, he gathered himself before exiting the car, returning to his unflappable demeanor. By the time he returned, Old Man Neal and Daphne Neal had finished their game of chess and were chatting idly.

“Are you done with your errands?” Daphne asked him gently upon his arrival.

Felix fetched a shawl and draped it over her, fearing she might feel cold, before responding with a simple, “Yes” ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .

“What was it about?”

“Your son.”

Upon hearing this, Daphne’s gaze fell on him. Despite having celebrated his birthday just a few days ago, a mothers worry for her child was unending. Even Old Man Neal turned his attention their way.

Felix casually poured himself a cup of tea, responding with nonchalance, “After his move to Nexuria, he has neglected matters at the head office. The secretary department asked me to handle some things.”

“You should help him out more then. Joshua has been overworked for a while now. It’s about time he took things a bit easier,” Daphine suggested, talong a practical view of the situation.

“Do you only worry about our son and not your husband?” Felix responded, raising an eyebrow in jest

Before Daphne had a chance to speak, Old Man Neal interjected, “What’s wrong with caring about your son? Weren’t it for Joshua, would you have been able to win Daphne over?”

Felix remained composed in the face of his words.

“Assigning you to manage the company was Joshua’s vote of confidence in your abilities. At your age, apart from Joshua, nobody else would need you,” Old Man Neal continued, praising his grandson at the expense of his son.

“Aren’t you the one who used to despise him?” retorted Felix, maintaining his usual tone and attitude.

“Well, compared to Cynthia, it’s not surprising he was looked down upon. However, compared to you, he’s far superior,” Old Man Neal sneered, making his point with an air of absolute seriousness.

A hint of amusement crept into Felix’s expression.
