Mr. Neal, Mrs. Neal’s Gone With The Money

Chapter 77

Chapter 77

Cynthia was shocked when she heard Old Man Neal’s voice.

“Grandpa? What brings you here?” Cynthia asked, setting down her utensils and standing up.

“Is this all you’re having for lunch?” Old Man Neal asked, his expression full of concern.

“I wasn’t very hungry, so I prepared lunch with whatever’s available here. Have you eaten? If not, I’ll ask them to get something for you,” Cynthia explained politely.

Old Man Neal’s gaze lingered on her for a moment, his expression complex. He asked, “Do they listen to you?”

Cynthia pursed her lips, unsure how to answer.

“Tell Grandpa, did Joshua confine you here and not allow you to go out?” Old Man Neal was angry at Joshua.

“Grandpa, please believe me. Joshua isn’t keeping me here against my will,” Cynthia lied, not wanting him to worry too much. Besides, if she really wanted to leave, these people would not be able to stop her.

Cynthia was willing to stay here for the time being because she did not want to deal with the drama anymore or argue with Joshua about Jayleen.

“Why couldn’t I reach you on your phone earlier?” Old Man Neal asked, pressing the issue.

“Somebody called me, and it was getting annoying, so I turned it off,” Cynthia replied, choosing her words carefully.

Old Man Neal’s wrinkled face showed more concern. As an elder, he did not want to interfere too much in the affairs of the

youngsters.

If Cynthia did not admit to being held against her will, there was not much he could do.

Just then, Joshua returned. He frowned slightly at the sight of Cynthia and Old Man Neal talking in the living room.

Walking over with his usual detached demeanor, Joshua greeted Old Man Neal, “Grandpa.”

However, Old Man Neal did not give him a warm welcome, declaring, “I want to take Cynthia back to Old Neal Manor for a few days.”

Cynthia was surprised. Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.

Joshua immediately refused, “No.”

“Why are you refusing before Cynthia even speaks?” Old Man Neal did not want Cynthia to be mistreated. Even if she was going to divorce his own grandson, he still wanted her to be happy.

“I have something to discuss with Cynthia. She won’t have time until we receive the divorce certificate,” Joshua lied with exceptional skill.

Old Man Neal asked Cynthia, “Is that true?”

Cynthia replied simply, “Mmhmm.”

They both had the same goal: to handle their own affairs without bothering their elders.

Old Man Neal also knew that the two had their own plans, so he came here for two purposes. First, if Cynthia admitted to being confined, Old Man Neal would take her away to give her freedom. If she denied it, his visit would serve as a warning to Joshua, reminding him that Old Man Neal would support Cynthia.

The more Old Man Neal thought about it, the more complicated his feelings became. In the end, he expressed his dissatisfaction with Joshua and said, “Come with me. I have something to tell you.”

Joshua obediently followed him, and they talked for about ten minutes.

“I’ve said what needs to be said. If you dare to restrict Cynthia’s freedom or bully her, you’ll face the consequences when you come back,” Old Man Neal concluded.

“I understand,” Joshua replied, his gaze deepening.

Old Man Neal did not stay long and left after telling someone to buy better food and drinks for Cynthia.

He also said a lot of things to her before leaving.

After Old Man Neal left, the entire villa was left with only Cynthia, Joshua, and the bodyguards.

Joshua was still dressed in a suit as he looked at the bowl of pasta that was still half full on the table. Then, he coldly sneered, ”

I didn’t know you had the skill to act pitiful before.”
