Chapter 13 A Worse Chaos
Chapter 13 A Worse Chaos
Before Lemuel could utter a word, Verena, who sat opposite to him, suddenly exclaimed, "What?"
Sammy looked at Wilson with big eyes, "Daddy, did we go bankruptcy?"
Wilson looked at him confusedly, "Sammy, why do you say so?"
"Because you make Miss Pretty go to work. Does it mean that you can't support her financially,
daddy?" his sweet voice sounded again.
Then he continued seriously, "But it's okay. I have a lot of pocket money! I can afford to support Miss
Pretty!"
When hearing that, Wilson found it hilarious.
Cole tapped his head and fixed his charming eyes on him, "Wow, our little boy knows how to keep a
mistress at such a young age! I didn't expect you to be so mature! Come on, you should know that
even an evening dress and a set of jewelry would exceed all you have! How could you afford that!
What a joke!"
"Cole, don't knock my head! I can afford it since I said so!" Sammy even lifted up his little chest, looking
proud of himself.
Verena was amused by him. However, when she noticed how bad her current situation was, mixed
feelings surged up in her mind.
How could she figure out an excuse to refuse?
Frowning, Cole was knocking the plate with tableware. Then he said, "Dad, are you serious? You want
to make her work in the company? Aren't you worried if she would embezzle all the funds? Are you so
drowsy that you can't make decision clearly? Do you need more sleep? You are getting too old to think
wisely. And you even love to sleep with young girls…"
Then Wilson glared at him with warning eyes, "I think you should go back to work in the company
again…"
When hearing that, Cole kept his mouth shut. He almost bit his tongue off.
Lemuel looked at Wilson calmly. He didn't say anything else to reply. No one could tell what he was
thinking.
Verena really hoped that Lemuel could take the initiative to refuse.
"Lemuel, don't forget that we have signed an agreement…" Wilson reminded him.
"I know. I have kept every single promise of mine." Lemuel raised his jaw and said casually, "How
about that? I will make her my assistant."
"Okay." Wilson nodded, looking satisfied. Then he said to Verena, "Just get yourself prepared. You will
go to work tomorrow."
Verena had to nod in agreement.
When Lemuel left the dining room, he took a casually glimpse at her again, looking meaningful.
Then he huffed and took away the steak. Cole always followed him to the second floor. Only three of
them were left beside the table.
"Just leave them alone. Come on, let's continue with the food." Wilson smiled at Verena.
However, Verena didn't have much appetite though facing so many delicious dishes.
But Sammy was still gulping down everything on the table. His mouth was stained with oil around. And
he still clung to her, having no intention to let go.
After dinner, Verena went back to her bedroom.
Perhaps it was because she hadn't been used to the new environment. She didn't fall asleep for a
whole night.
Verena was taken downstairs at 7:00 AM the next morning.
Wilson said, "Did you sleep well last night?"
"Yes. The room is nice and so was my sleep." Verena forced out a smile.
"That's great. Today is your first day to work. Lemuel will be here soon. You can go to the company
together with him."
She shook her head, "Don't bother. I can go by myself."
"No bother. Both of you go to the same place. From now on, you can take his car!"
While speaking, Lemuel was going downstairs. He looked quite tall and lofty in an overcoat.
"Lemuel, take Miss Moore to your car and go to work with her." While speaking, Wilson looked at
Verena to beckon her to follow Lemuel.
Verena still stood still, 'Can I refuse…'
"Miss Moore, this way, please." Lemuel took the initiative to speak unusually, looking like a gentleman.
It would only embarrass herself if she refused again. So she bit her lip and stepped out.
'Whatever! Just let it be!'
Lemuel was following behind.
Just as both of them left, Cole suddenly rushed downstairs while holding a cup of coffee, "Dad, where
is Lemuel?"
"He went to work with Miss Moore."
Cole coughed as choked by the coffee. Then he continued to ask, "Did you say they went to work
together?"
"Nothing. I want to hitch a ride with Lemuel."
"You have your own car. Besides, you have never hitched a ride with Lemuel before!"
Then Cole smiled like a cunning fox, "I love to have more companions on my way."
As footsteps sounded from behind, Verena didn't look back. She just kept stepping forward.
Lemuel followed her behind, looking casual and indifferent. He seemed to be born as an elegant one.
As they walked out of the parlor, the door of the car was opened.
Verena was still planning. She saw there was only one seat vacant in the front. However, there were a
few vacant ones on the back seats. So she had to be close with him if she sat in the rear. Of course
that was the last thing she would do. This is from NôvelDrama.Org.
So she hurried to sit in the front of the car. However, as soon as she sat down, the chauffeur beside
said, "Madam, your seat is at the back."
Verena still insisted, "Can't I sit here?"
"Only the executive secretary of Mr. Lemuel sits here."
So Verena had to shift to the back seat, while Lemuel had already sat on the left with his slender legs
crossed.
She sat down on the right with her body leaning against the window so as to keep a distance from him
as if he were a monster.
Lemuel looked at her from head to toe. Then he mocked, "Miss Moore, why do you keep yourself away
from me? Are you afraid of me? For example, are you afraid that I would pin you down?"
Verena shook her head, "No. It's just because I have carsickness."
"Really?" Lemuel fixed his eyes on her as if he were about to sentence her.
Verena gritted her teeth, "Of course! Why should I lie to you?"
Lemuel kept silent and said coldly to the chauffeur, "Let's go!"
"Lemuel, wait!" a voice sounded suddenly.
Then Verena felt like being bumped onto her shoulder. She felt a bang of pain and was thrown to the
left because of that strong force.
She seemed to hear someone whine vaguely. But she didn't notice much. She hurried to stop herself
from falling down.
Finally, she breathed a sigh of relief. However, she could feel that her hands happened to press on
something hard and warm. She was a bit stunned and lowered her head to have a look.
Suddenly, she seemed to be frozen on spot instantly.
Her hands actually pressed on Lemuel's legs.
She didn't even expect that. Lemuel couldn't help getting still all over, looking sullen.
Her face went burning hot. Then she hurried to take back her hands.
She didn't dare to look at his face and she hurried to move aside. However, she happened to sit on
another pair of strong legs!
