Bailey's pov
Baby.
Baby.....
Baby?
That word rang in my ears as I peered at his back as he disappeared back inside the locker room. Before he did, he turned to me and smiled.
That smile, the gleam of happiness in his eyes. My heart sped its beats.
I clench the shirt in a fist in my hands, gripping the material as I stared at the closed door in utter shock.
Did that just happen?
I looked around, suddenly realizing I was still in the hallway and anyone could have seen us and what Kaleb had done, which was kiss my cheek. But to my surprise the hallway was empty.
I only prayed it had been so when he leaned down to kiss me on the cheek.
I looked down at his jersey, unsure if to go to him and give it back. If I wore it, it would raise questions and rumors will begin. Kaleb has never and I mean ever given a girl his jersey to wear before.
Usually when a guy gave a girl his jersey to wear it would mean that they are dating. Kaleb never gave anyone his jersey.... Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
I flushed.
If I walk out in this Mira would probably ask a lot of questions...but on the other hand Juliet would probably be pissed off. I am tempted to irk the bitch.
Yet...I didn't want to raise questions from Mira who would no doubt think something was up.
I chewed on my lips looking away awkwardly when two girls pass by staring at me strangely. I turn around and made my way to the bathroom, hoping that when I do get there I would have already made up my mind.
I washed my face, stared at myself in the mirror and sighed. I tugged the clinging shirt off my skin, wiggling my nose in distaste.
That bitch did this on purpose.
Staring at myself in the mirror, I came to a decision. I would put on the jersey. It was not like I had anything else to wear. I couldn't go out looking like this. I couldn't have Juliet getting the upper hand.
I ripped the shirt off my body and put on Kaleb's jersey. It swallows my form and reaches almost to my mid thigh. I pinched the color and lift it to my nose and breathed in his scent.
I closed my eyes, sighing as his cologne made my insides melt. The door burst open, making me startled. I whipped around to see a young girl my age staring at me like I had another head.
She must've seen me sniffing the shirt like a creep. I smiled awkwardly and took my stained coffee shirt off the counter and made my way towards the door. I didn't fail to see the girl's eyes drop to Kaleb's number on the jersey and her jaw slackened.

I had confidence a few seconds ago....I really did. But when I made my way back up those bleachers, eyes were now suddenly drawn toward me. More specifically the shirt, I mean Kaleb's
jersey I had on.
Everyone knew it was his. His number was printed big and bold on the front and back.
I bit into my bottom lip as everyone started to whisper among themselves, not being discreet as they stared at me while doing so.
I rolled my eyes and made my way back to Mira, nervous as I draw closer. I knew she would find it weird that I am wearing her brother's jersey.
And I was right.
As soon as she caught sight of me, her jaw dropped and her hotdog falls to the ground. Her eyes are wide and they are pinned on the jersey just like everyone else.
I draw closer nervously, telling others excuse me and sorry as I walk pass. The game would begin soon and hopefully the distraction would make them move their attention off me. God I do hope so. I hated the icky feeling of eyes on me.
" Bailey Grey," Mira whispered, her eyes on the jersey and her nose twitched as though she took a bad smell.
" Why do you have Kaleb's jersey on?" her eyes narrowed. I sat down beside her awkwardly, not failing to notice the daggers Juliet sent my way when she heard Kaleb's name.
I licked my lips suddenly finding them chapped as I looked ahead, pretending that this was not a big deal. I shrug. " I couldn't find a spare shirt, your brother happened to be walking by and helped me out."
Mira eyed the side of my face. " And he gave you his jersey?"
I lifted my shoulder in a barely there shrug. " Yes. He had a spare."
Mira hummed as though in thought and I looked at her to see her brows pinched. " It's so weird though. He must know what everyone will think when they see you with his jersey on. This is like a claim Bailey in the football world, it's weird that he gave it to you knowing what people will assume."
I smiled awkwardly as my heart flipped at the word claim. " Don't be ridiculous Mira, wearing his jersey won't make people think he has claimed me. C'mon it's your brother we are talking about here and besides I won't betray you by breaking our promise."
I felt terrible, awful, I wanted to vomit for even lying to her. I looked away, blinking as I push back my guilty tears.
" You better not Bailey. As soon as we get back in the school I'll give you one of my spare shirts okay?"
I nod, biting into my lip.
" And you'll hand me that jersey afterward girl," Juliet decided to butter in, making both Mira and I to turn to her. She has a smile on her face and to everyone she looked like a sweet girl, but I knew Juliet, and she clearly had not changed.
She giggled. " Because I will be wearing it for the next game."
Mira frowned. " What are you talking about Juliet?"
Juliet grinned, shrugging as she twirled her hair between her finger. " Oh nothing, just that Kaleb and I will definitely get back together. Especially after that talk we had last night."
" What talk?" It took me a couple seconds to realize that question came from me when Mira turned to me. I looked away. " That's great that you have hope Juliet." I played it off, tugging the jersey.
She giggled. "We talked for hours in my room, he is still so sweet."
My heart. It hurts.
He told me he didn't talk to her much last night. He told me he wasn't in her room. He lied.
Mira snorted. "Sweet? After you left, he used girls like tissue. He's more like an asshole."
Juliet responded. " There's a reason why your brother always chose me my sweet Mira. He's still in love with me. These girls will never be anything to him but used tissue."
I blinked, my throat feeling like it was closing up. The cheers around me boomed as the boys emerge onto the field. Mira and Juliet stood up, everyone stood up except for me as I curled into myself in pity.
He lied.
