Chapter 1450: Holding Back
"I'm home now. I've sent a video to Kian through the police station. You can tell Kian that when the police make their decision, they should release the video as well!"
Ayan responded with an acknowledging sound, showing that he wasn't particularly curious, probably because Kian had already informed him. Therefore, when Camille told him, there wasn't much emotion or reaction from Ayan.
Camille pursed her lips slightly, her voice sounding somewhat subdued. She sighed silently before saying, "Honestly, I feel a bit angry, but I dare not show it in front of Grace because so much has happened. Judging by Grace's state of mind, she's already feeling terrible. If I were to show my emotions, it might make things even worse!"
Camille slightly pursed her lips, her expression becoming somewhat dim. Even though Ayan wasn't present to see her, he could deduce her emotions from her words.
In a low, hoarse voice, he comforted her, saying, "Having emotions is a very normal reaction. When something like this happens, even a bystander would feel angry. Moreover, you witnessed the whole incident from start to finish, so it's normal for you to have emotions. But I don't want you to hold back your emotions just to avoid negativity towards others. It's not good."
Camille quietly agreed, saying, "I understand. I know what you mean, but I can't help feeling touched."
Ayan responded, "You can tell me anything. I'm not just your husband, but also your friend, okay? If you feel it's inappropriate to talk to me, you can talk to Sienna. You and Sienna share everything, and I believe she'd be willing to listen to you."
Ayan always knew how to uplift her spirits effortlessly. She smiled, her voice now cheerful, "I understand. Don't worry, I'll adjust myself. If I can't do it, I'll talk to Sienna."
"Not me?" Ayan said, full of anticipation.
Camille laughed, "Of course, I'll talk to you, don't worry. You can't escape."
Ayan certainly didn't want to escape. He hoped she would think of him first no matter what.
Even over the phone, both could sense each other's emotions. Ayan's deep eyes narrowed slightly, his voice becoming particularly low as he asked, "Do you want me to accompany you?"
Camille softly pressed her lips together and whispered, "No need. You'll be off work soon, no rush. I'll have Auntie prepare dinner, and we'll have it at home tonight?"
"Okay."
Since the incident of their lunch being filmed, both now had their meals at home.
It wasn't that they were afraid to eat out but rather to avoid unnecessary gossip. They could eat at home anytime; they just didn't want to give those who loved to gossip more fodder.
As their conversation drew to a close, Camille suddenly remembered something.
She immediately asked, "Ayan, when I went to the police station today, I saw a familiar car. I'm not sure if it's his, but the last two digits of the license plate were exactly the same. I couldn't see the first two numbers."
Thus, she couldn't be certain.
Ayan followed up, "Whose car?"
"Father's."
This father naturally referred to Fletcher.
Whether it was her father or mother, Camille only felt comfortable calling them that when facing Fletcher and Talia.
Because to Camille, they treated her like their own daughter, always kind and loving, especially when it came to Camille. They would treat her even better, regardless of any conflicts between her and Ayan.
Their relationship with Fletcher and Talia filled the void of parental love Camille had experienced, causing her feelings towards the Armstrong family to fade. Hence, after the significant events that occurred within the Armstrong family, Camille's reaction seemed so indifferent.
Ayan's words brought Camille back to the present. Ayan asked gently, "Did you only see the last digits of the license plate?"
"Yes, the car's model and color made it surprising."
"I see. It could be someone else. However, it's also possible that father sent someone to the police station."
Camille just hummed in acknowledgment, not pressing any further because she had asked out of concern.
Since Ayan put it that way, Camille didn't feel the need to ask more.
But once he hung up, Ayan immediately called Kian in. He instructed, "Go ask Logan if my father went to the police station today."
Kian hesitated, then subconsciously asked, "Mr. Simpson went to the police station?"
"We're not sure. Camille said she saw a car at the police station that looked like his. According to what I know, Fletcher doesn't have any business at the police station. If he absolutely had to go, it would probably be related to the Armstrong family. The only link between the Simpson family and the police station is Brody."
But why would Fletcher go?
Ayan wondered, prompting him to seek clarification.
Kian realized this and asked cautiously, "If Mr. Simpson is at the police station meeting Mr. Armstrong, would he be displeased if he found out about our private investigation?"
Kian's words were tactful, implying whether Fletcher would be furious if he discovered Ayan's inquiry.
However, Ayan didn't think it was a big deal and simply said, "It's fine. Go and inquire." NôvelDrama.Org holds © this.
If Fletcher found out, it wouldn't matter much, as Talia would likely cover for him.
Kian nodded and left the office.
Sitting in his chair, Ayan gazed deeply, a faint warmth emanating from his handsome face. It seemed like certain things were known to more than just him. If he hadn't detected that something was amiss, it might have remained concealed.
Was all this secrecy and effort really necessary?
He smiled faintly, telling himself that he needed to figure out how to broach this matter with Fletcher or the old Simpson.
Kian's investigation was swift. Within minutes, he knocked on Ayan's office door again.
Entering briskly, Kian's voice was slightly hoarse as he reported, "Mr. Simpson, I called Logan. He doesn't know about it, but he managed to get information from other officers. One officer close to you and the old Simpson, with a higher position than Logan, probably concealed the fact that Fletcher and the old Simpson were at the station. However, it's now confirmed that they were indeed there."
