Chapter 1530: Extinguish
Chapter 1530: Extinguish
Camille listened as those three words repeated in her ears, her heart beating faster in response. Even though they had been together for so long and she had grown accustomed to his affection, she still couldn't help but feel her heart skip a beat at the sound of his words.
Camille pursed her lips and refused to answer, only responding in a low tone, "Have you just finished your work?"
It had been two hours since she sent him a message.
Ayan replied, "I just finished a meeting. It lasted a while, and my phone has been with Kian the whole time."
If it had been a phone call, Kian would have recognized it. If it was an important call, he would have informed Ayan immediately. But since Camille had sent a message, Kian hadn't noticed.
Camille didn't continue the topic and simply responded with an "Hmm," preparing to ask him about Sienna.
But before she could speak, Ayan's voice interrupted again, "Why aren't you answering my question?"
Camille smiled, he hadn't forgotten.
Camille said, "Hmm."
"What does 'hmm' mean?"
"Guess." She really didn't want to answer because she felt embarrassed. But Ayan insisted on an answer as if he wouldn't give up until she spoke.
Ayan's voice carried a deeper meaning as he said, "Camille, tell me, do you miss me? Or should I ask again after you come home tonight? Hmm?"
There was a strong sense of threat in his words, causing Camille to freeze in surprise.
How could he say such a threatening thing so directly?
Camille remained silent, and Ayan didn't push further. The atmosphere quieted down, allowing them to hear each other's breathing.
Camille wanted to avoid answering by remaining silent. Even though it was just one word, she found it difficult to say.
But Ayan insisted on an answer.
The silence lasted for about a minute, during which neither of them made a sound. After a minute, Ayan's voice broke the silence again as he said, "Since you're not speaking, I'll take it as your consent." Camille widened her eyes subconsciously, a hint of incredulous anger flashing in her gaze. She quickly said, "Yes, I miss you. Are you satisfied now?"
Now, saying it over the phone was enough; she didn't need to find another way to tell him when they were home at night. Her feet were still trembling.
Upon hearing her frustrated response, Ayan laughed along.
He didn't continue teasing her, afraid that she might actually get angry.
The conversation returned to the content of Camille's message. Ayan told her, "If Rex has no objections to Sienna joining this project, there shouldn't be any problem with inviting Jillian to join your company for this project. However, for safety reasons, it would be wise to sign a confidentiality agreement. It would be beneficial for both you and Jillian."
"I understand, but I haven't talked to Jillian yet, so I'm not sure if she's willing."
"Isn't she interested in Mario? This would be a great opportunity for her."
Ayan didn't know Jillian personally, but he had a keen understanding of human nature.
Since he said so, Camille naturally had no objections.
After discussing this matter, Ayan asked, "Do you want to have lunch together?"
Camille checked the time and realized that it was less than an hour until lunchtime. It would take her half an hour to get there and another hour for lunch. After considering it, she declined, "No, let's have dinner together instead. Finish your work early and come pick me up."
She didn't want to waste Ayan's time or interfere with his work just because of lunch.
Ayan didn't insist. He had an international conference to attend later but could leave early to pick her up and have dinner together.
After their conversation ended, they both went back to their busy schedules.
Camille reorganized all the materials needed for the SynergyCon project and started sketching. It was better to be prepared even if it might not be suitable. She could refine it repeatedly, finding different inspirations with each iteration.
When Camille was working, she put everything else aside, including her phone and any incoming messages.
Because she had breakfast late today, she had already informed Yessica in advance that she didn't need to be called for lunch. She would order something when she got hungry later.
Camille was busy until after 2 PM when she finally looked up and stretched lazily. She checked the time and saw a new message on her phone.
She opened the message which read: "Did you receive the flowers? Do you still like them?"
Two questions in less than ten words.
Camille narrowed her eyes slightly, her expression growing darker because she could tell who sent the message based on its source.
Camille tightly gripped her phone without moving. Her eyes stared at the screen without blinking. She didn't know how long she had been looking at it but eventually the screen automatically turned off and her gaze shifted away.
She didn't reply but immediately went to find Sienna instead.
Sienna was busy finishing up the work she had taken on before the end of the design competition. She was quite occupied these days.
When Camille entered and Sienna noticed her presence, she didn't say anything because her hands were busy. Camille walked over and sat on the sofa silently, waiting for Sienna to finish her task. After a moment, Sienna's voice broke the silence. "What's wrong with you?"Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
Camille calmly said, "I know who sent the flowers."
"Who?"
"Preston."
In fact, she had suspected him for a while because besides him, Camille couldn't think of anyone else who would do something so petty. But without enough evidence, she couldn't be certain it was him.
Camille told Sienna about the
content of the message and said,
"Besides him, there's no one else. I、
was planning to wait until tomorrow to confirm it, but now it's
unnecessary. Either he won't continue or he will continue Either
way, it doesn't matter because I
know it's him."
Camille planned to tell Ayan about this during dinner. Taking the initiative was better than being passive.
Sienna also found it quite speechless after hearing this. She said, "Honestly, this person is disgusting. He just won't go away!"
"He probably can't sit still," Camille replied coldly.
Although news of the SynergyCon project was already public knowledge due to the press conference and the police investigation report, Preston couldn't possibly be unaware of it.
The consequence of his knowledge
was that he would make a big deal
out of it.
's just how he was; he
wouldn't easily let go of any
opportunity he found. So now that
he had such a good chance to target
Simpson Group and Ayan, why would he let go?
Coldness filled Camille's eyes as her voice grew even colder. "He wants to target Ayan and Simpson Group. He's probably reminding me that if don't want to be implicated, I should leave Ayan and Simpson Group as soon as possible. Otherwise, I'll be targeted as well."
"He's really pathetic. If only he had stayed with Chu Qiao'an obediently from the beginning; honestly speaking, they would be so happy now."
"But he just wouldn't," Camille sighed.
"What exactly happened that made him so fixated on Ayan?" Sienna asked worriedly.
