Chapter 1540 Apologies
Camille responded obediently, "Ayan went to the office, and I came by myself, quietly, without telling him!"Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
Camille raised her hand and made a hushing gesture, indicating to the old Simpson not to mention it to Ayan.
The old Simpson nodded cheerfully, "Okay, I promise not to tell him. Next time, let's have a private meal without letting him know."
"Okay, Grandpa, let's eat quietly." Camille and the old Simpson coordinated very well and both of them laughed.
Camille hesitated, unsure of how to start.
Her hesitation didn't go unnoticed by the old Simpson, who looked at her several times before taking the initiative to ask, "Camille, do you have something you want to tell me?"
Camille raised an eyebrow and spoke softly, "Grandpa, I do have something I want to ask you."
"Go ahead."
"Do you know Preston?"
The old Simpson furrowed his brow slightly, meeting Camille's gaze. "He's your friend, right?"
"Yes." The old Simpson had a good memory, and she nodded lightly. "It's him. You probably haven't met him."
"I indeed haven't, but Ayan asked me about this person before, so I have some recollection." The old Simpson had no impression of this person, only knowing about him from Ayan, but other than that, he didn't have any more information.
Ayan asked Camille, and now she was asking, so naturally the old Simpson couldn't help but be curious, "What's the matter with him?"
Camille pursed her lips slightly, unable to gauge the old Simpson's thoughts, so she asked, "Do you really not know him?"
The old Simpson didn't answer immediately, instead looking at Camille with some confusion. "Do you not trust me?" The old Simpson smiled and said, "I've never lied to you, young lady. You mustn't distrust me. It would hurt my feelings."
The old Simpson had always been very gentle with Camille, and his words made her immediately explain that she didn't distrust him, she just wanted to confirm.
Since the old Simpson was unfamiliar with Preston, Camille didn't continue the topic. She didn't know Preston's real name, so she couldn't get much information from the old Simpson for now.
Camille took a deep breath and offered to play a few games of chess with the old Simpson, not wanting his memory to dwell on this matter.
Camille spent the morning at the hospital with the old Simpson and left after lunch.
Back in her car, Camille finally had time to take out her phone and read the message she received on the way to the hospital in the morning.
It was from Preston.
Her guess was spot on.
However, the content of his message made Camille very angry. He was always like this, vague and using provocative questions to arouse intense curiosity.
After a quick glance, Camille deleted the message directly.
Preston asked, "There's something about Ayan, do you want to know? You can consider it, but knowing will definitely affect your relationship. You can turn a blind eye to it, after all, men, it's just those kinds of things, very normal."
Camille took a deep breath and then drove home directly.
It was still early, but because of Preston's message, Camille was completely devoid of mood.
She went straight to her room when she got home and found something to occupy herself, not allowing herself to idle and indulge in random thoughts.
Because she had to learn to adjust
her mood. Judging from the current situation between Preston and Ayan, she would have many more
interactions with Preston in the line
future, so she couldn't let anything Preston did affect her.
Camille went to Ayan's study and found a book she had started but hadn't finished reading.
She let her heart settle down, for only when her heart was calm could she be unaffected by anyone.
She spent the afternoon at home reading while Ayan was busy with his own affairs.
It wasn't because of the SynergyCon project. The responsibility for the SynergyCon project was given to Kian and the Simpson Group. Ayan was occupied with Tillery's Corporation's project. Kerry was preparing to leave Hance City soon to report back to the SynergyCon project group. He needed to go over the project's contract details and other terms of interest with Ayan.
This time, Kerry came to Simpson Group alone with his assistant, so Ayan had him come directly to the office for the discussion.
Both Ayan and Kerry were individuals who wouldn't compromise on their own interests during work, so they remained deadlocked for several hours without yielding.
Facing Ayan's strong presence, Kerry's mood became extremely serious. He dared not relax in the slightest, as the General Ayan could take advantage of any slight slackness.
Kerry looked at Ayan and said, "Mr. Simpson, according to what you say, you are the host here. You surely wouldn't make me travel all the way to Hance City and make significant sacrifices, would you?" Ayan smiled, maintaining direct eye contact with Kerry. He replied, "Mr. Kerry, have you ever heard the saying 'blood is thicker than water'? Therefore, I'm sorry, but my stance on this matter won't change." Ayan was confident that Kerry would eventually compromise; otherwise, he wouldn't have come to Hance City in the first place.
Without changing his expression, Ayan glanced at his watch. They had been at odds for so long, and he didn't wish to continue. He changed the subject and asked Kerry, "Mr. Kerry, how is your relationship with Miss Daisy lately?"
At the mention of Daisy, Kerry's expression turned cold. He sighed silently and said with a hint of helplessness, "Not good."
Since their last encounter, Daisy had been treating him with indifference. Kerry had heard from his assistant that Daisy was getting close to another man, although his identity was still unknown. Kerry had no

useful resources in Hance City, but now he had an idea. Content
He spoke to Ayan, "Mr. Simpson, could you do me a favor? It's a personal matter, and I would be immensely grateful if you were willing."
Ayan replied, "Mr. Kerry, no need to be polite. Please, go ahead!"
Kerry explained Daisy's recent activities and informed Ayan about their strained relationship. He said want to find out the identity of this man. Daisy hasn't been in Hance City for long, so logically, she shouldn't know any other men."
Ayan nodded slightly and smiled. "Given Miss Daisy's charm, encountering a few suitors shouldn't be difficult."
"They're not suitors because their interaction isn't intimate. So I'm quite sure they are not involved in a pursuer-pursued relationship."
Ayan's expression remained unchanged as he whispered, "Alright, I'll have someone look into it for you."
Kerry quickly expressed his gratitude and whispered again, "Mr. Simpson, I don't want Daisy or anyone from Tillery's Corporation to know about this, so..."
"Understood." Ayan readily agreed. Concealing information in Hance City was effortless for him. He didn't use this matter to negotiate with Kerry, which made Kerry develop an inexplicable trust in him.
