The more Jenny thought about it, the more afraid she became.

Rowan, while focused on driving, could sense the shift in Jenny’s emotions. Yet, he couldn’t bring himself to say the words to suggest going home together.

It was as if something deep within him was warning him not to take that step. So, they sat in silence the entire ride, not exchanging a single word until they pulled up to her house.

Once they reached the house, Jenny’s eyes were red as she asked, “Rowan, do you not love me anymore? If you don’t, I’ll leave. I won’t cling to you. But you can’t just treat me so coldly like this.”

Rowan looked at her with a hint of helplessness. He gently touched her head and said, “You’re overthinking it. I’ve been really busy lately, and I honestly haven’t thought about it much.”

Hearing this, Jenny felt a slight relief. But tears still streamed down her face.

“I understand. Go ahead and take care of your things. But Rowan, if there ever comes a day when you don’t love me anymore, please tell me. Don’t let me wait for you like a fool. I don’t want to force love, and I don’t want you to feel trapped.”

Rowan was caught off guard, frowning as he nodded. “Okay, I promise.”

After having some pasta for lunch, Skylar decided to head to the library. Finding books on metaphysical topics in a public library was nearly impossible, but she needed a quiet place to think and gather her thoughts.

By the end of the afternoon, she felt calm and ready to face Gloria. She drove over to Pearlhall Residence, arriving just in time.

As soon as Skylar walked in, Gloria’s eyes scanned her, concern evident in her gaze. “How did you manage to lose weight in just a few days of vacation? Looks like the food overseas didn’t agree with you.

Skylar chuckled softly, saying, “I’ve been dieting on purpose lately. Looks like it’s working.”

“Mrs. Martin, you’ve always had a perfect figure. No need to diet,” Edgar chimed in.

These young people were always chasing after unrealistic ideals of beauty. To him, Skylar’s figure was already better than most of the celebrities he saw on TV.

Skylar was already slim, but now she was noticeably thinner. Her clothes seemed to hang loosely on her

frame.

Gloria also noticed and remarked, “You really shouldn’t keep dieting like this. It’s not good for your health.”

Skylar smiled warmly and nodded. “I’ll listen to you, Grandma. No more dieting from now on.

“That’s more like it.” Gloria sighed with relief. She couldn’t bear the thought of Skylar suffering through the hardships of dieting.

“I’ve had the chef prepare all your favorite dishes for tonight. Make sure you eat plenty,” Gloria continued.

Skylar nodded again. “Of course, I’ll do as you say.”

However, she couldn’t help but notice that Gloria’s health had deteriorated during the time she and Joe were abroad. Her complexion wasn’t as rosy as it had been before.

On the drive over, Skylar chatted with Edgar about it, who mentioned that Howard had recently been

making daily visits to check on Gloria’s health.

In truth, Gloria should have been in the hospital, where she could receive constant care. But she disliked the sterile environment of hospitals.

Skylar was growing increasingly concerned about Gloria’s health.

“Where’s Joe? Why isn’t he here yet?” Gloria glanced toward the door, her patience wearing thin.

Joe had many good qualities, but he was always too busy.

They had just returned from abroad. Joe had promised to come with Skylar to visit her today, but she had already been there for a while, and there was still no sign of him.

“It’s probably traffic. It was pretty bad when I came to Pearlhall Residence. It’s rush hour right now.” Skylar gently reassured Gloria, hoping to ease her frustration.

“Are you hungry, Skye? If you are, we can start dinner without him,” Gloria grumbled, sounding like a disgruntled child. Her nostrils flared as she showed her clear irritation. Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.

Skylar smiled and shook her head. “No, Grandma, I’m not hungry.”

“You may not be hungry, but I’m starving. Let’s not wait any longer. We’ll go ahead and eat,” Gloria huffed, standing up quickly.

She was determined to head straight to the dining room.

But as soon as she stood, she wobbled, clearly unsteady from standing too quickly.

Edgar rushed forward to steady her. “Mrs. Martin Senior, please take it slow. No need to get worked up.”

Skylar’s expression faltered slightly, a flicker of worry crossing her face. She wondered how Gloria’s health had deteriorated so quickly
