At that time, there was someone else who couldn’t sleep–Vera, who was staying at the same hotel.

She was staring at her phone for a long time. She had sent multiple messages to Joe, but he had yet to respond to any of them.

It was now 3:00 am. She should have been sleeping, but she simply couldn’t. She kept wondering why Joe was ignoring her.

Everything had gone well that previous morning.

They had talked like they used to years ago, even making plans to meet up with their former classmates once they returned to Jipsburg. But now, his lack of response since the afternoon felt like a silent rejection, making her feel like all her efforts over the past few days were in vain.

“Joe, what are you thinking? How can someone like you let Skylar get close to you without realizing she’s deceiving you?”

The more Vera thought about it, the more awake she became, unable to fall asleep. So, she made a call in

frustration.

“Didn’t you say that as long as I kept wearing the ring and spent more time with Joe, it would make it harder for him to resist me?

“But it seems that even though we’ve met several times and each time lasted longer, he doesn’t seem to be changing at all!” Vera vented all her frustrations in one breath.

“That’s impossible. When you first met him, didn’t he choose to go to the hospital with you after you got sick instead of taking his wedding photos? That clearly shows that it’s the ring’s effect. You must stay calm and not lose control,” Molly replied calmly.

Hearing Molly’s words, Vera’s expression improved slightly, but her patience was wearing thin.

“How much longer will it take before Joe realizes Skylar’s true nature?”

“It shouldn’t take much longer. They must have been suspicious of each other lately; their relationship is likely already affected. In addition to the ring’s influence, they will likely divorce once they return to Jipsburg.

“You and Joe have always had feelings for each other. If it hadn’t been for Skylar, the two of you would have been together long ago. Now, we’re just putting things back in their places.”

Molly’s words seemed to have some kind of magic.

Even though they were far apart, her voice over the phone made Vera believe in her.

Vera looked down at the ring on her finger, finding it more beautiful the more she looked at it. Wearing it felt like she was on a mission–not only just being with Joe but also to help him see Skylar’s true and vile

nature.

After ending the call, Vera thought of something else and immediately opened the Amazon app.

She saw a message from the shop asking her to cancel her order, saying they couldn’t appraise her ring. A friend recommended this shop, saying it was very reliable for appraisals and that if she was uncertain about any antiques, she should consult them.

The response from the shop had been slow lately, but she had waited patiently.

But now? They irresponsibly told her to cancel the order, claiming they couldn’t appraise it!

It seemed that these online stores were unreliable and falsely advertised their services. In the end, she had to cancel her order.

She had chosen to get the ring appraised online to avoid letting anyone know about her doubts, especially Molly. But now, after reflecting on her recent interactions with Joe, both in Fachington and in Jipsburg, it seemed that he was indeed changing.

It turned out that Skylar’s skills were nothing compared to Molly’s. Vera thought she should have gone to Molly when her family was in trouble.

There seemed to be someone even more powerful behind Molly.

It was a shame that her family had lost 20 million dollars!

The following morning, Skylar woke up half an hour later than Jpe.
