My Mirror Image by Maybe Not (Candice And Alex’s)

Chapter 0467

Chapter 0467

Daniel raised his gaze, his eyes narrowed slightly as he scrutinized Alex.

Under the illumination of the crystal lamp above his head, Alex's cold white skin seemed to exude endless chilliness.

He lowered his gaze to look at Daniel, his face devoid of any emotion. "If you are satisfied, then stop your dirty tactics."

Daniel's gaze sank momentarily, but Alex had already turned around and left.

As he passed Helen, he glanced at her briefly, then continued on his way without looking back.

Behind him, Daniel's voice suddenly rose in anger. "What attitude is that?!"

Helen covered her lips, laughing lightly in mockery. "I don't know what attitude he has, but it's surprising to see you willing to put down your pride and threaten a girl younger than your own son. Isn't that embarrassing?"

Daniel's anger shifted to Helen. "You understand nothing!"

"Yes! I understand nothing, but that's better than you. Do you know why Alex is like this? It's all because of you. Like father, like son!"

The argument inside the room erupted once again. Outside, Alex leaned against the parked car nearby, silent. If not for the faint spark of light by his fingertips, he would have blended into the night.

Alex didn't smoke much, but the cigarette burned between his fingers, and the scent of nicotine slowly climbed up until it enveloped his brow, concealing the coldness in his eyes.

Candice went with Yana to the hospital for her examination. She also told Yana about what happened in the hospital, where she was taken to the abortion clinic by the nurse.

With a solemn expression, Yana asked Candice a chilling question. "Can you be sure that your examination report hasn't been tampered with?"

Candice was startled, and the tension in her mind snapped. Something slowly became clear to her.

Lately, she had put almost all her focus on the results. She hadn't even thought about the details. Now she carefully considered the aspects she hadn't thought of before.

The two exchanged a glance, both harboring suspicions.

After the examination was completed at Yana’s cousin's clinic, Yana accompanied Candice to the previous hospital.

Originally, they had intended to find the doctor who had conducted the examination, but they found out that the doctor was on vacation.

Candice called him twice, but there was no answer.

-

It had been a long time since the New Year, and Candice's work on Redshade Corporation hadn't progressed.

The official launch of Redshade Corporation was scheduled for early next month, and Candice had thrown herself into work.

Since finding out that Hanley had made the lemon candies himself, Candice had found it strange to eat them. As a result, two candy jars had been added to the living room and study, and she was the

last to find out about them.

Ryan asked Hanley several times where he bought the candy, but Hanley didn't answer.

Candice couldn't help but ask him, "Why don't you just tell Ryan that you made them yourself?"

Hanley sat by the window with a design drawing in front of him. His bony fingers held a pencil, the tip touching the paper, leaving a small gray line.

He looked up, his eyes gentle and calm against the warm hue of dusk. His lips curled up slightly. "Why should I tell him? It's not for him."

Candice was taken aback. Before she could speak, she saw Hanley stand up.

He coughed softly and added, "It's for Baby Mulberry."

In the afternoon, Yana came over with a not-so-good complexion, constantly glancing at Candice.

Even if Candice was slow, she could perceive Yana's abnormality. She asked Yana, "Do you have something to tell me? Have the results come out?" Candice's tone was visibly nervous.

Yana immediately answered. "How is that possible? It's just something my dad mentioned when I came over. The engagement between Alex and Nina should be confirmed. Nina has already arrived in Dorrington City and moved into the Elysian family's residence."

Out of everyone, only Yana knew clearly that Candice's child belonged to Alex.

She looked at Candice with concern, expecting her to have a reaction. However, Candice just nodded calmly, her expression flat, as if she had only heard something trivial.

Yana opened her mouth to say something but swallowed her words silently.

-

The results of the prenatal screening came out the next morning, and Yana drove Candice there.

Yana's cousin was already waiting in the office. As soon as Candice stepped into the office, the trembling in her chest intensified slightly.

She tried to remain calm, waiting for the result.

Yana's cousin glanced at her and then pulled out a report from the folder. "There's no problem with the baby, everything is normal."

Candice suddenly looked up at the doctor.

"Cousin, are you sure about this?” Yana asked. “There's no mistake, right?!"

"Why would I lie to you? Besides, the data is clearly written on it. Can't you read?" Yana's cousin was a bit dissatisfied. She waved her hand and chased them out, then hurriedly went to see other patients herself.

Yana recovered faster than Candice. She looked at Candice and smiled sincerely. "See, I told you, everything is fine. That doctor last time was just incompetent!"

Candice held the report in her hand, still not fully comprehending what had happened.

Only after hearing Yana's voice did she tremble and repeatedly looked at the report several times to make sure.

Until she saw the word "normal" Candice couldn't express her feelings. She pursed her lips and remained silent for a while.

But now that it showed normal, it further proved that there was a problem with the previous hospital.

Candice's heart sank, and she thought of what Helen had said to her before.

Her lips tightened slowly, and her face gradually became ugly.

However, the doctor from before was still on vacation, and the nurse who took Candice to the abortion clinic couldn't be found.

After leaving the hospital, Yana comforted Candice, "It's okay, at least now we know that Baby Mulberry is normal. Let's go, I'll treat you to something delicious as a celebration."

The place Yana wanted to take Candice to celebrate was in a shopping district.

Just as they parked the car and entered, they saw a familiar figure standing in front of a counter. Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

Nina was wearing a Chanel-style suit, standing in front of a perfume counter, choosing scent.

Yana clicked her tongue. "What a coincidence. What bad luck."

Her words had just fallen when Nina seemed to sense something and glanced over.

After seeing clearly, she was first surprised, then realized.

She raised her eyebrows at Candice and then generously said, "What a coincidence."

"Indeed, it's quite a coincidence that we can meet such a disgusting person when we come out to eat." Yana smiled.

Nina's eyes flashed with a hint of displeasure, but she didn't respond to Yana's words.

Instead, she looked at Candice and said, "I came to buy things needed for the engagement. Uncle and Aunt have been urging me." She looked behind Candice and smiled. "Oh, Alex happens to be here to pick me up."
