My Mirror Image by Maybe Not (Candice And Alex’s)

Chapter 0474

Chapter 0474

In Solaris, Candice had previously enlisted Angela's help in finding a nice apartment in a good location with a decent layout. After coordinating the details with Ryan, she settled comfortably into her new home in Solaris.

With Hanley and others taking care of things in Dorrington, Candice wasn’t too concerned.

The only one who seemed dissatisfied was Yana.

Shortly after Candice had moved into her new place, Yana's calls started flooding in. She vented her frustrations to Candice multiple times.

"You guys all left, and now I'm stuck here alone! And my dad keeps pushing me to go on blind dates again. This time, he wants me to meet that idiot Sieg again. I told him it's absurd."

Yana complained about her problems and mentioned something else, adding, "Sieg has been trying to find out where you are, openly and secretly. I didn’t tell him."

Why would Sieg be so interested in Candice’s location? Clearly, he was asking for someone else.

After chatting for a while, Candice ended the call. She wasn’t concerned about Alex finding out she was in Solaris. It was a big city, and the chances of them crossing paths were slim.

Besides, she had specifically requested that Angela find a place a bit farther from the city center, tucked away in a quieter alley.

The living conditions weren’t extravagant, but the neighbors were friendly.

On her first day, the lady from upstairs even brought her a basket of fresh farm eggs.

Elsewhere.

"I heard things have been rough with your family lately. Nina seemed pretty upset, talking about going back to Stugan," Sieg casually mentioned, swirling the liquid in his glass.

"Is it really worth it to clash with your dad like this? Making an enemy out of him won't do you any good. Watch out, or he might kick you out of Aether Corporation."

But the person he was addressing remained silent.

Alex sat across from him, pouring himself another drink.

Sieg couldn't help but intervene. He snatched the wine bottle away and urged, "Take it easy, will you? It hasn't been long since your stomach was bleeding. Do you really want to end up back in the hospital?"

"No," Alex replied curtly, reaching for the bottle again.

Sieg looked at him with a mix of emotions. He reminded him, "Lex, this isn't like you." NôvelDrama.Org owns © this.

Known for his discipline, Alex wasn't one to drown his sorrows in alcohol.

His response was a bitter scoff, tinged with self-ridicule.

Seeing him like this, Sieg knew he couldn’t convince him otherwise. Shaking his head, he signaled the waiter to remove the unused bottles.

For several nights, Alex had been spending his evenings at the bar, attracting attention.

Two attractive women approached carrying drinks, and they flirtatiously handed him a room card.

One of them, bold, batted her eyelashes and propositioned, "I'm quite skilled. Want to give it a try?"

Pausing his drinking, Alex glanced at the woman who thought she had caught his interest, and she began to act even more seductively.

This man had been frequenting the bar for five days, drinking alone, clearly nursing a broken heart.

They could immediately tell—they were familiar with this.

Meanwhile, Alex, dressed in his expensive tailored suit, was clearly not just anyone. Even if just for one night, it would be a win for them.

But before the woman could make any more advances, the room card she had offered was thrown back at her, narrowly missing her face, accompanied by a low, hoarse command, "Get lost."

Startled and angry, the woman could only curse silently as she left with her companion.

Observing the scene, Sieg raised an eyebrow and inquired, "So, I take it you won't be attending the charity dinner?"

Tapping the table softly, he added, "I heard the folks from Burning Star Studio will be there. Yana will also make an appearance."

-

Candice had settled into life in Solaris quite smoothly.

Despite some initial apartment issues, she hardly reached out to Angela anymore.

Her days were mostly occupied with work, grocery shopping, and cooking at home. Occasionally, she exchanged pleasantries with her neighbors, leading a tranquil and secluded life.

She kept an eye on financial news, occasionally coming across articles about Aether Corporation, which had been experiencing significant fluctuations and a decline in stock prices recently.

However, she didn't dwell on it much and instead browsed through the news section of Mutemaw.

Suddenly, Yana called, sounding exasperated. She vented, "I'm so fed up! I really don't want to go to that charity event; it's incredibly dull."

Candice knew that Yana's family had given her an ultimatum; either find someone to marry or take over the family business.

Throughout the day, Yana bombarded Candice with messages, pouring out her frustrations.

"And to make matters worse, that idiot Sieg and that imbecile Mason will be there too. Why is life so tough?!"

Yana was on the verge of breakdown.

Glancing at the evening sky outside, Candice consoled her, "It's alright; it's just an event. They won't dare do anything to you."

"I'm already in the parking lot," Yana said, opening her car door and then noticing Sieg, who was wearing a fake smile as he looked at her.

Startled, Yana nearly let out a curse.

Sieg noticed and asked, "Who are you talking to? Is it Candice?"

Rolling her eyes, Yana quipped, "All you ever talk about is Candice. What's up? Are you secretly in love with her?"

As she spoke, another person emerged from a nearby car. It was Alex, dressed in a dark suit, appearing serious and dignified.

Yana's expression changed. She questioned, "Why are you here, Alex?"

She instinctively checked her phone, relieved to see that the call had ended.

Candice immediately hung up the call as soon as she heard the name 'Alex'. She had no interest in anything related to him.

In the parking lot, Yana had already walked off.

Sieg let out a whistle and remarked, "I've never seen anyone with such a temper like Yana's."

He clicked his tongue in annoyance and muttered, "I don’t know what my dad is thinking, setting me up on a blind date with her. Am I out of my mind?"

Just as he had finished speaking, Yana, who had walked away, suddenly turned back.

She looked at him expressionlessly and fired back, "Do you think I'm thrilled about being set up with you? My friends will tease me for eternity if they find out you were my date."

Sieg's expression darkened, but Yana turned to Alex and asked, "When are you available? Candice..."

At the mention of Candice, Alex's demeanor shifted. He asked, "What about her?"

"She's fine!" Yana replied irritably, "She asked me to return the 1.5 million she owes you. Should we go to the bank together, or should I just transfer it to you?"

Candice was just tidying up when she received Yana’s message. She responded in simple terms, "He won't take it."

Frowning, she was about to reply when another message from Yana popped up.

"He said you should personally give him the money."
