Chapter 257

Chapter 257

Before leaving, Nadia and Ryan were going to the department, and Hanley was also taking people

to review materials. So, Candice had to go to Aether Corporation alone.

Before departing, Hanley furrowed his brows and said in concern, “Let Nadia go with you.”

Candice remained composed, “No need. Since you’ve all discussed it, I just need to go and sign

the contract.”

His brows remained furrowed. Seeing this, she sighed. “No need to worry anymore. I’m really fine.”

She said so, and even if Hanley wanted to say something more, he couldn’t.

Before going to Aether Corporation, she directly contacted Sawyer.

He asked her to wait for him in the small meeting room.

Candice was very familiar with Aether Corporation and knew that the small meeting room Sawyer

mentioned was right next to the CEO’s office.

However, she didn’t expect to run into Nina just a few steps after exiting the elevator.

Nina was similar to when Candice had met her in Stugan City. She wore a small suit, and her chin was

slightly raised as she walked.

Her aloof appearance had some resemblance to Alex, similar to Candice’s encounter with him.

Candice’s eyelashes flickered as she stepped aside a few steps. She and Nina were not acquainted,

and there was no need to greet each other.

However, Nina walked past Candice without any deviation, and her shoulder rudely bumped into

Candice.

The unfriendly attitude was too obvious. Candice stopped, and Nina raised her eyebrows slightly. In a

casual tone, she asked, “Looking for Alex?”

There was evident disdain in her words. Candice was sensitive to emotions, and Nina had

harbored considerable hostility since the first time they met in Stugan City, even more so than

toward Sonia.

This was something Candice couldn’t understand. After all, at that time, Sonia and Alex’s

relationship seemed more intimate.

In just a moment of thought, she looked up and answered, “I’m here to sign the contract.”

Nina’s brow slightly moved. With a noble posture and a faintly mocking smile on her lips, she said.

“Regardless of your purpose today, I think that as someone dismissed by Aether Corporation, it might

be better for you to appear here less often in the future.”

She casually played with her hair, “To be honest, with your identity, it’s a bit inappropriate.”

Candice naturally understood the implied meaning in her words. However, she raised her eyes as she

said. “Ms. Burgess you don’t need to say such things to me. I have no relationship with Mr. Elysian. If

you must find someone to vent your frustration on, you should go to Ms. Summers.”

“After all, she is now Mr. Elysian’s nominal girlfriend.” Candice paused and added with a calm tone. “At

least I haven’t heard any news of their breakup.”

A gleam of light flashed in Nina’s eyes, “You have no relationship with Alex?”

Candice was very calm. “If you insist, he is my former boss, but I am no longer an employee here.”

Nina looked at her with an increasingly playful expression. After a moment, she looked behind Candice

and suddenly smiled, “Did you hear that? She said you are just her former boss.”

Candice paused, then turned her gaze. She saw Alex standing two steps behind her.

There happened to be a corner over there as well as a potted plant about half a person tall. Candice

didn’t know when he had come over.

Nina raised her chin, “Former boss, you came a little early. I wanted to ask her how she evaluates you

in her heart.”

Alex’s eyelashes pressed down on the bridge of his nose, casting a shallow shadow. His voice was

dull, “Didn’t I ask you to wait in the office?”

As he was addressing Nina, Candice bit her lip, shifting her gaze away.

Nina smiled and said, “The office is a bit boring. I came out for a look. Besides; my mother has always

praised your company’s management, asking me to learn from you.”

Alex nodded, “Sure. If you need anything, go find Julie.” Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

Nina grew up as the pampered darling, and when she spoke, there was always a hint of indulgence.

However, it didn’t make people dislike her. Instead, it felt like she was being demure.

Candice looked at Sawyer, who was following Alex, and her lips moved slightly, but she didn’t say

anything.

On the other hand, Sawyer, upon seeing her, smiled slightly. “Candice, come with me.”

Candice nodded and turned to follow Sawyer into the small meeting room.

Watching her departing figure, Nina’s lips curled up slightly, and she looked at Alex with a hint of playful

mischief still in her eyes.

“My mom just called me. She wants to meet you tonight, and Aunt Helen will be there too.”

Alex’s gaze focused, looking at Nina with some contemplation.

She paused for a moment before continuing with an unchanged tone. “Alex, my mom has always told

me that you are a smart person. Except for the time in Stugan City when you were a bit blind, you are

indeed quite clever. Marrying me would be a win–win cooperation. I think you have no reason to

refuse.”

After saying this, she added with a shift in tone, “What’s wrong with each of us getting what we

need?”

Alex pressed his brow, his deep pupils revealing no excess emotion.

He carried a touch of coldness in the corner of his eye as he lightly swept past Nina. “Send me the

details of the time and place.”

Nina said, “No need. I’ll wait for you here after work.”

Candice followed Sawyer into the meeting room and took out the contract, “Nadia said that you’ve

checked the terms before, so you just need to sign.”

Sawyer looked at Candice, feeling quite complicated.

When Candice was at Aether Corporation before, she was always in control, with a perpetual air of

being in control of the situation. No matter how challenging the contract, she always managed to

secure the deal.

But now, in the blink of an eye, she was running around in Aether Corporation, signing a contract that

wasn’t particularly important to Aether Corporation.

Sometimes, he would hear employees discussing this privately, and there were quite a few sighs.

However, Sawyer’s professional demeanor prevented him from showing any feelings on the

surface.

Looking at the contract handed over by Candice, he just said, “Wait a moment. Mr. Elysian should

be here soon.”

Candice raised her eyes, “Is this contract to be signed by Mr. Elysian?”

Not all contracts required Alex’s signature and approval. For small projects like the one from

Burning Star Studio, the responsible person could decide privately.

But right after she finished speaking, a low voice came from behind, “If you don’t want to sign, you

don’t have to.”

Alex pushed the door open and looked at Candice expressionlessly.

He sat down opposite

.tapped the table with his fingers, and casually took the contract from

her hands, signing his name without much care.

The handwriting was clear and powerful, just like the person himself.

Candice watched him finish the last stroke and felt a sigh of relief.

However, before she could completely relax, she heard his cold voice, “When are you available?”

Candice raised her head, slightly stunned, “What?”

Alex finished signing the contract and then lifted his calm gaze as he stared at her. “Find some time to

accompany me to Noxville.”
