Chapter 79

Chapter 79

Alex glanced at her right hand in one moment before averting his eyes, and then said, “I’ll give you

three minutes. Come with me to see our prospective partner.”

Candice looked at Sonia before asking. “You’re not taking her?”

Everyone heard what Nina had said in the meeting room today, but Candice didn’t believe that Alex

would care about any of it.

Sonia was standing by Alex’s side. Her eyes, which were red in the morning, were no longer swollen.

She was once again that meek little woman. “Ms. Renault, I know that I’m still not good at many things.

Alex has told me to learn more from you.”

Her tone was gentle, but Candice would only believe her if she could hide the unwillingness in her eyes

better. “We must secure the contract with Ava Goodman.” The rain in Stugan City fell in unpredictable

bursts. They

would come and go just as quickl

Candice heard Alex’s deep voice among the falling raindrops. “Candice, this is what you should do.”

Ava’s business trip went very well, that was why she came back early.

When Candice and the others arrived, Nina was already speaking with Ava.

Sonia was by Alex’s side. After what happened in the morning, she didn’t dare say a word.

When they were seated, she was going to sit by Alex’s side out of habit. But before she could sit down,

she heard Nina say, “What brand of foundation did you use, Ms. Summers? Your eyes were still red

this morning. but it was so good that it could cover them?”

Sonia’s back went stiff as she forced a smile. “You jest, Ms. Burgess.”

“Am I joking with you?” The disdain in Nina’s eyes was obvious for all to see as she scanned Sonia

from top to bottom. Then, she asked, “Are we acquainted? Why would I joke with you?:

Sonia felt embarrassed and then turned to look for help from Alex.

Alex looked at Nina coldly, and the arrogant look on Nina’s face froze.

Alex then directly asked Ava, “You said you’ll give an answer by the time you return, Ms. Goodman.

considered it?” All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.

After he said that, Candice expertly handed him the information she had already prepared earlier.

Ava took them and put them aside but didn’t give them a look at all.

She was in her forties and a female entrepreneur who had worked in the business world for a long

time. Her cunning was plain to see.

She then looked at Sonia and asked Alex, “I haven’t seen her before. She is…?”

Before Alex could say a thing. Nina said, “She’s an intern from Aether, but she couldn’t even complete

the easiest of tasks. But she could follow Mr. Elysian to all the meetings.”

Her tone and usage of words made it difficult not to take it the wrong way.

Ava looked at Sonia in a displeased manner.

Sophia was already feeling somewhat upset after being addressed in that way by Nina. And after being

scrutinized by Ava in such a manner, all she could feel was a deep sense of humiliation.

She lowered her head, biting her lip without saying a word.

Candice looked from the side. She knew why Ava was showing such open hostility.

When she discovered Ava would be their prospective partner, she investigated Ava’s preference. She

had found out that her husband divorced her because he cheated on the secretary from his office.

As expected, Ava looked at Sonia with more and more irritation. She then spoke in a cold tone, “You’re

bringing someone who knows nothing to negotiate with me about this contract? I can tell how sincere

Aether

is now!”

Nina winked at Alex before saying, “See? I told you that you can forget about the contract if you bring

her

along.”

Sonia was on the verge of tearing up. Ava and Nina were mocking her, but she couldn’t even retort it.

Instead, she even had to keep her tears inside.
